Swona

AlanRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful view of the beach and surrounding area. We got lucky and saw the northern lights! The place was super cozy. Loved the extra effort the hosts put in to make sure we had everything we needed, which included a dog bed, doggy treats and board games. The Christmas tree and bottle of Prosecco were a much appreciated bonus. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends.

New: Cantick Head Lighthouse Cottage

AnnaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This is a really unique stay and I spent a good part of my time there looking out at sea wondering when I would next be able to come back. So that should tell you how much I liked it! It’s at a lighthouse, so as you would expect, it’s at the end of a long road (which is very bumpy in places!). Then you get to the cosy house, with a wood fire, and well stocked kitchen with welcome treats. Alan is very friendly as are the dogs and the chickens! My child loved feeding them every morning. The fresh farm eggs were such a treat. Cantick Head itself is stunning and we loved being in the hot tub and sauna. Note to other guests- all these are wood powered so stock up on firewood before you arrive (you can buy bags at the shop next to the Lyness ferry). My mum took one of the bikes out and we all enjoyed walking the coastline. This is a special stay, don’t hesitate to book!

4 Bed in Wick (91390)

NathalieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Every year we pick a new location in Scotland to celebrate my brother's birthday, and this one was one of our favorites so far. The host left many nice touches around the house, including a bottle of Prosecco, as well as some treats for our dog. The location was perfect for us (30 minutes from the Orkney ferry, walking distance from town center, and near some beautiful locations for short walks). Would definitely book this place again.

Old Hall Cottage, Island of Hoy, Orkney

RachelRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Old hall is in a fabulous location with beautiful walks and a lovely, swimmable beach accessible from the door. the house is comfortable, fully equipped, scrupulously clean and Sandra is a very responsive host ☺️ we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. top tip: we did need to use our eye masks as the room is quite light with the early sun.

Arts and Crafts Highland Cottage with Sea Views

LeahRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The time at the cottage was incredibly beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed every second there. Peter was incredibly helpful, super nice and had great recommendations for our time in the cottage. The cottage was totally beautifully decorated, cozy and everything was thoughtful. From the hot water bottle, to the firewood, good equipment in the kitchen... We were really happy and already miss life there! We would come back any time and fell a little more in love with Scotland!

Drumdry Cottage, on NC500 with bike storage!

StephenRating, 5 stars9 months ago
What an absolute dream of a place to stay. Recently fully renovated and it is simply stunning. Minutes from the center of Wick and just off the NC 500, Drumdry was an ideal base for exploring the far northeastern corner of Scotland. The cottage was situated among beautiful farm fields and our son loved saying hi every morning to the sheep outside. And I can’t say enough how wonderful the owner is. She not only was so friendly and welcoming when we arrived, she also thoughtfully brought us a bunch of toys for our son to play with and feel more at home. I literally don’t think you could ask for a better host. Indeed our whole experience at Drumdry was so lovely it has reset the bar for what a 5 star stay is. I couldn’t recommend a stay here highly enough!

Fabulous cottage a short walk from a pristine beach . Everything was spotlessly clean at the cottage, lovely garden which suited the dogs. The cottage has everything you would need, and the wonderful weather meant we could use the garden furniture and pizza oven.

JaneRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a beautiful location. So peaceful and right next to stunning blue sea and an inquisitive seal. The house is very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It's got great walks from the door . It isn't far to the shop and is right next to the moving Longhope lifeboat museum.

We had a great stay in Ivy Wing. We were quite surprised by the amount of space we had in this wing of a beautiful historical building. The place feels really authentic. We got some great tips from the owner on things to do in the area. Would recommend this to everyone!

Great place to stay and amazing views over the cliffs. Interesting surroundings which Carol told us about. Very comfortable. Peaceful surroundings. Only minor negative is that it is at the far end of the island. Carol was very welcoming and interesting to chat to.

Valhalla Brae

AbbeyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Lovely homely house at the edge of the village. NC500 literally outside the window. Dog proof garden area and outdoor hose a bonus. Lots of helpful amenities and kitchen essentials included and a wonderful welcome basket for us and the dog. Good wifi and plenty hot water. The view from the upstairs living room is absolutely incredible, we could have gazed out for hours. The Village Inn is dog friendly in the bar and good food, and just a 30 seconds walk from the house. Easy to walk to the beach and village green also. Only 10 minutes to a big Tesco to stock up! Great communication from local host who was lovely and helpful. Our only negative was difficulty communicating with Cottagescom before our trip - no response to several messages via Airbnb and their telephone line is unmanned and directs back to Airbnb messages. I would book via a different method in the future. Overall a wonderful trip!
