Silk Tree is an amazing place to stay. Extremely relaxing and beautiful accommodation. There is also so many free things to do in nearby area such as Marokopa Falls which are amazing. Make sure to stay at least 2 to 3 nights as you need at this time to see everything the area has to offer. Sandra and her two darling dogs are amazing host and add so much to the experience. Highly recommend

Ngā mihi nui!! Such a beautiful, clean, tidy, gorgeous space with a cosy fireplace that is simple to light, warm beds and perfect water pressure in the shower - exactly what the dr ordered for all 3 of us, and the four legged one with a well fenced-in section... Super close to the beach and a back gate that leads down to the awa with a short walk to the glorious Butter cave and 'flowerpots'.. Easy communication with hosts, and we truly appreciated the early/late check-in/check-out negotiations.. Friendly locals, who meet in the carpark at the top of the driveway on the daily, are keen to share fishing tips etc, and this homely little bach is very close to the best butchery and to the Awakino pub which served us up some deliciously fresh seafood - it was seriously hard to leave Mokau!!

Out of all the places I have travelled in the world, this beautiful farm stay is matched only by a private mountainside Onsen that I experienced in Japan. Short drive to the beach and extraordinary scenery, wonderful local towns with exceptional food. If you are in New Zealand make sure you always get beef, even the cheapest steaks absolutely dwarf what we have in Australia. Immediately upon entering the home there is a great feeling of warmth and peace that washes over you. The walls are very thick and with all the windows closed there is a serene silence. Waking up each morning to the deepest blue sky, the gentle humming of bees in the flower garden, the lack of any city noises or troubles. Generations of hard work have kept this property in such magical condition, it shows in the land and in the animals. I feel very lucky to experience such a place, and I can not thank Maxine and her family enough for providing the perfect holiday getaway. 11/10
