Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Gjirokastër

Hidden gem in Gjirokaster, away from the noise, but walkable to the castle and bazaar. House and grounds are just beautiful and the experience of staying in a three hundred year old building is not to be missed. Plenty of beds, two tiny full baths, and an amazing breakfast in the courtyard. Just fantastic. Make sure to follow the markers to Kubeja, as gps gets a little tricky in the neighborhoods.

We cannot say enough about this apartment and the host's grandparents who live below the unit. The space was roomy and clean and very comfortable, with outstanding views off the bedroom balcony. We were within easy walking distance of Old Town and New Town and all of teh great restaurants in Gjirokaster. Simon's relatives invited us for drinks and dessert one night and we spent over an hour laughing and sharing stories, all through Google translate as we do not speak Albanian. They then brought us freshly baked donuts the night before we left. Their hospitality was extraordinary!

DON'T hesitate...book. this place is unreal. It is so unique. The little touches and the ambiance set this place apart. The host is amazing. So very accommodating.

The apartment was spacious and comfortable. Right in the heart of the old town, just a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants. Lovely views of the mountains and Ottoman houses from the terrace. Be aware that the road is very steep. As 3 people in our 60s (one with arthritis) we could manage it but it was a struggle, especially with suitcases. The parking space was invaluable (most streets too narrow for on street parking). Theofilos family were very helpful and the neighbours all friendly. Highly recommended! One warning - if you are a timid driver, avoid driving round the old town - the narrow streets, poor signage, steep slopes and hectic traffic can be very stressful!

Very good location. Lovely place. At the center of everything

Lovely house close to the city center with a balcony and beautiful views over the city. Furnishings are appropriate for the house with beautiful bedrooms and a basic kitchen and bathroom. For us fine. We spent a lot of our time on the balcony, where it was wonderful to stay. We parked the car on the street, which went fine. Keep in mind very narrow and steep streets, so driving here is a challenge! Contact with the host went smoothly.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Ela Chalet, it was right in the middle of the city everything was close and easy to reach. The Chalet was clean and well kept and we would absolutely stay again.

We stayed one night and it was great ! It was easy to find as it is just up hill with signs pointing you in the right direction. It is a family run business and it really felt like home away from home. We slept well, the widows have mosquitos nets, the view was impeccable and breakfast was delicious. I would 100% recommend Grandmas House to anyone visit for a night or more.

My booking with Aurora was last minute. She was very communicative and flexible. Her apartment is super clean. brand spanking new. I was able to utilize the washing machine too after two weeks of backpacking. Highly recommend.

Andi's place was awesome! I arrived quite late into Gjirokastra and Andi was super flexible with check-in. He kept in touch by message and met me at his shop to show me into the apartment and offered to help me with my bags and such. He's a great guy, very friendly and gave me some good tips about wandering up to the castle, he also let me keep my car in his allocated space, even after I'd checked out - very thoughtful of him! From Andi's apartment, it's a shortish (but VERY steep) walk up to Gjirokastra old town (amazing sights and souvenirs) and the castle (also very amazing, and well worth a trip for panoramic views of the city!). The apartment was clean, very spacious and had all the amenities such as slippers for the shower, nice hot water, a fridge for my water, a massive bedroom and little kitchenette and bathroom, shower gel etc. Really great stay, really awesome guy, strongly recommend Andi's apartment(s)!!

Delicious atmosphere in this neighborhood. Well located. Very friendly and correct son and father. Only showering is awkward. Definitely recommended for 1 -3 nights!

While walkable to town, driving was much more pleasant. great parking, great beds, and very clean. The host was proactive and the place was better than the photos. I highly recommend. great balcony too!

Loved our stay! The accommodation was exactly as described: clean, well-appointed, with all the essentials to have a great time. It is also in a very good location, close enough to the center, which is very convenient. And most importantly, the host was super friendly and welcoming. It was a really pleasant stay — we would recommend it without hesitation!

Wonderful and responsive hosts! The location is great, outside of the busy city but close to a taxi stand so you can get to exploring quickly!

We absolutely loved staying at this little place in the heart of Gjirokaster - it had so much character and made at feel right at home. We were so greatful for the hospitality of Edit’s brother Tony, helping us with finding a place to park & his recommendations. We also recommend Te Kubé, (the cafe the hosts’ own).The pistachio cookie was next level!!

Stunning location! a bit tricky to find but we were directed by one of the locals and Adi's mother was there to great us. The rooms were lovely, clean and showers good. Breakfast was prepared by Adi and his mother, and was delicious!

Our stay was really great, the place is quite calm but 15-20 walk from the center. Their is a parking spot in the house so very practical. Devi is very communicative and is here for any questions. I recommend.

The apartment is as described, clean and well located. On the other hand, it is difficult to find with the little information given by the host. You have to look on Google Maps for the Gps point "Apartments Antigona" if you want to avoid the coasts at 20% and the cobblestone streets.

Great place with parking in front of the house, about 15 min walk to downtown. A little hard to find with Google Maps, but Anduela gave us detailed instructions. The apartment is sparkling clean and has everything you need. We felt very comfortable and recommend the apartment without reservation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Katerina’s place. It was in a drivable distance from the city’s center and offered quiet respite from the noise. Katerina was generous enough to accommodate our last minute need to change the dates of our stay, for which we were extremely grateful. Everything in the apartment was as listed, though it’s worth noting that the AC unit is in the living room not the bedroom, a fact that we missed, however a fan is provided. The place was clean and well furnished. We recommend staying here!
