Cabin vacation rentals in Hancock County

Juan’s place was as pictured and clean. Juan was easy to communicate with and helpful. We had two couples and two younger kids and the place had ample room for family gathering and space for the kids to play. The home is a lovely updated log cabin with beautiful timber framing visible on the interior. Extra lighting turns what would normally be a dimly lit cabin into a bright, modern space. Thoughtful touches, fans, humidifiers, throughout provide customizable comfort.

Beautiful location! Very windy roads to get there so be careful driving. Amazing view and access to lake. Overall very clean aside for the bathroom floor in basement. Host was easy to communicate with but unfortunately was not amenable to our request to check in early (even by just an hour).

I put 5 stars here on everything. now let me explain. This cabin is a perfect get away if you are looking to get away if you are looking for peace and solitude. It is somewhat remote. If you don't mind driving through some gorgeous mountain scenery to get to places then it's perfect for you. There is a pool to float around in and just relax. Terri is easy to communicate with. Enjoyed the stay.

Great little place for a weekend getaway. Very private. Beautiful property surrounded by trees and wildlife. The Cabin is very nice and we really enjoyed our stay. The hot tub was perfect and very relaxing. Will recommend and be back ourselves. Allyson was a great host and very responsive to our text and questions.

What a wonderful, peaceful environment to stay in! We loved the well-documented history of this house, as well the unique layout and feel of the home! It is surrounded by the amazing beauty and serenity of the surrounding property! Sitting on the front porch and back patio areas any time of day was so relaxing! The neighboring roads running along the beautiful river were also a great place to walk and bike. The house is in good proximity to a great variety of parks and recreational areas, as well as nearby towns and cities for dining or shopping. The kitchen is very well stocked for helping with food prep and meals. The owners and hosts were so welcoming and accommodating to us with personal touches and communication before and during our stay. They made us feel very comfortable and attended to, yet still free to enjoy our space and time. We would definitely consider returning to stay here in future and would highly recommend it to others visiting the area.

We stayed at Miranda’s place as a stopping point from Chicago to Charlotte. It was perfect for what we needed. We have a dog that has stranger danger issues, so being in a remote location with privacy was great! The only issue was that due to storms the previous days, we had no internet, so couldn’t get ahold of family easily to let them know we made it— I did learn you can send texts via satellite which was wild! Miranda does say in her listing that this happens and she texted me ahead of time that the internet wasn’t working. Otherwise, everything was just fine!

This was the perfect place to stay on my trip to meet up with my sister. She was camping nearby and I got this cabin. The day before I was asked if I wanted a pack n play because I was bringing my baby and of course I said yes because it would be one less thing to pack. We had a long travel day and when we checked in I saw they set up the pack n play and put sheets on it for me! It was such a nice gesture and I felt it was so sweet. They also put out snacks for us and le croix in the fridge for me - it was like they knew us! The location was beautiful. From the porch we could hear the river, birds chirping, and the occasional train passing. We took their recommendation to go to natural tunnel park which was so fun and the kids loved it! I would definitely stay here again! Thank you guys!

Location was amazing! loved the farm and seeing all the cows,secluded enough where it was comfortable and peaceful which is exactly what we was wanting. Linda was very helpful and nice and sweet along with the people tending the farm. definitely recommend for those who love farm views and privacy

My family and I had a wonderful stay 🤗 The cabin is beautiful and cozy and the view was stunning! We spent a lot of our time out on the balcony enjoying the view, walking our dogs around the area and in the living room watching movies 🎥 Only complaint is that when we arrived after driving 15hrs to get there, the cabin was unfortunately dirty. Very dusty, dirty bathrooms, bedsheets were stained and did not look or smell washed at all, trash and clothes left over from previous guests were littered on closet floors. It looked like the cleaning crew was not in the mood to do their jobs 😅 We arrived around 6pm, very tired from our trip and had to put all our bed sheets to wash and clean all the mess left behind :( Our host was kind enough to refund the cleaning fee. (Also the WiFi was VERY slow) But we did not let any of that ruin our trip so overall we had a great time! 🌟

We had a wonderful time. It was a beautiful, cozy, comfortable, and peaceful environment. We loved fishing , sitting on the porch rocking, and having a fire in the fire pit. It was exactly as described. We will definitely return. Bunny and Gene are wonderful people to share a piece of their loveliness with others. ❤️❤️❤️

River retreat was quaint tiny home, but don’t let it size fool you. It was packed with all the amenities that one would need for a quick weekend getaway. With the river, a short trot away and kayaks readily available you wouldn’t be spending much time inside the house anyway. Alicia was excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed.

Perfect place for my husband’s family yearly reunion, the house is an old country home, that’s what my husband and sisters loved the most. There is a barn, like an old small church, they were amazed by it, they spent a good time there singing hymns and praising. Lovely and memorable time for the family. The perfect spot! My family and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Rustic Retreat. The view and surrounding property was beautiful and peaceful! The sunrises were stunning. The cabin itself was cozy and delightful with everything needed to make our stay comfortable. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Mabe cabin is awesome. Located in the bottom of a valley. Waking up to the beautiful hillsides as we enjoyed our morning coffee. Loved the wild turkey hen every morning coming down off the roost. The views from the top of the mountains are u describable. A must see.

This is an exceptional destination. Absolutely beautiful and the river was very relaxing to hear. The mountains and the animals we saw were an added bonus. It is everything and more than we were hoping for. We will absolutely return.

Our stay was wonderful and cozy. Aside from a small inconvenience the first night, we felt well taken care of. Phil was super responsive and handled our issue professionally and timely. The space was perfect for my family of 5 (6 including myself) to come to and celebrate my son’s graduation. Thank you, Phil!

The pictures just dont do this place justice. The cabin was beautiful, the nature was peaceful. Our 3 year old and 15 year old enjoyed the out doors so much. Would recommend.

Sweet little cabin with a lovely view of the river. Amanda even had it all decorated for Christmas! It was super cold during our stay and the cabin stayed nice and toasty warm. Bed was divinely comfortable. Amanda was great to deal with and even left us fresh eggs. A couple of notes for potential guests..the driveway is extremely steep. We have a big 4wd vehicle but a 2wd car might find it challenging. Also FYI, restaurants that serve alcohol are few and far between in the area, so if you are looking for a cocktail with dinner, you will struggle.
