Historically Gilleleje is an old fishing village and it was here that many Jews were transported to Sweden during World War II. Gilleleje Church was a waiting place for Jews until they could be transported. In 1943, 75 Jews were caught by the Gestapo on the church ceiling after a snitch had informed the Germans. Everywhere there are monuments of historical events. Every year there are various festivals in Gilleleje - "Hill" Festival, Harbour Festival, Jazz at the port and The Herring Day. The cottage overlooks the fields, is isolated, has electricity, heating, a kitchenette and a comfortable sofa that becomes a small double bed. Enjoy the two terraces and running water in the treetop and toilet with sink below the cabin. Possibility of additional purchase: Breakfast (175 kr/2 pers.) - wilderness bath (350 kr) or one of our 2 outdoor 'escape rooms' (150 kr/ children, 200 kr/ adults). Esrum is a small quit village placed 50km outside Copenhagen. Esrum is beautiful situated next to one of Denmark greatest forest, Gribskov, and in working distance to Esrum Lake. Gribskov offers many outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and much more. Esrum monastery is placed 100meter from the house, and offers museum and different activities. In the daytime there are a Café serving light dishes. Nearest grocery store is in the next village, 3km away.

Next to the house is the main house where sometimes there can be someone. The house is nice with a nice kitchen and bathroom and everything a house should have. 10 min walk from lovely sandy beach. There is free access to kayaks, sup, firepit, bikes and fishing poles. New VILDMARKSBAD and ICE BATH are for a fee.

The apartment is in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is a two-minute walk to Hornbæk Plantage. It is a dog forest and it only takes 10 minutes to walk down to the coast. Dogs are welcome, but we are old school and do not accept dogs in the bed, chair, sofa and other furniture. Your dog must be able to sleep on the floor and we are happy to provide a dog bed.
