We had an absolutely fantastic stay Jon's place, 5/5 The location was perfect - peaceful, yet close to local restaurants and attractions. My favorite thing was the view of the mountains, which was simply breathtaking! Great spot to relax with my family. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, highly recommend! Thank you Jon for providing such a wonderful space. Alejandro and fam!

Verbena Vista - Mountain View with Hot tub

JoeyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Do not think twice about this cabin rental. The home is absolutely perfect! The kitchen has everything you need (spices, oil, tools, space, keurig, drip, all the things you hope it will have when you show up) The couch is incredibly comfortable. The beds too are amazing. Main bathroom has a very modern shower and toilet. But most of all the deck and the view are worth every penny. We spent most of our time reading and drinking coffee from the chairs on the deck. And it was so peaceful and relaxing. We had a brief issue with a power outage but a) they have a generator that automatically turned on and b) the owner was proactively communicative to let us know and kept tabs that we were okay and when the power went back on. Wish we could have stayed longer. Rent it for a day or two longer because you won’t want to leave. Thank you to Susie and the team who hosted us, we had exactly the trip we needed

Little Red Cottage

Marisa’s house is a beautiful cabin that was worth every penny. It is convenient to Brevard and the Pisgah Forest for the fishing and outdoor enthusiast. Marisa was very accommodating to my group and was prompt to responding to messages. The house was clean and lacked no amenities. The kitchen was well furnished with pots, pans, etc. and linens were plentiful. I would recommend Marisa’s place for anyone hoping to get away and stay in a beautiful part of North Carolina.

Spacious Home w/Rumbling Bald Resort Amenities

LauraRating, 5 stars4 months ago
There really are no words to describe how much we enjoyed our stay. For our family of 6, and our 2 doggies, we were looking for a large space in a beautiful and peaceful setting to enjoy the holidays together. We are all so busy and run in different directions, and we thought this would be a great way to have a captive Christmas for everyone to enjoy time together! We were right! The owner has the house decorated perfectly for Christmas, and the basement level was perfect for our 3 grown boys to play video games and bond together! Grandma enjoyed the large tv with the giant window overlooking the mountain and lake - and mom & dad (us) enjoyed the master bedroom & bath with a balcony overlooking the mountain and lake. It was perfect, like Switzerland, but only 2 hours from home! We have treasured memories of our trip!

Hosts were great at communicating and provided some great recommendations in the binder for the cabin. Cabin had everything we needed to cook all of our meals for our family of seven. Cabin afforded lots of space to spread out and offered some scenic views of the surrounding forests.

Potter's Place Property - House & Cabin!

TaraRating, 5 stars10 months ago
Our extended family of 13 had a peaceful, relaxing, and wonderful stay! The pictures don't do the house/cabin and surrounding property justice. The rope swing, swing, and tire swing were a huge hit with the kids - they were addicted to the rope swing! (Even the teens managed to break away from their tech and play on the creek!) The towels to use for the creek were a nice touch. This location made it really easy to get to Asheville, Black Mountain, and Brevard. It was unanimous that all of us would love to return! It was a much needed retreat and respite for all of us!

Your guide to Chimney Rock

Welcome to Chimney Rock

A little North Carolina mountain town with an Old West vibe and population of just over 100 people, Chimney Rock Village perches by a rushing river in a scenic gorge with views of two towering mountains. Most of the architecture dates from the 1920s and ’30s, and many of the locally owned mom-and-pop businesses have operated here for just as many decades.

The village is surrounded by thousands of acres of verdant forestland, including namesake Chimney Rock State Park and its massive, scalable granite monolith. It’s also sandwiched between the popular and scenic Lake Lure and the Bat Cave, where there’s a giant but inaccessible cave full of bats. Outdoor adventurers often return to the village in the evening to saunter through town sipping craft beer or homemade soda pop, scouting out ice cream stands, and relaxing by the boulder-studded Broad River. For family fun, there’s also a mini-golf course, a small amusement park with carousel rides, and a gem mining operation.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Chimney Rock

On a plateau above Chimney Rock Village is an outdoor amphitheater called the Gathering Place, and during the spring, summer, and fall you can find people there appreciating live music and partaking of various festivals and events — mostly notably the Spring-Go Festival and an outdoor concert series put on by the Symphony of Rutherford County. It’s a treat to catch the flowers blooming in springtime, and in summer the temperatures rise along with the number of visitors. Early November is the most stunning time to stay in a Chimney Rock cabin and behold in the region, as the dramatic color changes in the leaves render the view from atop Chimney Rock absolutely breathtaking. Although temperatures drop in fall and winter, holiday lights are festive in these parts, and fun events include a Tour de Pumpkin cycling event and a Polar Plunge into Lake Lure on New Year’s Day.

Top things to do in Chimney Rock

Chimney Rock Gemstone Mine

With two locations on the bank of the Broad River, this do-it-yourself mining experience allows visitors to try their hand at sifting out gold nuggets, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, garnets, alongside other naturally occurring gemstones. All equipment is provided, and every aspiring miner is guaranteed a find of some sort.

Rocky Broad Riverwalk

Meandering natural walkways give way to stone and wooden bridges by the scenic Broad River, with the footpath occasionally breaking off toward a brewpub, restaurant, or shop. Summertime swimming is common here, as are boulder scampering and picnic lunches.

Chimney Rock State Park

The region’s iconic monolith can be reached with a challenging hike up 500 steps or a ride in a 26-story elevator. Either way, the granite slab’s top rewards visitors with majestic views of Hickory Nut Gorge and its forestland for some 75 miles in any direction. You can also hike to the base of the 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls, which rewards with views of the falls, wildflowers, and a range of birds. Rumbling Bald Trail is another good hike within the state park, and it starts just two miles from the village.
