Family-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Cowichan

We had a wonderful stay! We loved that there are trails accessible by foot from the cabin. (Just walk up the gravel road about 3 minutes.) We discovered that a great morning routine for us was to have coffee, walk through the forest, enjoy the morning light on the ocean, and head back to the cabin for breakfast. Peaceful and relaxing :) Henny is a great host. She shared a ton of wonderful information about places to go and yummy restaurants on the island. The cabin itself is cozy, charming, and quiet. The bed is comfortable, a high priority for me! We also appreciated that we could bring our dog and that she could be off-leash in the grassy area around the cabin.

Absolutely stunning location - saw loads of wildlife from the terrace, and an amazing view over the water. Property was also very well supplied with a super modern kitchen and ample bed and bath space. Will be back!

I stayed here with my Mom and two sisters- it was perfect! The hot tub overlooks the beach and is under a gorgeous canopy of trees that kept us dry from the rain. We had hummingbirds and quails visit us while we ate breakfast on the patio under a wisteria tree. The house is very cozy with everything you need and so many interesting things to look at. We went to Duncan and spent the day at the Farmer's Market, then had dinner just down the street, overlooking the water, while watching seals and birds fish. We are already discussing making the trip an annual event and plan to go again next year!

We had a great stay. The surroundings were peaceful and relaxing, with great views. The bed was super comfortable and the place was equipped with everything we needed. Jacquie's a great host, very friendly and kind, and had great suggestions for what to do on the island. Would definitely go again.

Caroline’s home is clean and comfortable and has stunning views. The upper deck was a wonderful place to relax and converse with friends! Caroline is a wonderful host. She provided excellent suggestions to make our stay even more enjoyable than originally planned. She is responsive and kind! I highly recommend Caroline’s home!

We enjoyed a four night stay at Gabrielle’s house. It is a beautiful spacious house with beautiful views over the water. There is a big deck with plenty of seating including a dining set for those warm evenings. There is access to a private dock which is great for fishing. It is up water from the ferry terminal at Long Harbour so there was very little traffic on the water, ideal for fishing or just enjoying the peace and quiet. We even enjoyed a visit from a local deer, grazing quietly on the banking by the garage. The house is clean and has a very well equipped kitchen and ample seating. Bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. In the lounge there were books and guides plus a few games to suit all ages plus pbinoculars to study the wildlife. Food shops, restaurants and other facilities are a 10 minute drive into Ganges and there is a local market on Saturdays with a selection of artisan stalls. Gabrielle was a very responsive host, and easy check in/out Certainly recommend.

This was probably the best Airbnb experiences we’ve had! Janet is a great host and it is clear that she really cares about helping to create memorable experiences for guests. She has gone above and beyond to provide anything you might need for cooking and comfort. We wished we could have spent more time enjoying the house any yard, but relaxing with bbq and hot tub after our long days of site seeing with was the perfect end to our two evenings!

Priceless views and amazing architecture are showpieces of this magnificent home that combines coziness, elegance, comfort and rustic charm. We’ve stayed at many airbnbs, but this one is a new favorite. It’s an ideal getaway for the whole family; plus it’s close to interesting hikes and restaurants. The kitchen is well stocked for eating at home. We didn’t enjoy the taste of the well water, but bought drinking water at Tru Value. Carley was very responsive and helpful throughout. We would love to come back in the summer.

We had such a great stay at Niki and Neal's cottage. Everything was as described, if not better! We couldn't have been happier with the location and set-up in the cottage. We enjoyed friendly interactions with Niki and Neal + equally pets, appreciated some very tasty homemade treats and learned about the local swimming lake that was close by. I would have been very happy to stay in Fulford Harbor for much longer, soaking up the local flavor / nature / hiking / swimming that is all close enough to not even need a car (although we did have and use one).

Beautiful property and very cool house; as advertised. The owners live on the same property in a seperate building, but they give you your privacy and it didn't bother us at all. Love the way the place was decorated, and the master bed was very comfortable (can't speak for the other 2 beds as there was only my partner and I). The deer and rabits outside the window when we woke up was a nice surprise! It is about a 25min drive away to get anywhere, but the country neighborhood is nice to drive through. Lots of walking/hiking trails in the area. Would recommend!

We really loved this place and will be back again soon. It was everything as described and while we couldn’t find the frogs, the serene garden and pond area was peaceful and relaxing. The hummingbirds were also a delight to watch when sitting out on the deck with the surrounding forest. The cabin was clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything you’d need to cook including the extras like spices. Really liked all of the candles in various places, it was so easy to unwind. The location was great too. Nestled in the forest, there was lots of privacy, but only a short jaunt to the grocery store or the beach and the Surf Lodge, which I would recommend. Good food, very good outdoor live music, and unobstructed views of the ocean and sunset while you eat. Gorgeous part of the world.

We had a wonderful stay at Susie’s suite! It was private, spacious and had everything we needed and more. We especially appreciated Susie’s flexibility with our check out time! Can’t wait to be back!

Fish Tales exceeded my expectations. Denise made sure everything went smoothly

We had a wonderful 5-night stay at Poirier Cove. The location is magnificent, right on the seafront. We saw eagles, seals, lots of small birds - even a hummingbird. There are lots of lovely provincial parks nearby with great walks. We particularly enjoyed walking on the Galloping Goose trail to the Todd Creek trestle bridge. Corinne was very helpful and friendly. The cottage was comfortable with huge windows looking over the sea to snow-capped mountains in the USA.

This was the second time we stayed at the Haidaway each stay was for a full month. Clearly we love it there, lovely accommodation in a super location. We did lots of hiking and sightseeing. Five stars all the way!

This place was GORGEOUS. The layout of the house is so nice and big. Perfect for our trip. My husband and I traveled with our medium/large dogs and a friend and we never felt on top of each other. The kitchen and dining room were huge! They had everything possible to cook with. We thought we’d be eating out for our three night stay but ended up cooking two of the nights! The backyard is magical. Hummingbirds galore. The pond provides beautiful sounds all day. Beds were comfy and pillows weren’t stiff. The hot tub was a dream. Felt like a resort. This place is a real gem. We already booked another stay!

We had a lovely stay at Billie’s place while visiting Salt Spring for a soccer tournament, and for our first trip with our new puppy! The place was very clean, lots of space, the kitchen had a large fridge and freezer for our snacks, and the bed was extremely comfortable. I even okayed the piano for the first time in years there! We enjoyed having a mudroom to take our boots/cleats/shoes off in and wipe our puppy’s paws before going inside. There’s also a nice lawn in front where we could play with the pup and it was walking distance from the local cidery. Overall it felt like our home away from home during our busy weekend visit.

We’ve stayed at the Inn Of the Sea many time and been lucky to stay at both of Tammy’s condos. We come and go from the area all the time for work and it’s hard to go back to a hotel after discovering the condos.

This was a great airbnb. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and wanted some extra space vs. a hotel room. For less money we had a whole suite to ourselves, with room to lounge, eat, cook, etc. the location was great, suite was well stocked with cutlery, glasses, and everything we needed, and the TV had all the streaming services installed. The instructions for check in were exceptional.

Beautiful property. walking the beach, swimming at the pool, we enjoyed our stay. The accommodation were wonderful. (as described, spacious.) Hope to go again. Thank you Pat for the games and Beautiful kitchen, bedrooms ect.

Excellent location to stay for those visiting Victoria, easy to walk to lots of places and centrally located. Place is in a very nice building, very modern and nice apartment great for two people. I would definitely stay again if in Victoria and recommend it to others.

Derek’s place was very clean and cozy. It was very welcoming and we felt like home when we stayed at his place. My family were very comfortable while staying there and Derek was also easy to communicate wiith. Overall we had a wonderful time.
