Great location! While watching the sun rise over the mountains, we spotted a herd of deer grazing in a field beyond the fence line. Our dogs absolutely loved it here! It’s safe to say, The Dairy Barn is now our new favorite stop. Tasteful decor throughout. Nice kitchen ware. Neat refrigerator with soft lighting, beautiful gas stove with clear directions. If you don’t feel like cooking, we Highly recommend Pizza Perfect on Main (7 minutes down the road). Excellent pepperoni twists & homemade ranch dressing. Thanks again Rebecca and your crew for the clean & cozy stay!

Such a beautiful and peaceful location. It was so easy to get to, the roads were well maintained and the house was spotless. I really appreciated the extra effort like coffee left with creamer and sugar and a little snack basket with individually wrapped pretzels and cookies. I can’t recommend this place enough as it was perfect for my husband, self, and our toddler. Will definitely be returning if in that direction again :)

This place was amazing. House on a hill with vistas 360. Ezekiel could not have been more thoughtful when preparing the house. Completely stacked kitchen and not with cheap stuff- it was all high quality. Beds, furniture bathrooms were expertly done. My family had a wonderful time and getting to know Ezekiel was blessing to us. Wonderful host who truly cares. Pro tip- you are out there- bring what you need. Nothing is close and its totally worth it.

The only thing missing were binoculars!!! What a beautiful, serene place! The four of us had such a good time! The highlight was visiting Tom Wynn’s Cobb Hill Alpaca Farm!! This home is so well built and cared for…everything worked and was up to date. We’ll definitely come again!!

We came to the lake house for a reset. It absolutely did not disappoint! Some of the views felt right out of a movie scene. The hosts were also super responsive, added personable touches to my visit, and had everything I could possible need for a fun & relaxing lake weekend. I especially loved the wrap around porch, the view of the sunrise over the lake, & hummingbirds all around!

We needed a place to stay for 9 nights while we were waiting to close on our new home. We were relocating from Columbia, MO to the Greensboro, NC area with two pets. We had closed on our home in Columbia 2 weeks prior to arriving at Duke’s Place. We had been staying with friends. It felt so good to arrive at Duke’s Place and have it all to ourselves! We were SO pleased when we got there. It is an adorable, quaint little home on an isolated property with a pasture. The home was beautifully decorated and very up to date. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen. I loved the beautiful soaker tub in the bathroom. There is a fenced back yard with a nice tall, wood paneled privacy fence that was perfect for our pets. Taylor is a wonderful host and was incredibly kind and responsive. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!

The back deck makes this house worth every penny. The house is great, big bedrooms, comfy beds and everything’s clean. About 30 mins to Roanoke and 40 mins to Lynchburg. A short 10 min drive or less to Smith Mountain Lake. Definitely recommend this place.

Perfect for dog lovers and lake lovers! I’ve rented various condos at Smith Mountain Lake and several different ones at Stripers Landing, but Shannon’s place is now my new favorite. With a great view, plenty of space and the option to bring the pup - it’s such a treat. Highly recommend.

Jim is one of the most wonderful hosts we have ever had. He was friendly and responsive and made sure that we had everything we could have possibly needed. His place was exactly as described, but the surroundings and peacefulness were even more than we expected. We enjoyed the pool and the bed is super comfortable! We will definitely plan to stay with Jim again when we are in the area.

I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway! Ruth’s place in Galax was the perfect escape after a hectic end to the school year. The home was peaceful, spotless, and beautifully maintained—exactly what I needed to relax and recharge. Ruth was a thoughtful and responsive host, and everything from check-in to check-out was seamless. The quiet surroundings and small-town charm made it even more special. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!

I stayed at Kumi’s place for one night on my way back from a seminar with my working cadaver dog. After a week of working, it was just the relaxing space we needed! I wish we’d had time to stop for more than just a night, I will absolutely be visiting again when it’s warm enough for the pool to be open. The hot tub was delightful for my sore muscles and the shower was super nice. The plants were such a nice surprise and made me feel at home. Kumi was an excellent host and K9 Duke gives her place 4 paws up

From the moment we made our reservation to the moment we checked-out Beata made sure we had everything we could ever want to have the best vacation. Beata’s hospitality truly makes you feel like you are at your dream vacation home. Beata is thoughtful, accommodating, and clearly passionate about providing a top-tier experience. The home is stunning, with a perfect balance of cozy comfort and elegant design filled with every thing you could ever need. The views make every moment feel serene (checkout the sunrise views from any of the balconies). The home feels wonderfully secluded, yet is just minutes away from a charming town filled with shopping, restaurants, and mini-day trips to hiking trails, and beautiful parks—offering the perfect balance of a peaceful retreat and easy access to local adventures. This was our second visit & won't be our last.

Great views of Pilot Mountain. House was just what we were looking for the weekend. Big yard for play. Close to trailhead parking for several trails in and around pilot mountain.

We enjoyed the peaceful quiet location. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Our two pets were welcomed and had a great place to stretch their legs. We were very grateful for the opportunity to stay here.

Absolutely loved the rustic yet extremely comfortable feeling of the room. The West End Café as recommended was phenomenal. Without Dave letting me know that Google maps takes you somewhere wrong I would’ve been lost. However, he was proactive and told me that and I ended up right at the door very easily. Beautiful area quiet felt at home. He actually came and checked on me this morning after I texted and told him I was leaving he came out of the house just to make sure everything was OK. If I have the opportunity to be back there and spend the night again, I will definitely stay at Dave’s place if it’s available. Not sure if it was on purpose or if someone else had left it, but there was even Bud Light in the fridge if I had wanted! Thank you for your hospitality!

Erika’s three story yurt was exactly as pictured - charming and creative! It worked well as a home base for our family while we were in town for a graduation. We look forward to returning when we have more time to hike some nearby trails and relax out on the deck with coffee.

We loved our time here. So peaceful and serene. The cabin was spotless clean and full of charm. A great place to unplug, unwind and be grateful.

Our stay at Hat Creek Camp was short but exceptional. I wondered if we would have enough to do outside of wind down, which was our primary goal. I had no phone service on my apple which was fine with me. My husband’s Samsung had a signal, go figure. We were there to disconnect and let our dog run free. I’ve never seen her so happy, jumping in the lake and stream. Time flew walking the trails, being on the lake, barbecuing and just sitting by the fire pit. I thought we’d need cards but there was no time. The cabin was small but clean. There was nothing that we needed that wasn’t supplied. I wondered why past reviewers mentioned the bed but it was comfy enough to mention. My dog cried after we were gone 10 minutes on our way home. Thought she needed to potty but after a break and 3 hrs home she never went. I think she was missing camp and didn’t want to leave. I know we didn’t.

This is a fantastic cabin tucked away in the trees. The main area inside the cabin was cozy and well stocked (and there was a generous gift basket), and the rooms clean and suprisingly spacious. Beautiful complete wrap-around porch, lovely creek/firepit area with grill provided nearby, and the rockers, hammocks, and glider were perfect for relaxing. I caught and released a couple crawdads and a salamander with my young daughter. There is also a pleasant trail winding maybe a 1 mile loop into the woods. Great place for a weekend getaway.

Southern C’s was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. Scott greeted us upon arrival and introduced us to the property. He was super personable and nice to talk to and was available throughout our entire stay if we needed him. The cabin itself was so unique and antique but with the necessary modern comforts. Our senior dog did struggle at first with the stairs but we carried her up for bedtime at night and eventually she figured them out on her own; they are just steep and widely spaced. It can be a little warm upstairs for a hot sleeper like myself at night but with the fan it cooled off well enough. Highly recommend taking some time to walk around the property and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The horses boarded there as well as the owners horse are incredibly beautiful and well taken care of. If you ask, Scott will introduce you to some. We plan to return here for another trip.
