Family-friendly vacation rentals in Lower Shotover

Jason and Scott are truly Great hosts. Their cottage is amazingly lovely, clean, with a wonderful view and complete amenities. All we need are readily and conveniently available. Instructions are clear, and the place is indeed very guest-friendly. We had a homey and very special experience. The SPA is also a great deal and the view is breathtaking. We will be back, and hopefully longer stay. Thanks to them for sharing their place; we, as a family, just made another priceless memory.

Martin’s place offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It’s about a 15-minute walk into town, which was a bonus given the current traffic and parking challenges in Queenstown. We especially appreciated the electric Weber BBQ - it worked brilliantly. Thanks for hosting us, Martin!

The house was amazing! It was perfect for a large group from 7 month olds to 70 years old. Very clean and comfy beds. Will deffo stay here again. Thanks Peter.

Great house with great view and ammenities, kitchen well equipped. only 30min walk from town, however up a very steep hill, not something you can ride a bike up.

Gorgeous views. Pretty and clean condo. Lots and lots of stairs but was expected and worth it for the views. The spa was perfect and nice after the end of a long day.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful house in Fernhill. The views were breathtaking and peaceful surroundings. It was a nice walk to town as well. The house had everything and more. Would love to come back here. Margaret and Sarah from Relax its Done are absolutely lovely and very responsive.

We are so thankful for Vickie’s hospitality. It was cosy and just what we needed for accommodation. As a base for Queenstown. The views were incredible and peaceful plus the property backed right onto a wonderful trail. We couldn’t have asked for a better host. My husband and I spoiled ourselves for our 30th anniversary to stay in this beautiful house with amazing views. Watching the changing light on the mountains and lake was so restful we didn't want to leave. It was only a $11 Uber into the centre of town on the days we didn't want to drive. The neighbourhood is very quiet - we couldn't believe how well we slept! Very comfortable bed. The kitchen was extremely well equipped along with having plenty of cups and glasses. From the lovely welcome gifts to swift responses, we couldn't have asked for more.

A great place to gather for a family reunion. The house had everything we needed and the facilities are perfect for a large group. Decor a wee bit tired but all very clean and comfortable. The views are incredible!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return

Photos don’t do the view justice. Jeremy was a great host. This is a cabin type experience. We stayed in the winter and used the cottage as a home base for skiing and other activities which was great. Quick ride over to Arrowtown and Queenstown but far away enough to feel private and peaceful. Some important points regarding previous reviews I read about the place being “cold”…the ground floor is all slate stone…as Jeremy recommended, just bring some sandals or slippers to wear around. There is a large heat pump, a lovely pot belly stove, and space heaters and all the beds have blanket heaters which we actually didn’t use because they were too hot…so it’s easy to stay warm and the view and coziness are well worth it, but if you’re expecting a thermostat in a hotel room that you set and leave…this wouldn’t be the place for you. We loved our stay and the host was very responsive.

Stu’s guesthouse was a lovely getaway in New Zealand! Close to Queenstown, ZQN airport, and to many outdoor activities. Very peaceful and private, soft linens, and felt right at home. It’s clear that this is not a cookie cutter Airbnb, but a real guesthouse, and it shows in the fit and finish of the property, and Stu’s helpful and kind approach to hosting. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Accommodation was Exactly as described in the listing, couldn’t fault Wendy as a host, super responsive and friendly. Apartment had Comfortable beds and great shower, and super close to the airport which was handy for our needs.

Totally recommend this place 10/10! Such a beautiful house, amazing views and garden, lots of activities to do at home. The house has every thing we needed. Perfectly clean and has unique feature. We would come back to stay here again if we visiting Queenstown again. And Deborah also is very kind to greet us and show us around.

We had the most beautiful stay at Suzanne's house and were so pleasantly surprised with all the property. Suzanne would be the friendliest and most helpful host and nothing was ever a hassle for her. We had an issue with the stove and she spent ages trying to work out a solution and not once made us feel like we were being a hassle. Her property is on beautiful acreage about 10 mins from the business of Queenstown main streets and as soon as you drive in, you feel completely relaxed and could stay there forever. If you love to stay at unique places which will create more travel memories, then I highly recommend this property. Suzanne gave us lots of tips for local travel and we really appreciated her knowledge. Thank you for a memorable time in Queenstown.

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation was comfortable, warm and convenient. We had 3 adults stay and the space was used very well. Great amenities in the kitchen. Bathroom was clean. Great stay overall.

Fantastic location, clean and tidy. Lovely and warm on cooler evenings. So handy being 2 minutes walk to the Cadrona pub for dinner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Scott and Teresa’s and would definitely stay again. The living space and kitchen area is big with more than enough room for our family of four. The bedrooms are big enough for suitcases and moving around, comfy beds and bathrooms great. A lovely gas fireplace, heaters in two of the bedrooms and beds had electric blankets. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and only a short walk into Arrowtown or across to Millbrook.

We had a wonderful stay at Tracy's home! Upon arrival, we were in awe of the modern property and beautiful surroundings. There was a blend of rain and sun during our stay, so we took advantage of every space. The home's interior is both contemporary and comfortable, with a sitting room and living room on one end and bedrooms and bathrooms on the other. A great layout. The outdoor space is generous, with a large deck, roomy seating area, and excellent pool to take in the mountain views. If you're lucky, you'll get a visit from the adorable neighborhood cat. This home was in a great central location for all of our activities – close to the action, yet far enough away for peace and seclusion. We hope to return someday!
