This island is truly paradise on earth. The accommodation is not a luxury resort - it’s basic but clean and very cosy. Our hosts were so lovely and welcoming and we had some of the best day of our lives. We had the beautiful beaches to our selves where we collected young coconuts to drink. We can highly recommend this place to all adventures out there.

We had such a great time in Nora’s beautiful place. Everything was super clean, the garden and the view into the bay are amazing. The apartment has everything you need. Nora and her partner Chris helped us a lot with everything, we chatted a lot and had a great time. It’s the perfect stay for a trip to Vava‘u.

This is a beautiful location with basic but comfortable accommodation. The stand out for us were the managers who live on site. Jennifer and Lona and their children are the most helpful and friendly people you could meet. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help us get around Vavaú. The snorkeling in the lagoon is fantastic compared to what we found when we went to Tonga tapu.

Fabulous place to get away from it all. Just far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to pop in whenever you needed a bite or to do some shopping. Only rare boat traffic in the water near the fales, but never near enough or loud enough to even notice unless you you're looking for it. Great people in the village if you're looking to get a little Tongan experience. The vanilla being dried is always a nice plus coming and going to the fales. Such an amazing smell. Great caretakers while we were there. Chris and Angela and their youngin', Trace. There when you needed something or wanted to swap stories. Otherwise, they let you do whatever you needed to unwind.

If our rating could give more than 5 stars then they deserve it. My partner and I had the most amazing stay with this beautiful family. They were kind, generous and fantastic to be around. Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Tonga. Due to overbooking on our return flight to Nukulofa, we were at risk of missing our international flight. Despite having left the accommodation a few days prior, this family did everything in their power to ensure that we would get back to the main island. Not only did they manage to get us on an extra domestic flight the same day, but they helped us feel safe, heard and looked after in a stressful time. If you are travelling to Vava’u and need accommodation, choose here.

Thank so much for our stay! the location was beautiful and even had good snorkelling right in front of our room, I saw a turtle which was amazing. The private beach and relaxing area is perfect. such a peaceful stunning location on Vava'u, truely enjoyed our stay and view!

We loved our stay at Lucky’s. We had just come from Neiafu where we’d been for a few days and this was such a lovely change of pace. Totally remote, right on the beach, cute wee house - so peaceful. Kurt was really helpful and friendly throughout our stay (and in advance) as well, and helped us book our taxi to Lucky’s and then to the airport at the end of the stay. As mentioned in the listing there is no WiFi, and we also missed the note about digicel reception being bad so we had almost no service while we were there. That was fine with us but just something to note. Bring insect repellent too as, being right on the water, there are mosquitos around.

Great location and amazing views! Room was neat, clean and comfy. Katherine and Ana were hosting me during my stay and offered assistance where needed and were just overall lovely. The place is a 5–10 minute walk into town with the loveliest views.

Large room with 2 large beds. Unbelievable view from balcony - we spent most of our time outside on it. From what we could ascertain, this was the best and nicest place to stay in Neifu, which is near the airport and town with groceries and many nice dining options. We had full run of the house and used the kitchen to make breakfast on Sunday, when everything shuts down. Very gracious hosts, who helped us with our transportation to and from the airport. Sal was present during our stay and helped us with getting groceries and locating an ATM. I would definitely stay there again!

Absolutely loved our stay here would definitely come back. Sal and Shelley have created a lovely guest house with friendly staff in a beautifully situated location close to town but not in the heart of it. Private wharf was also pleasant for our young kids to enjoy. Sal was always very respectful and responsive and we greatly appreciate his help. Malo aupito ofa atu

The Mystic Sands is the best accommodations in Vava’u. Kjell and the team work very hard to create a lovely experience. There location is about a 15 minute drive into town, thus stock up on groceries prior to arriving. A driver is available to take you to town for a fair fee.

Absolutely spectacular. If you're looking for a 5 star resort, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a quiet beach on one of the most beautiful islands in the world at an affordable price, this is it. Kurt and Lynn were amazing hosts and they have really created a unique space. The local food, culture and people are amazing. This is an off the beaten path type of place and a unique experience that you'll never forget.

Janice’s place was absolutely wonderful! We only wish we had stayed longer. The house: The house sits on a bit of a hill and overlooks Koko bay which is just beautiful. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived with plenty of bath towels and all the cooking utensils one would need in the kitchen. There is also great snorkeling right off the dock which was so much fun! Make sure to bring your own beach towels and be aware that the steps into the water can be a bit slippery so be cautious getting in. It is also nice that the house is tucked in a bay so you are protected from the wind. Getting around: Janice arranged for a driver to pick us up (Mele) when we arrived who was just wonderful. Mele was waiting for us at the airport, took us to an ATM in town to pull out local currency and then onto the store to pick up grocery’s before heading to the house. Mele gave us her phone number so we could call her anytime for a ride which was wonderful and we used frequently. She was always on time and always happy to give us a ride anytime we needed one. The house is about a 30 min walk from town (5-10 min car ride). It costs about 10 TOP each way. If you want to do your own exploring I would highly recommend a rental car which Janice or Julie,the house manager can help you arrange. We would walk into town during the day but would typically get a ride home in the evening as it’s not recommended to walk at night. It’s perfectly save but their isn’t a designated walking area so it can be a bit dangerous in the dark. There is also a great place called Harbor View hotel just up the road. While they mainly focus on their group staying with them at that time, they do serve a great breakfast and lunch from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm. The owner, Bill and staff were incredibly friendly and were happy to open up their restaurant to us which was so nice. We had such a great time and the pancakes were delicious! I cannot recommend this place enough. Like I said, we only wish we had stayed longer.
