A beachfront studio unit sleeping 5 on the same large rural beachfront property as Penguins Retreat and Whitebait Cottage. We had to book this home immediately as our previous accommodation was unavailable. We had travelled 3 hours and as soon as I booked the home, Rob allowed us to head there right away instead of waiting for the check-in time. He called to make sure we made it in the house comfortably as well as being on call the entire time if I had a question or query. He was friendly and saved the trip! The view of the lake is beautiful too! The train runs in-front of the house and at first we thought it may be annoying but actually we enjoyed seeing it go past and it didn’t interrupt our sleep. The house is in walking distance to local tracks and to the lake. Fantastic weekend, thank you Rob!

Deborah's cottage was very luxurious and super clean. Greeted with a lit fireplace which was very welcoming. Amenities provided were top quality. One of the most comfortable beds we have slept in during the last 6 weeks of our travels. Deborah was friendly and generous. She supplied us with fresh eggs and milk, real coffee, delicious cookies and even produce from her garden. Wish we could have stayed longer.

For me, this was exactly what an Air BNB should be; a place that feels like you are visiting an old friend, that you are staying in a home not just a house. It is an older property compared to some I have stayed in recently but none the worse for it; well equipped with everything you would have in your own home. The location has reasonable access to Arthur’s Pass an Tussocklands and is right next to castle hill. Perfect areas for tramping, climbing and skiing. Wow... That was our main word for this stay. The location and view was incredible. It instantly felt like a real relaxing getaway. We noticed some issues around cleanliness that I will share directly with the host so that they are aware, as this place deserves the best! The hot tub was an absolute highlight. Such a friendly and responsive host to chat to online. We had a fabulous time here and we definitely hope to return to this oasis on the hill!
