Gem River Edge Eco rustic room & Yala safari

SarahRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Had a very good stay at Gem River Edge! It’s an authentic peaceful stay in nature. All of Muna’s creations are very thoughtful (food, space, light, decoration). I’m keeping in mind this place for another stay if I’m lucky enough to travel in Sri Lanka again! Thank you for sharing 🍃

Banyan Camp- Wine Lodge

ConorRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We had a fantastic stay at Banyan Camp. Came highly recommended by friends who had stayed recently and it managed to exceed our expectations. One of the most peaceful and relaxing places I've ever visited. The whole camp is really well curated, we loved all the local antiques the owner has collected. All the traditional food was great, super healthy and was really fun to have the reasons why the various dishes are eaten together explained! We had a great time with the other guests around the dinner table too! Our dinner on the first night was floating on a raft in the lake under the stars which was a magical experience. Only regret is we didn't stay longer!

Banyan Camp

We really enjoyed our stay in Banyan camp. The whole place is naturally blended into the nature with many animals around ❤️The host is helpful but also not too intense - really chill guy. The lake is gorgeous and food also super local and host gives more details about each dish. We would really recommend going there for everyone who loves nature 🦎🐒 🐘🐿️🛖

Stay Chill

AndreannaRating, 5 stars3 days ago
As soon as we arrived felt relaxed which is what you want from a stay. The comfy bed and hot shower was welcomed and due to the shower being slightly sunken in the bathroom it drained better than most. Also had enough room to do a yoga session when we got settled in. We went to Thranga restaurant which did a lovely chicken curry and when asking what time he opened, he opened at 10, we said we had to get away early so he came in special for us to order a breakfast take away. We didn’t do the safari however the host is very accommodating if you did want to, he also offers to take you on a local tour if you weren’t driving there. As we were only there for a night we went and saw the bats by the lake (the host tells you where to go) we drove there in about 10 mins. Be aware there is a lot of tour guides down there offering to go and see owls and crocodiles and charges for each sighting of each animal. In the morning we headed to the ‘sunset spot on google maps’ to see sunrise.

Mercedes Lodge

Had a really enjoyable stay at Banyan Camp. Located right beside a beautiful lake, expect rustic but quirky accommodation, a friendly, relaxed and communal vibe, delicious and healthy home cooked Sri Lankan food. I felt right at home immediately and the space created is a wonderful place to relax and meet other lovely people. Warm hospitality from Jaz and the team, always helpful and responsive. Paddle boarding on the lake was a highlight. Unique place, would definitely love to revisit. Highly recommended.

Green House Yala

MariusRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Santha arranged for us a safari which was a great experience and we've got lucky enough to see a leopard. Beside the small inconvenient everything was all right.
An open walkway is framed by wooden railings, leading to tropical greenery and the beach beyond. Brightly lit rooms can be seen through large windows, while palms sway under a clear blue sky, creating a tranquil connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Turtle Bay Boutique Hotel 4****S - Apartment

We had a great stay at Turtle Bay! The room was quite spacious and clean. The location was incredible overlooking Kalametiya Beach. The staff was so kind and service was great! They even set up our table by the pool for dinner on our last night. It was very romantic. Be sure to get a massage on the roof deck. We booked several services during our stay and loved it.

Sunshine Guest House

VishnuRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Awesome stay at Sunshine, The owner Janaka is great person who takes his hospitality very seriously and shared his life experiences with us. The place was well maintained and arranged Yala Safari for us. He offered us tea n coffee all the time. There is a shared kitchen as well, but for food , one would have to walk to the Kataragama town which is 1km away. Our ride to Ella was also arranged by Janaka
