An amazing little cottage in the mountains, peaceful, safe and quiet. The small splash pool is wonderful for hot summer days. Natural beauty of the mountains and seeing stars at night has been food for the soul. A place to be and rest. I loved my 3 week stay, and my doggies loved the space too. Ilse been a wonderful, kind and most generous host.

Tania’s place is a gem in Oudtshoorn—easy to find, peaceful, and quiet. Tania is warm, friendly, and communicative. We immediately felt at home in the beautiful cottage and had a very comfortable stay. It was very hot during our visit, but the cottage stayed cool, and we enjoyed splashing in the pool. We will definitely stay here again! :)

We spent two nights at Shepard’s Rest and it was everything we needed and more. Tucked away in the heart of nature, it offered the perfect escape from the chaos of city life. The surroundings were stunning — peaceful, green, and filled with the calming sounds of nature. The accommodation was cozy, clean, and beautifully in tune with its natural setting. We woke up each morning to birdsong and fresh air, feeling completely recharged. Our host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home and sharing helpful local tips. Every moment there felt easy and restful. Honestly, our only regret was not staying longer. Two nights flew by too quickly, and we left already dreaming of our next visit. Shepard’s Place is a true hidden gem — if you’re looking for beauty, peace, and a real break from everyday life, this is it.
