Family-friendly vacation rentals in Matala beach

Very much enjoyed our stay at Tasos’s apartment! It was clean and comfortable and he was very flexible with check-in/check-out as we had flight delays and arrived later then we expected, along with having to check-out at 3:30 in the morning to catch our flight. He was great at communicating, responding promptly, and also gave us a bunch of recommendations on things to do locally. Would definitely stay here again, and totally recommend to others!

Lovely home and beautiful views! Téo is a wonderful host - so friendly and welcoming. We were very comfortable and greatly enjoyed our stay.

We were well received! Angelina was a very nice woman to communicate with. The first night on arrival we got dinner from her because we were delayed 24 hours and the supermarkets were not open. Villa was very clean. Only downside was the wifi in the villa. The connection was very poor and in a room you had no connection at all. After we indicated that there was no wifi, she told me it would be taken care of. After we had raised this, we were in the villa for 9 days. During that remaining time, we didn't hear back from that. The taxi that was offered to take us was also a good taxi service. And all other activities and services offered were high quality. The cleaning ladies were good and thorough in their work which made the villa well maintained. In short, the wifi was a very nice vacation experience and a very nice host.

we has an amazing time at the Villa. Beautiful accommodation and very spacious inside. lovely and modern with everything we needed. The pool was amazing, very clean and the jacuzzi jets were an added bonus. Anastasia was very responsive to any questions and was very helping in a situation we had to deal with. Highly recommend 😁

Casa Sofia is a beautiful 2 storey house equipped as 2 separate living floors but ideal for extended family. It’s up a steep hill above the village but a short distance (5mins) walk into the centre of Spili, which has small supermarkets, a few high quality restaurants and bars with excellent local food. Car park access outside house bit tight but we had a medium SUV and managed fine. You can park in village too if you need to. Hellocrete team are fantastic, quick to respond and solve any issues. It was a chilly week in Crete and they organised fire logs for the main lounge which made a super warm fire. Family of 4 age ranges 24-84 and we all loved this special location. We didn’t need one but noticed the baby cot was excellent quality! Unfortunately we didn’t use pool or hot tub but they were beautifully clean. We would definitely book again. The local people so friendly and scenery for walking and nature are stunning.

Stella and her family was friendly and very helpful while we were staying at her families beautiful villa. The villa is stunning and clean. It has all you need while you stay at the villa. Would highly recommend staying at this accommodation. Likely to return in the future! The peacocks add to this beautiful location looking over the mountains of Crete.

We had our honeymoon at Petroc's Airbnb. Such a beautiful place. Our evenings spent looking at the beautiful view from our balcony and using the hot tub is one of our highlights. Lots to see and do nearby. Highly recommended.

Kostas is an amazing host. He made me feel welcome and took the time to not only show me the features of the accommodation but the amenities of the local village and surrounding area. He responded quickly to my questions and made me feel at home once I arrived. He was always available if I needed help with anything. Nestled in a grove of orange and avocado trees, Kostas‘s accommodation is the perfect getaway and yet only a 10 minute walk from the village of Armeni. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Had a great time visiting Crete...Agia Pelagia is a fab place to stay, it's a bit of a walk up a steep hill coming back from the sea front...but unless you have mobility problems don't let it put you off.

We felt super comfortable with John and his family. From the first day, we were actively included in everyday life and always felt very welcome. The room has everything we needed plus some extras 😉 Definitely worth a visit, as you could also reach some beautiful places quickly from there. Most important to us was the village location, far away from tourist strongholds. Thanks for everything

Great house, had everything, even a ping-pong table fully equipped Delightful pool Extremely quiet neighborhood with very nice surroundings and very close to mini markets and taverns At the same time, it is an ideal spot for someone to get to know all the beauties of Rethymno in all directions I would really like to vacation every year in similar homes and such beautiful areas

Heike's place was super well maintained and had everything your heart desires. We felt comfortable and enjoyed our time very much! Heike was also on site on the day of our arrival and personally gave us many helpful tips and explained everything necessary. She was also quickly available to us at any time. Utensils for grilling meat and fish were also fully available. The surrounding small towns with numerous localities are quickly and easily reached by car. If you are athletic, you can also do it on foot :) . But even at home you can unwind, either in a hammock or a lounger.

We loved our stay in Alex's apartment. Tris Ekklisies is a perfect peaceful seaside village, away from the crowds. The beach is so close and we loved the quiet side, finding a spot under a tree for the day. The sea is great for snorkeling and there are a few tavernas to choose from. The drive down the mountain is spectacular, we recommend Sunny Hill Cafe for a drink or some food on the way. The apartment was lovely, bright and comfortable. We hope to be back one day!

Great location. The second floor of the house with a separate entrance. The host's parents live on the ground floor. Super nice people. There is a direct beach access from the house ~200 meters away. Very convenient! All photos are true and all air conditioners work and do a great job in hot weather!

We had a wonderful stay with our two kids at Stavros apartment. The house is very Cosy with a well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom with washing machine, but the best is the great terrace with a stunning view over the area of plakias! There are many nice beaches around which are easy going for children and a lot of good creetan taverns. We recommend a stay in this great location and thank Stavros for his warm welcome and advice during our stay. It is really a one of a kind airbnb! Claudia and family

Beautiful home with spectacular views! Hosts were very kind and met us in the village to personally show us to the house. Great local guide and recommendations for things to do in the area. Evenings reading on the veranda looking over the hills and listening to the village were a dream!

We were allowed to experience an extremely warm and open welcome from Maria and Vasillis at the start of the vacation, the handover, the villa, the delicious and abundant welcome dinner for the first evening incl. wine, water and small snacks, were perfect. We got numerous tips on the surroundings, be it taverns, beaches, culture, everything extremely helpful and informative. The communication was exceptionally good, with immediate answers and active help for questions, we were delighted. The villa offers plenty of space, is very well equipped, even milk frothers and juicers were not missing. Vasillis invited us to go with him on an olive tree tour nearby, which was very informative and endearing. Both hosts are really very warm and helpful. We were completely satisfied and very relaxed - we can only recommend this place to everyone! Thanks also for the numerous gifts at the end, we enjoyed staying with you very much!

Absolutely amazing host and villa. Kosta and his office were brilliant and when we got to the villa we were met by Stella. She could not have done more to make our stay any better; communication was seamless, so many local suggestions, local produce left throughout the stay, the loan of a stoneware pot to use in the pizza oven over tonight to slow cook vegetables, honestly everything and more. The villa is exactly like the photos - stunning. Breath taking location with a view we all miss now we are home. The layout of the villa is excellent; it is beautifully decorated, the outside kitchen area is perfect and much used. The landscaping is wonderful, and the pool is gorgeous. The villa was meticulously cleaned throughout our stay and the pool and garden maintained to the highest standard. We had the most wonderful holiday; thank you so much Stella and your team for everything.

Perfect location! Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, beach and more. Very safe and quiet, yet steps away from everything that you might need.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a fantastic time and stay at Olive Villa. Panagiotis and Olga are an absolutely delightful couple as well as kind, generous and hard-working hosts. It is clear that they both take great pride in their home and also go out of their way to ensure the accommodation and facilities they provide for their guests are of an extremely high standard. We were hugely impressed by and spent a lot of time relaxing in the beautiful garden (immaculately tended) as well as in the swimming pool (very clean and well-maintained) and dining in the outside bbg area (fantastically set out and equipped). We cannot recommend it highly enough and dearly hope to be able to return in the not too distant future!

Lovely villa and garden in a quiet spot. Kostas and Elizabeth were very approachable and responded quickly to any queries. As others have said, the only slight draw back is the approach to the villa down a very narrow drive with a right angled turn which took some manoeuvring even in our smallish car. We got used to it and ultimately this didn't spoil our enjoyment of this beautiful property.

We had the most amazing experience staying at this Airbnb! The house was absolutely stunning with breathtaking views that made every morning special. It was beautifully maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. What truly set this place apart, though, were the incredible hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure our trip was perfect. From arranging convenient transportation from the airport in Heraklion to renting us their car—which was spotless and ideal for exploring Crete—everything was seamless and stress-free. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Crete. We can’t wait to come back!
