Vacation rentals with a patio in Chaugan

Munish’s place made me feel at home instantly. He’s the sweetest, always up for conversation and helpful beyond words! I went alone, I didn’t know anything about the locality, he’s been mighty kind in telling me about things to do nearby. He’s helped my long distance friends plan my birthday. He’s super respectful about your privacy as well. He arranged for my airport pickup and drop.. All in all, I had a perfect trip, without any hiccups, thanks to Munish. Definitely going back.

I had a great time at Mitti Ghar. The place is beautiful, well maintained, full of surprises and is situated at a nice and cosy spot. Taha, the host was cooperative and made sure that I had a comfortable stay. Would recommend it to anyone who’s seeking a place to stay in Bir!

A gem of a find nestled on top of a hill in Billing, right next to the paragliding take-off spot. The house is a beautiful stone cottage with a big room and adjoining balcony on the first floor, and a café and outdoor seating area downstairs. The location is remote and peaceful, and requires a trek down a winding path to reach it, which, although beautiful and exciting, can be a little strenuous. The staff were extremely perceptive and helpful, and great cooks too! The washroom, however, is downstairs, but the host warned us about this at the outset, so it was expected. All in all, an amazing option if you are looking to stay in a secluded, beautiful cottage and soak in the atmosphere on the balcony while watching the untouched mountains change colours throughout the day.

Amit is the sweetest host you can imagine. From going out swimming in a local stream to talking over chai, the time spent with him was truly a highlight of my Bir trip. The property is arguably the most peaceful spot in Bir. Everything was as advertised, and in fact the terrace exceeded my expectations. A great spot to work from, watch the dark skies or just soak in the mountain scenery doing nothing. I also used the kitchen extensively, and it is well-equipped. Also many nice cafes nearby. Would highly recommend!

This is not actually an Airbnb, it is a room in the Chokling Arthouse, which is the hotel next to Chokling Monastery. I never did meet Kartik, and when I asked about him, everyone at the guesthouse stared blankly, as if they'd never heard of him. But the hotel is lovely, as is the management, and the room is very spacious and comfortable with spectacular views. I loved my stay here. That said, it is definitely not big enough for three people. This is a suite for two people, even though the hotel will offer you an extra cot at a fee. There is really no where to put it, though, unless one person slept in the sitting area. There is also no kitchen, just a microwave and a few bowls, spoons, etc. There is AC, hot water, and a lovely sitting area. The hotel restaurant has extremely slow service and not many options, but the waiters are extremely friendly. This room opens onto a large public terrace area, which be noisy at night with people doing fire spinning, etc.

Sian’s place is what you always hope an Airbnb will be like, but rarely ever is. Her and Boby were so engaged and helpful, always just a text away and provided the perfect mix of helpfulness and leaving us to our own devices. The homemade bread and jam they made for us when we arrived was such a sweet touch also. The place itself is absolutely beautiful and calm, we spent the short amount of time we had there just looking out at the beautiful fields of grain and the sunset right from the bedroom window. The hut is so beautifully refurbished, it felt so cosy waking up each morning and putting on the Tibetan slippers, making tea and going for walks around the forest and cafe above. Boby organised for us to go to the hot springs, where we bathed in the hot water under the pine trees after the long hike which was absolutely incredible also. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to escape off the beaten track and connect with yourself and nature for a few days (or weeks!!)

Shashi's place i.e. Sukoon Bagh is a beautiful hideout in the otherwise hustling bustling town of Bir. Its around ~3kms from main Bir which makes it extremely peaceful. The overall campus, the sunrise, the cleanliness makes it a place worth staying. Shashi is a great host. The food at Sukoon Bagh is by far the best and the cafe serves indian, continental, tibetian and himachali food!
