Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . This peaceful accommodation offers a relaxing stay for the whole family, with children or friends. The 4-person gîte is in a small Ardèche hamlet in the heart of nature belonging to the same owner with a shared pool. The gîte is close to our farm (Galowé cows, sheep, chestnuts). Very nice and comfortable, fully equipped gîte with a view of the valley. Small “La Lande” river below for the kids to enjoy. Nearby, there are listed villages, and you can go canoeing down the Ardèche...
