Alpstein Hostel: Perfect for groups & families

My fiancé and I booked Johannes’ beautiful home to celebrate our Switzerland elopement with our closest friends. Everyone loved how charming the home was and how beautiful the surrounding was. There were lots of cooking tools for us to use. The only real issue was the ceiling above the second flight of stairs…taller people had a difficult time not hitting their head. Other than that, it was a great space to spend time with amazing people.

We stayed at this wonderful place for the 2nd time and enjoyed the 5 days very much. Here we feel very much at home and everything you need is available. The place is very clean, quietly located, cozily furnished, everything is available and Marlis is a super host! What more could you ask for? I'm sure we'll be back! Being able to experience the old New Year's Eve (Chlausen) in Urnäsch was an absolute highlight and very impressive. You can also do great, beautiful hikes in the area. We had a wonderful time at this place in Appenzell! If you are looking for peace, seclusion and nature, this is the case. The location is fantastic with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The accommodation itself is well equipped, we didn't miss anything. Everything is furnished with a lot of love for detail and very well maintained. We felt comfortable from the first moment.

There were two of us in the beautiful part of Wendy and Sven's house. Wendy welcomed us and showed us the charming apartment in her Appenzell house. In the spacious kitchen we were able to cater perfectly, the fridge is large and there is plenty of dishes available. Great that there is also a dishwasher! Tabs, detergent, sponge, enough kitchen towels, everything available. Also plenty of towels and toilet paper. We didn't miss anything. We took beautiful hikes and had good food in neighboring Heiden. We also visited the Henry Dunant Museum in Heiden - very interesting! In the cozy living room, we were able to relax well and review our experiences. The ceilings and door frames are low because it is an old, very pretty, renovated Appenzell house, you have to be a little careful. We're looking forward to our next visit with Wendy and Sven!

We felt very comfortable. The hosts were super nice and helped us with all our questions. Communication was mega uncomplicated and very pleasant. The kitchen has everything you need. The only downside: The ceiling height in the living room and kitchen are very low. Not for tall people, unless you have nothing against walking in these rooms or bumping your head;) We found it cozy :)

I was in the house with my parents and sister with 2 children. Everyone felt very comfortable from the start. The house is great and decorated with a lot of love. Nothing is missing. The house is very suitable for children, it has a lot of toys, 2 cribs, baby monitor, etc.

This place is truly wonderful. Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The house is well equipped with everything you need for a holiday stay. Very clean with modern amenities where needed. Beautiful decorations of historic pieces and local furnishings. Less than 10 minutes to downtown Appenzell and short drive to St.Gallen. The host is also great to work with. She is very kind, responsive and helpful. Highly recommend for a peaceful and convenient stay!

We really enjoyed staying at the Lahr vacation home. The house was large enough for our family (2 adults, 3 children) and there was plenty of space for the children to play. Waldstatt is excellently located for great excursions in Appenzell and in the nearby area. Very straightforward communication with Matthias and easy check-in and check-out.

We've spent 5 nights in Nicole's house with our friends, 4 couples alltogether. It is a huge house, there are rooms everywhere. It reminded us the house from "Home Alone" :) We really liked it. Though the guests must clean the house before they leave - everything was clean, nice and comfortable. The kitchen had a lot of accessories which we appreciated a lot as we love to cook. They have everything you would need for a great vacation, we especially liked the premium furniture, grill and cooking equipment and the large fridge. You can also find gorgeous surrounding, fields, forests, ruins and obviously cows and goats around the house. Ideal to have some new animal friends :) The only strange thing was that the house seems to be Nicole's family home which they rent out for the summer so they have their stuff in the cabinets, images on the wall. If you are used to stay in apartments, it can be unusual for the first time. Anyway, it was a great experience, thanks Nicole for having us!

This is our second stay and once again we had a wonderful time in Appenzell. The house is beautiful, spacious and exactly as described with lovely hot showers after a cold hike. The location is great, central Appenzell easy walk to the train. The hosts are helpful and responsive. Look forward to coming back next year!

Our holidays in Anita's Airbnb were beautiful! I've never lived in such a clean space. You can tell that Anita leads this place with a lot of heart, because we lacked nothing. She was very accessible and very attentive - we immediately felt very welcome. Anita just thought of everything: There were ice cubes in the freezer, there were hygiene and toiletries in case you forgot to pack something, more than enough towels and bath towels, games, sun loungers and ping pong table you could use, lots of flyers about offers and activities in the area, just great! Place just as beautiful as the photos (even nicer). Outdoor area also beautiful. Had cozy barbecues with fantastic views. Nature where you look, but still neighbors nearby, you don't feel quite alone. Parking is available right in front of the house and plenty of peace and quiet. Thank you Anita for the magical stay. Keep it up, we love it!
