Family-friendly vacation rentals in Grant County

Where to even start? This cabin was the absolute best. We went with a total of 8 adults and 6 children under the age of 5. The cabin was so much more spacious than the photos make it appear, which was a very pleasant surprise. The finished basement is huge and was a great space for the kids. The kitchen was very well equipped and spacious for us to cook meals and snacks. The beds were comfortable and the walls are thick and you can’t hear a lot of outside noise. The location is great - about 10 minutes to Davis and 15 to Thomas and plenty of hiking and other activities. Our Apple Maps didn’t route us to the right place, but G00gle Maps did, just as an FYI. Seriously can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.

Cute and cozy place. We had 5 adults, an infant and a large dog and had plenty of room. Location was central to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley and 30 minutes from Seneca Rocks. Great place to stay.

This was the perfect spot for a honeymoon. The cabin was gorgeous and had some Christmas decor which was very festive. I’d recommend to anyone and would love to come back.

Enjoyed my stay. Building is one half of a 2 unit townhome but felt very private, both inside and out. Hot tub and fireplace both were easy to work with clear instructions for hot tub use. Place was clean and cozy with comfortable beds. Location was convenient to the ski areas, and a nice view of Timberline was available through the trees from the back porch or hot tub area. The office for check in was about a 6 minute drive from the property, and check in was hassle free, with a simple pick up and drop off box for the keys. Matt was responded very quickly (less than 10 minutes) to a question I had while driving to the property. Kitchen appliances are a little old but everything is perfectly functional and well stocked in terms of dishes and cookware. It’s a great value and I would recommend to others.

My husband and I stayed here for four days. It was awesome. The only thing that we had an issue with was the price of the cleaning fee because the place was already very clean and we are not dirty people so we kept it fairly neat ourselves and made sure everything was the same as we left it.. and also could’ve used a outside barbecue grill. Other than that. Our steak was great and we used the hot tub every day we was there place was beautiful

Beautiful, large, and inviting home with plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed how close it was to hiking in Dolly Sods and enjoyed our time at the cabin as well - which had a games room and a hot tub. Thank you for the fantastic stay!

Gorgeous cabin at an unbeatable price! We take a ski trip at least once a year, and this was by far the nicest spot we've stayed at in the Canaan Valley. During our stay it snowed over a foot which made for an absolutely astounding landscape. The icicles hanging from the roof, the snow covering the abundant trees, it felt like we were staying in a painting. The cabin was the perfect size for the seven of us, with wood beams and walls giving us the motif we were looking for during our ski trip. And the hot tub functioned perfectly giving us the relaxation needed after a long day on the slopes. A word of caution: The rental office was extremely proactive and helpful with information and advice, but make sure to heed all of it! They strongly recommended a 4WD car with chains, so that's what we went with. When snowy, the road up this mountain really does necessitate tire chains; we felt comfortable with them on, and were certainly glad to have them. Saw a few chainless cars get stuck.

We really enjoyed our stay over Thanksgiving weekend. There were plenty of kitchen appliances & tools that came in handy (2crockpots, lots baking sheets, etc) . The hot tub was immaculate and the cabin was stocked with hundreds of games/puzzles to keep us entertained.

Fabulous house with detached suite for privacy for our group. Very clean and comfortable with many amenities. Walk right to Davis to shop and eat! Fireplace added warmth and camp vibes! Will come again!

I was looking for an escape from the pressures of the city for me and my teenager & am so glad I found this place, because our experience at Cabin C at Abrams Creek with Michael as host could not have been more perfect. The site is incredibly gorgeous—our dog was in 7th heaven—and it was impossible not to feel happy waking up to the sound of the rushing creek, and going to sleep warm & cozy in the loft thanks to the electric heat, listening to the forest sounds or thunderstorms on the nights it rained. I was surprised to find a full-size fridge (and microwave!) in the cabin, which made our longer stay so much nicer, and when I needed to get work done or participate in remote meetings, I just set up on the porch in front of the lodge where the wifi is strong and reliable. It was the most relaxing and beautiful "office" I've ever worked in. Michael was kind, generous, and immediately attentive to our every need. We will be returning often!

My fiance and I had an AMAZING time here this past weekend, such a beautiful hidden gem. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the creek and walking around the woods in the morning. You can tell the place is well loved and run by genuine people. Theres so much to explore around and we were given a whole list of places to visit! Already planning more trips to come visit again!

Away from busy our lives; this place is a perfect escape for a couple of nights, to reset and get back to everyday lives. My boyfriend and I came here during March and it was chilly, but still so nice; the trees, the privacy, and the view generally are all peaceful. Made me think during the summer this would be an even better place! The hosts were friendly and they were transparent and clear with communication. I am impressed for a place like this to be able to give my boyfriend and me a sense of peace! Would recommend this for a quick escape or a retreat!

We booked James’s place at the last minute, and we chose it for the location rather than the accommodation. However, when we arrived we had a wonderful surprise, because it was much nicer than the photos had let us to believe. It was spacious and comfortable, with a good-sized kitchen and a lovely sitting area. The kids loved having the playground outside, and it was amazing to soak in the hot tub surrounded by snow, watching the stars come out. We also enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool and games room, and visiting the ponies at the riding centre. The kids sledded down the hill outside and we also went sledding at Blackwater Falls, which was fantastic. The waterfall looked so beautiful with all the icicles. We didn’t have time to try Timberline, but the skiing at Canaan Valley was reasonably priced and great fun. We also had a few nice meals in Davis and Thomas, and a beautiful walk to Douglas falls. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we will definitely come again if we can…

Friends and family members rented several cabins at Black Bear for a wonderful weekend! Joan’s description warns that AWD is needed at this time of year—and it is. 🤪. Maintenance at Black Bear was extremely responsive when one of our group had difficulty getting out of the resort due to snow/ice. Nice to have the covered back porch to take off snowy wet clothes/boots.

We stayed at David's wonderful home for a few days around the New Year's. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfortable and the gas fireplace was really comforting when it was cold and stormy outside. wonderful location close to the national wildlife refuge, State Parks and the great little towns of Davis and Thomas West Virginia. highly recommended!

My wife and I needed a trip away from the city for the long holiday weekend where we could enjoy some good activity in peaceful surroundings with our dog. This cozy pedestal cabin in Black Bear Resort was just what we were looking for. Check in was easy by picking up the keys at the resort lodge. The place had everything we needed to a cook a couple nights for ourselves, including the gas grill on the deck. The wall-mounted 4K flatscreen TV with Roku let us relax after three active days out and about in Canaan Valley while we listened to the thunderstorms roll over the mountains each evening. This would certainly be a fine place for folks (especially with kids -- there were two sets of bunk beds in the loft) to use a base for their WV adventures any time of year!

5 star stay here in Davis. The space is beautiful and spacious end unit townhouses on two levels. The hot tub was brand new and water was pristine. Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. There is a lovely community space a few feet away with playground, pool and lake. I would highly recommend this place

We had a great stay at this cabin. Was a great price, clean and as exactly as described, beautiful views and close distance to many hiking trails and restaurants.
