Just 60km drive away from the bustling streets of Mombasa and the tourist center of Malindi, Kilifi offers a refreshing taste of pristine untouched coastline. Start your mornings with the smell of freshly brewed Kenyan coffee, sunrise yoga and a dip in the pool. Fill your days sunbathing on Bofa beach, reef snorkeling in crystal clear waters, exploring nearby ruins or playing Beach Volleyball at sunset. Dream without falling asleep--at night enjoy a moonlit dhow sail, beach bonfires, live music and a starry bioluminescent sea. When staying at our haven you will be able to experience the peaceful sounds of nature during the week. Also, get ready to discover the awesome musical scene we offer on the weekends.
As a travellers heaven, Distant Relatives offers a pocket-friendly alternative to other coastal accommodations. Choose from camping under the stars, airy dormitories, safari tents, private rooms and spacious ensuite Bandas with their own private gardens and courtyards. Our philosophy has always been to work around nature, rather than making nature work around us. All of our accommodations intertwine with the surrounding environment, connect us with the natural world and minimize our footprint wherever possible.

Bar: Our bar is open daily from 7:30am to 11:30pm. We are fully-stocked with a wide range of beers, spirits, sodas, cocktails, and refreshing home-made specialties.

Restaurant: Feast on local and international cuisine at our restaurant. Gaze out over the pool as you enjoy break, lunch, dinner and snacks! Enjoy our mouth-watering wood fired pizza as you listen to live music on Friday nights.

Communal Kitchen: Open all hours of the day and fully stocked with all cooking essentials.

Communal Lounge Areas: Chill-out after a day of adventure on our comfy home-made pillows both inside our lounge area and by the pool.

Swimming Pool: Our salt water pool is the perfect place to cool off in at all hours of the day.

Beach Access: Just a short walk from the compound you’ll find Fumbini Beach--perfect for watching sundowns, stargazing and swimming among the glowing bioluminescent water. A quick boda ride brings you to the sprawling white sands of Bofa Beach.

Eco-Friendly Facilities: Built into a bamboo forest are our communal showers. Rinse off in the most natural and wild setting. Our toilets are eco-friendly, waterless and provide fertilizer to keep our gardens happy and healthy!

Local Adventures: There's no shortage of adventures to be had in and around Kilifi. From dhow sailing to village tours to snorkeling and scuba diving, kite surfing, kayaking, supping there's something for everyone.

Onsite Activities: For those looking to stay closer to home we off a wide range of activities. Sunset yoga, beach volleyball, permaculture tours and swimming in the dreamy bioluminescence of Kilifi Creek are some of the few activities you can participate in.
