The Rustic Retreat Tiny House is the perfect setting for a family, hunters, fishermen, anniversaries, friends retreats, honeymooners, etc.. Brand new in August 2018, we can sleep up to 6. Located near the beautiful Calamus Lake, the Burwell Rodeo and Historic Fort Hartsuff. Local restaurants and bars are within walking distance as well as a grocery store.
“The Rustic Retreat was a fantastic little getaway to the Sandhills. It is very close to Calamus Reservoir and was a great place to stay. Plenty of parking to accommodate a boat and easy walking distance to the town square. Marcia was a fantastic host and the homemade goodies were delicious!”
The Little House on the Prairie is nestled in the heart of the Nebraska Sandhills. We are a mere ten minutes from the Calamus River and Calamus Lake (west end) which offers tanking, tubing, boating, and beaching. Bootleg Brewers is our neighbor to the south, only a 20 minute drive. This is a birders paradise! Bald eagles, prairie chickens, and a plethora of other species to observe will be waiting out your window. Star-gazers will find our night skies free of light pollution. Nature awaits!
“The little house is a perfect place for a family of four to slow down and unwind. My wife and I enjoyed quiet time for reflecting, and a lot of reading. The cattle were confined to two of the (40 acre?) pastures, so they encouraged us to wander around the sand hills on the other two massive pastures full of wildness, lots of stars, and sky for miles. The kids spent hours chasing grasshoppers and frogs, getting to know Megan's family dog, and finding out new things about ranching in modern America. The kitchen was well-enough appointed that we were able to cook all of our meals for five full nights without any hiccoughs, and the resulting closeness and calm was priceless. We hope to come back very soon.”
Horse Lover's Bunkhouse is a comfortable fun place to stay. You can bring your own horse for trail riding or lease one of ours. We have stalls for overnight travelers with their horses. You don't have to love horses to visit. We also have other attractions in the area like lakes, rivers, historical forts, hunting, fishing, nice restaurants, breweries, museums etc. It is very quiet and peaceful so be prepared to relax and enjoy the sandhills of NE.
“My aunt and I stayed here for one night while doing the Junk Jaunt. It’s close to town and pretty easy to find. It was convenient for our needs which was just needing a safe and clean place to crash for the night which we found here. Very quirky and fun space with lots of horse decor and pictures of the host with her horses. The place looks like it would be well accommodating for people with horses. We didn’t have any nor did we lease any of the horses but the listing has it as an option.”
