Mountain Momma Homestead Cottage

A quaint studio guest house located in one of the many hollers of West Virginia. Less than 1 mile from I64, the house is roughly 300 sq. feet, centrally located between Charleston, New River Gorge, and Huntington. This guest house is equip with an outdoor space that includes a firepit and grill. It is located close to the main living quarters, but it is disconnected. Our place is located in the nice and quiet neighborhood of Marlaign Addition just on the outskirts of the city of St. Albans. Situated just 3 minutes off of Interstate 64. This convenient location is 7-15 miles from the Mardi-Gras Casino and Resort, Teays Valley Hospital, Thomas Memorial Hospital, Shawnee Sports Complex, the Coal and Kanawha rivers, John Amos power plant, Clay Center, Power Baseball field and downtown Charleston. We are within short driving distance to: Marshall University, Cabell Huntington Hospital or St. Mary's, the Huntington Mall The place is small, quaint and cozy, offers a full kitchen, comfy bed, we live close to a highway so there is some traffic and our driveway is at a incline we are in a protected area which is near the city and on a bus line. It was our first time in Charleston, and this space was the perfect home base for all of our adventures. Unfortunately, there are times when you arrive at a place and the pictures and/or description don't quite match up to what you experience, but not Austin's home! What you see in the beautiful pictures is exactly what you get and honestly - maybe even then some. The spaces were spotless, loads of little extra touches that help you to feel at home, right down to a water hose in the backyard which came in super handy after some of our muddy adventures. We did quite a bit of cooking at the house, and found that the kitchen had everything that we needed right down to awesome grill tools.

William had a great place for a deal on the price, plenty to do in the local hour if you don’t mind driving. There is a flight of stairs to climb to access the living space but it’s not a hard climb. Overall a great stay thank you William!

I rented this space for my bridal party to stay in and get ready for my wedding in (we are old souls who didn’t do much more than chat and rest). We all loved how lovely the space was and how cozy it felt! There was enough room for all to get ready and rest comfortably, and it made for lovely getting ready photos. There is a lovely porch space and lots of sitting room in the living room. We also loved and utilized the kitchen! Thank you!!

10/10 stay at Tyler's cabin. We needed a small getaway to catch up on laundry & do some computer work without our homes distractions & animals. Couldn't have asked for a better getaway. ☺️ Very easy to find, maybe 15 minutes away from food, and excellent for relaxing in nature with no noises! In 2 days maybe 3 cars drove by lol, very peaceful! Thank you again for a truly perfect stay.

this was our THIRD visit to Tackett's Hideaway! Tackett's has became our home away from home. we have visited other places but always end up back at the container! we spent hours fishing. we caught several fish. if you love to relax and fish this is the best place to do it. the fire pit was awesome to use in the evenings. there is also a John boat to take out if you want. the hot tub is always great at the end of the day to look at the stars! just pack your bags and go! they have everything ready for you! from dishes,wood for fire pit,boat,and games! we leave a new game for the next guest Everytime we go in hopes it will help bring some laughs to someone enjoying our favorite place!
