Slad - lovely rural views

MaxRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Cathy and Robin are fantastic hosts - friendly, generous and welcoming - so it was wonderful to be back in their beautiful home in scenic Slad after a three-year break. We had another peaceful, relaxing stay (and enjoyable meal at The Woolpack). It's such a pleasure to wake up to that amazing view across the valley but we're always so sad to leave. We look forward to our next visit.

Small double, ensuite, 1st floor; light breakfast

JanRating, 5 stars1 week ago
During the 2 weeks with Cherry Ann, I settled in with the warmest of welcomes; and found there was more there than I could possibly need there. An abundance of breakfast choices; lovely cotton bedding; a sitting area; 3 loft windows to enjoy sunlight, moonlight and breezes, and the joy of taking baths (if you need strong water pressure and, or showers, this isn't your home. The range of books is brilliant. So too is Cherry Ann's deep knowledge of her area and so much else. I'm grateful for the heads-up and complimentary tickets to museum presentations. Historically, these are textile valleys. Now, there is every manner of creative arts endeavours. Stroud is an excellent town for slow travel and local-feel, food places are: Woody's, Saturday's Farmer's Market, Star Anise, Woodruffs, Sunshine Food Store and Plastic Free Provisions. 3 full supermarkets in easy walking. Then, Waitrose is a longer, pleasant, canal. Tip: look for Berry Blue with Google Maps to begin to find Cherry's place.

Everything was exactly as specified and it really was an easy and pleasant experience. I’d highly recommend Frog Cottage to anyone and we will definitely be back next time we are in the Stroud area. If you are reading this review, don’t delay and book Frog Cottage now, you won’t regret it!

Quiet room overlooking the garden

Yi-YingRating, 5 stars1 week ago
It is a homey, quiet and clean accommodation, and you also get a lot of your own space. Really enjoyed my stay in Sheila’s. She was very thoughtful, always tried her best to help: 1: like making sure the comforter is comfortable enough for me by asking my preference prior to my arrival. 2: clear guidance : recommend for my trail routes as she loves walking too; she definitely knows a lot about it. 3: homey breakfast: she literally displayed everything she has for the breakfast on the kitchen table, like cereal, butter & jams, toasts…so that the guests don’t need to dig them out from the cabinet. Although it was a self-service breakfast, I enjoyed her being so careful. 4: tidy: Her house is just so tidy, really love about this. 5: she loves animals and nature, I noticed she used vegan shampoo and shower gel. :) 6: loves that she has real flowers in many corners of her house……. I will definitely revisit her house if I ever stop by Stroud again.
