Spectacular Great Smokey Mountains Views

LeeRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Driving up the road to the place was a little different especially at night. But we did get used to it. The nest was beautifully appointed with great decorations that made you feel like you were in a cabin. The place was outstanding, one of the better hosts that I’ve ever had interaction with. A few things that I would add to the property but all in all everything that you really need. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty as I was trying to do some work. Great location in Maggie Valley so close to so many things. If you definitely want to be up in the mountains with outstanding views, this is the place for you. The newly added outdoor fireplace was great to have.

Blue Ridge Lookout Beautiful Modern Cabin

TiffanyRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Beautiful cabin and great location. Our family enjoyed our stay and the cabin had everything we needed. We were delighted to find a lovely Christmas tree in the living room. Nice back porch with mountain views. Comfortable beds. We were able to easily travel to many activities and day trips - Asheville, Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountain National Park, Downtown Waynesville, and just a short drive down the mountain to visit Winchester Creek Farm. We hope to be back!

This was the perfect getaway!! Had a little difficulty finding it, just a little sightseeing tour around the mountain 😃 but all was good once we arrived. Had a wonderful stay. A beautiful cabin with great views, very clean with amenities and is decorated perfectly. We felt right at home. Location was close to everything we were looking for. And the hot tub was spot on perfect for a relaxing evening. We will be back to visit for sure. Thank You so much.

Big House with Big Mtn Views, Golf & Pool Access

MicheleRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We needed a place for our blended family to finally meet and have time together. One of the bedrooms had bunks which became the kids room. They loved it. They also loved the game room, playground and bathing in the heart shaped jacuzzi. The view is amazing, overlooking a pond with the mountains in the background. We had groups playing golf and tennis. It was too cold for the pool but I’m sure the kids would have been there if it was warm. There is a beautiful waterfall closer than I thought. There was plenty of room for everyone to dine and just be together. It is definitely a place we will keep in mind for future gatherings.

Jewel in the Skye

BryanRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
My wife and I wanted to have a little get away for our 6 year anniversary, and we’re so glad we chose Julie’s place. It was super pretty inside and out, it was in a very quiet and relaxing area. Not only that but the view of the mountains and landscape from the sunroom, as well as the patio was absolutely gorgeous. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the tub, and how relaxing it was to soak in it. I loved most how Julie is dog friendly and our furry child loved running around in the dog yard. We are most definitely going to be planning to return again soon. Thank you so much for everything Julie!

Casa Paz: Creekside Oasis in the Smoky Mountains

DavidRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The place is very nice, from the creek to relax in front of or the hot tub to get into:) Our weekend started warm then went colder and the fireplace in the house gets the place warm. The area is quiet. We had two ducks going around feeding and getting ready to nest. An eagle flew through and tried to get the ducks, they dove a couple times and the eagle left to go fishing. The area is mostly free from the damages of Helene. Plenty of birds coming and going all day:)

RIVERFRONT Retreat with HOT TUB on Nantahala River

AleksandraRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We enjoyed our stay 100%! An excellent location, just on the bank of the Nantahala river. A 15-20 min drive to the Blue Ridge Pkwy overlooks, Bryson City. The Fontana Lake Dam is a little longer drive. The terrace, the fireplace and the hot tub are all amazing.

The Cabin Fairy's Castle/Magnificent View/K&Q Beds

ElisabethRating, 5 stars4 months ago
We had a wonderful stay at Eve's cabin and she had it decorated pefectly for the holidays. The large kitchen had everything we needed to cook family size meals for 6. Plenty of room to relax and watch movies in front of the cozy fireplace. Comfortable beds and the views from all parts of the cabin were amazing. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again. Eve was great at communicating, quick to respond, and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed.

Your guide to Franklin

Welcome to Franklin

Becoming the first Appalachian Trail gateway town helped put this North Carolina mountain enclave on travelers’ radar, and nearby waterfalls, abundant forestland, and buried natural treasure — including rubies and sapphires — have kept it there. Outdoors enthusiasts have their choice of activities here, and on any given day can be found hiking the historic Bartram Trail to a lovely waterfall or wandering the nearby Nantahala Forest, beholding scenic mountain vistas, or playing on the Little Tennessee River, which cuts right through town.

Mining began in the county as early as 1870, with minerals being hauled by horse and wagon; rockhounds will appreciate learning this history at the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum and trying their own luck in nearby Cowee Valley. There’s also a walkable downtown featuring a couple more history museums and restaurants, along with shops and galleries featuring Appalachian art and crafts. Baseball games are regularly under way at Parker Meadows, while concerts, plays, and dance shows are staged at the state-of-the-art Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Franklin

Franklin offers four distinct seasons, but its weather is generally classified as marine, humid, and temperate. The warm summers ideal for outdoor adventuring tend to draw more visitors than other times of year. Winters are pretty cold, and there’s a moderate chance of rain for much of the year, but it’s a great time to cozy up in one of the area’s cabins for rent. Events and festivals take place year-round, with the Airing of the Quilts (an outdoor quilt market showcasing Appalachian heritage, along with other market items) and Trail Days (a celebration of hikers) in springtime, the Macon County Gemboree in summer, and Pumpkin Fest in the fall. On weekends from May to October, everybody brings their lawn chairs to Pickin’ on the Square at the town gazebo, and mines are open for gem exploration in spring, summer, and fall.

Top things to do in Franklin

Nantahala National Forest

Welcome to more than 500,000 acres of verdant forest and dramatic mountains that rise as high as 5,800 feet from the floor of the Little Tennessee River valley. Top draws include incredible hiking trails, secluded fishing streams, teeming wildlife, and panoramic views from lookout towers. The Appalachian Trail extends for about 60 miles along a crest within this forest.

River adventures

Two famous rivers, the Nantahala and the Ocoee, run close to Franklin: adrenaline junkies will have an absolute blast rafting, kayaking, or tubing these waters. The Little Tennessee River is also good for canoeing and tubing, and local outfitters can accommodate groups of any size and skill level.
