Vacation rentals with lake access in El Castillo

Kellys place was perfect for our family. The location is close to many of the areas local attractions and the peaceful tranquility of the deck and watching so many species of birds in the yard was incredible! We would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay! It's a nice, clean home with scenic views in an authentic, safe community. We bought a few basics for breakfast (eggs, queso blanco, milk, coffee, juice) at the nearby community mini-market (a few blocks away) so we could make breakfast at the place. If you want fresh fruits & veggies, you should stop at a bigger market on your way (La Fortuna? Or El Castillo?). We ate dinner twice at the nearby La Terraza restaurant, which was good. We loved the batidos de fruta (fruit smoothies/shakes - 'de leche' ('of milk') . My favorite is the batido de papaya (de leche). My kids also tried the strawberry, pineapple, maracuya (and I think others, too!). We enjoyed the dishes we had there, too. Internet at the house can be spotty, but there's some cell reception, too. If you're on vacation and just checking your email from time to time and researching things to do in the area, it's fine; if you're looking to be a digital nomad, this is probably not the place for you.

my family of 5 enjoyed our stay. My inlaws, me, my husband and son all enjoyed the property. It was so relaxing, beautiful and clean and we found it a great base to explore La Fortuna and Arenal area. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting this area.

Villa 2 was an amazing stay for our family of 5. Our 3 young children loved the pool and walking the property looking for birds, lizards, bugs, and the sloth. It was a perfect location to explore La Fortuna on our trip and was a great deal! Would love to return!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Casa Aqua Vida. The property itself is amazing: the house is very well set up, and Marta, the caretaker as well as Bernal, were extremely responsive. They gave us excellent local recommendations in addition to just getting a new blender for us when the one in the house was broken. The highlight for us was the phenomenal backyard and the majestic trees on the property. Every morning we woke up at 5:30am to the sound of birds, howler monkeys, cicadas and other wildlife. We easily spent 2-3 hours out each day enjoying all the birds and animals that just inhabited the surrounding trees. We saw many types of warblers, toucan, howler monkeys, buzzards, horses, bullfrogs, hummingbirds and many types of birds that we couldn’t recognize. All of this was above and beyond what we expected! Overall, we loved our stay! My family feels that this was the best experience we’ve ever had with a rental in our decade of using AirBnB.

The view over the lake arenal is just phenomenal! The house has a huge garden with some fruits, herbs & vegetables wich we were allowed to eat. We can for sure recommend.

Lovely place with a beautiful lake view. The check-in mechanism allow us enter at early morning when we were coming from my sister’s wedding. Highly recommend if you what to spend a peaceful night with the song of the lake/river and births and delicious native food restaurants around the area. Thanks Yinley for this opportunity!!!

Alexandra is an incredible host. We spent 10 dream days at her place. She is available, caring, kind and so on. The accommodation is functional, with jungle views. It's very quiet, perfect for a change of scenery and tranquility. It is essential to have a car because the accommodation is not close to the center and other activities. I would 100% recommend!

This is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The atmosphere is peaceful, incredibly relaxing, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic, and having a chat with Paul was truly a blessing. Thank you, Paul and Carole, for such a wonderful experience. I’ll definitely be visiting again!

Nice and modern apartment, located in a very beautiful section of the valley with great views of Lake Arenal. Tanyia and Rod were also very friendly and provided us with a list of local attractions.

This was one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The interior is beautiful with lots of thoughtful artistic details. Whereever you look, you see art. The accommodation was easy to find, hosts were super responsive and friendly, and the room was private and peaceful. In the morning you can listen to the birdsong and enjoy your morning coffee with view on the volcano, the area feels safe and everything is in walking distance and you can also use the kitchen which you’ll have to yourself. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay to call my home in La Fortuna.

Great place to spend a weekend or some vacation time, with a tiny supermarket nearby which can be reached out by walking. Adrian was very responsive, making the stay even better. I recommend the place and would stay again when going to La Fortuna

This was property matched the description and the pictures well. El Castillo is a more peaceful area than La Fortuna and close enough to feel like you can go back and forth without any issue. The view from the porch hot tub is stunning and makes up for the rustic amenities within the cabin. There was daily construction starting at 6:00am on the house next-door, however, so I probably would not have chosen this property if I had known that before-hand.

Absolutely loved our stay! The property is stunning, with beautifully maintained grounds and breathtaking views of the volcano. Very private - no one else nearby. Our kids couldn’t get enough of the pool and jacuzzi—it was the perfect place to relax. The location is great too, just a quick and easy 15-minute drive into downtown. Kenneth was an exceptional host—super responsive and thoughtful, even leaving fresh coconuts in the fridge for us. We would definitely stay here again!

This place is a very nice house with plenty of space, the pool is very nice and the whole property is beautiful and close to the Fortuna de San Carlos. It has access to a river where a cart enters (some parts only high cart). The owner of the house treated us super well and even got us some things we wanted. I would recommend the place if they like to have a good time as a family.
