We were in transit to the Netherlands and stayed here for 1 night. Excellent accommodation in a nice village 10 minutes from the highway.

We stayed here as part of a tour following a grandfather’s WW1 adventures. Good base for looking at the battle of the Somme and Vimy Ridge. Peaceful location just by the crater the Gîte is named after. Well equipped, lovely warm stove! Thanks.

We had a fabulous 6-day vacation. Denise welcomed us in a very friendly way. She had already preheated the cottage with the pellet heater so that we already had it warm in this winter weather. Everything was also prepared for our dog. We had everything we needed. The village was very quiet and there were great hiking trails. We spent New Year's there. In summer, it is certainly also very nice there, through the many lake districts. Shopping was quickly reached by car. All in all, we highly recommend Denise's house. We had a fantastic stay at this lovely farmhouse in Contalmaison. The location is steeped in history, set right within the Somme battlefield—an ideal base for anyone wanting to explore this remarkable region. The house itself is spacious, comfortable, and full of rural French charm, nestled on a working farm which adds to the authentic experience. I stayed with my three sons, and we all really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and cozy setup. It’s just a short 10-minute drive to Albert, making it super convenient while still feeling like a true escape into the countryside. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough—whether you’re visiting the Somme or simply looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting, this place is perfect.
