my stay in Castel del Monte went very well. Fabrizio was not present when I arrived but he told me everything perfectly beforehand so that my installation in the accommodation went smoothly. What to say about Nadia's house… perhaps the most suitable thing is a return to the past when as children we went to the classic mountain houses with their smells and silences. Nadia's house is a 360º experience, because the house is warm and welcoming, it is quiet and has a spectacular view, especially in the evening over the valley. The fireplace then makes it magical as soon as it is lit. Nadia incredibly anticipates your every possible need and helps you with her availability. But what we think made everything 10 stars were also the incredible people we met. From the gentleman at the market, always kind and helpful, to Loredana at the “Rustica” butcher shop, whose husband brought us to his house giving us wood for the fireplace and embers (of course at home he also offered me a glass of wine) and she who booked the restaurant and whose meat is absolutely worth trying because it's special. In short, I highly recommend it and if we come back, it will obviously be here.

If you want to experience comfortable and modern accommodations in the heart of a crumbling, centuries-old village in one of the less touristed parts of Italy, then this is a perfect location. The apartment is on the lower level, so there is less natural light, but it is clean and full of modern amenities. It is small but easily accommodated two couples. The apartment is a minute or two walk from the local bar. There are not really any shops or restaurants in the village, but a 15 minute walk to the base of the town, down a street lined with tall cypress trees will bring you to the village bakery which also stocks a few other food items. Ofena was significantly damaged in the 2009 earthquake that devastated the nearby city of L’Aquila, so many of the buildings are damaged and a considerable amount of restoration is underway resulting in some areas being closed off and a fair bit of noisy construction when we were there.

It was wonderful to experience the beautiful town of Capestrano. The home was charming, cozy and comfortable and so romantic! Easy drives to Sulmona, L'aquila and Pescara.
