Vacation rentals with a patio in Ueno

Staying at this hidden gem was an absolute treat. Pati, our wonderful host, made our first trip to Japan unforgettable by offering amazing recommendations for food, shopping, and travel. After much research on where to stay, discovering Koenji and Pati's place felt like finding gold at the end of the rainbow. The location was perfect for us, as we love to walk—stations were easily accessible by foot, and the Koenji shops were just a short stroll away. The space itself was perfect—spacious, full of natural light, with a lovely little balcony. The large dining table and open layout made it feel like a true home away from home. We stayed for 8 nights and it was ideal for a longer stay. Despite the cold weather and snow on the first night, the heating kept us warm and cozy. Hot tip: definitely rent a bike to explore Koenji and Tokyo—it’s a fantastic way to get around. Thank you again, Pati, for your kindness and hospitality. We can’t wait to return to our new favorite place in Tokyo! :)

Helen and Sozo were great hosts. They checked on us and made all instructions clear. The apartment is clean and quiet. It worked well for our family of 4, 6 might be tight unless you have small children. The location is in a cute neighborhood and was nice to come back to after a busy day in the city. 7-11 and restaurants all close by. Easy walk to JR line or subway. So glad we stayed here!

Excelente departamento, moderno, con todas las comodidades. Es realmente pequeño y nosotros fuimos dos personas. Creo que mas personas que eso sería muy incomodo. Esta a 3-5 min de la estación de metro, lo que permite conectarse con cualquier lugar sin problemas. Los lugares tipicos y famosos a visitar en tokio quedan en promedio a 30-40 min en trayecto. Ojo, que la entrada por la que llegas (A3) tiene escaleras mecanicas que suben, lo que es util cuando llegas pero no cuando te vas, hay que ir a una entrada (A6) mas lejana con ascensor. Hay un 7eleven y un supermercado (Life) mas grande a 1 cuadra. En general fue muy bueno, y nos sentimos comodos toda nuestra estadía. Gracias por recibirnos.

Our stay in Rokyo was amazing. The communication, and detailed information really helped my family since it was our first time in Japan. I highly recommend staying at this place. We will be back!!

The airbnb is very near to the station. The host even waited for us in the train station to help with the luggages. She was very friendly and recommended a lot of restaurants nearby that we can try. The neighborhood is very peaceful and it felt relaxing after a long day of touring around the city. The room is very spacious and enough for 4 people to freely move around. It is very clean, air condition is cold and there are towels provided. The towels could also be washed and changed upon request. On top of that, the host responds quickly and also sends us daily updates of weather forecasts. Since rain was forecasted during our stay, there were also a lot of umbrellas ready on the first floor. Overall, this is one of the nicest airbnbs we have stayed at. I recommend this place a lot and will definitely book this room again whenever we come back to Tokyo in the future!

A lovely apartment , plenty of room , stunning views from the roof top , spent evenings looking across the roof tops , taking in the stunning views especially of Sky Tree, 3 stations within 10-15 minute walk , lots of bars and restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk , all local tourist hotspots within east travelling. Train line nearby but you soon get used to it so it’s not an issue. Thank you for letting us stay.

Perfect for a big family, walkable to many areas and transportation, clean and well equipped

We stayed as a group of 8. The living area was small, as expected, but adequate size for our group. The neighbourhood was quiet, with convenience stores and a good supermarket close by. The location was good, with multiple subway stations within easy walking distance. The house was extremely clean, and the host was friendly and responsive. As a bonus, the Torikoe Matsuri festival took place the surrounding streets during our stay (early June).

Kyoko's place was perfect for our large family. We had our four adult boys with us, and there was plenty of space for everyone in this newer unit. The kitchen and laundry machines were essential for our longer stay. The location is more of a local neighborhood, which we preferred. Easy access to Shinjuku and Shibuya, but the nearby neighborhoods and access to Shimokitazawa was really nice as an alternative to the overpopulated areas. Kyoko had great local recommendations and we felt at home in the markets, izakayas and ramen shops nearby. Thank you so much!

我们一家四口在这里住了八晚，房东夫妇亲自欢迎我们入住，给我们带来了礼物，为我们详细介绍了房内电器、设施的使用方法和注意事项，并且非常贴心地为我们同行的婴儿准备了婴儿纸巾、沐浴露、玩具等婴儿用品，二楼厨房的冰箱装满了水、饮料、酸奶等食品供我们免费使用。房屋保养得非常干净，通往二楼和三楼的台阶、厨房、房间打扫得一尘不染、无可挑剔。住所周边环境非常安静，居住氛围浓厚，与东京闹市区的人满为患形成鲜明对比，步行范围内有便利店、快餐店、餐厅、大型超市等各类餐饮设施。二楼的客厅厨房起居室为我们一家人提供了便利的生活空间，早上我们会在厨房一起吃早餐，吃完后开启一天的旅程，晚上返回住所后在客厅休息聊天。房东响应非常迅速，总能快速回复消息，更重要的是，她及时热心地帮助我们收集处理旅行期间的厨余垃圾和生活垃圾，去过日本的游客都知道这有多么重要！通往二楼和三楼的楼梯狭长陡峭（没办法，日本独栋建筑的通病），对于需要搬运大件行李上楼和腿脚不便的老年人来说会有点困难，但是楼梯加装了扶手确保上下台阶的安全。如果你想避开东京闹市区的人山人海，这里是非常适合一家人居住的选择。

Staying at Ro's place exceeded my expectations in so many ways. We are a group of 5 (1 adult and 4 seniors) and we find the place comfortable to stay in. The house is about 6 mins walk from Oyama station, 3 stations aways from Ikebukuro, which is accessible to many trains and subways that can take you to different places inside and outside of Tokyo. The house is located near a covered shopping street called Ohyama happy road where many groceries, local stores, and restaurants are located. We felt like a local living in this area. The house is pristine clean, basic necessities were provided, and beds are comfortable to sleep in. The house is exactly what is shown in the listing. The place is easy to locate and they also gave us detailed instructions on how to find the place which we appreciated. Ro and her team responded to my inquries promptly and made sure we had a warm and memorable stay. This is truly a gem in Itabashi. Thank you Ro and JH for hosting us and we will surely be back.

We initially were concerned we might be far away from the things we wanted to do while visiting Tokyo, but were surprised to fall in love with the little neighborhood where this home is located. While the home doesn't have a ton of lounging space, it was practical for what we needed - a comfortable place to lay our heads after full days of exploring.

Très bel appartement, un peu loin du métro mais facile d’accès. L’ascenseur dans la résidence est un vrai plus car voyageant avec une poussette c’est vraiment pratique. J’ai eu du mal à trouver l’airbnb et l’hôte a fait en sorte que je le trouve facilement. Petit présent à la fin du séjour délivré par l’hôte ce qui rend l’expérience encore plus appréciable. Je recommande sans hésiter !

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zentral mitten im Herzen von Shinjuku. Im Radius von 5 Gehminuten findet man mehrere Supermärkte und Restaurants. Der Hauptbahnhof von Shinjuku liegt 20 Gehminuten entfernt. Für europäische Verhältnisse wirkt die Wohnung gerade so ausreichend für 2 Personen und ich würde sie nur für 2-3 Tage in Betracht ziehen. Der größte Vorteil ist die Flexibilität der Lage und der schöne Ausblick vom Balkon. Man bekommt eine reale japanische Wohnerfahrung mitten in Tokyo. Der Gastgeber hat alles Nötige für die ersten Tage bereitgestellt (inkl. Snacks, Kaffee und Saft!) und war immer sofort erreichbar. Wir haben zufrieden ausgecheckt und würden die Unterkunft als erstes Ankunftsziel weiterempfehlen!

The stay was lovely and so clean! Very nice and quiet area, not too far from Shibuya. We arrived late into Tokyo and I booked it at the airport last minute - the instant book and self check in was so easy. Hong was so helpful and friendly and the response time was so fast!

The host was incredibly kind and responsive — when we realized the place wasn’t the right fit for our family, they graciously allowed us to shorten our stay without any issues. The unit was clean, spacious for Tokyo standards, and very close to Shinjuku Station, which made getting around easy. That said, the building and surrounding area weren’t quite what we expected. It’s near the red-light district, which may not bother everyone, but it didn’t feel right for us. The building is older, with worn common areas. We saw puddles in the hallway — possibly from the weather — and generators nearby added some noise. The elevator also showed its age. With a young child who has sensory needs, it felt a bit overstimulating — not because of the host, but due to the building and neighborhood. If you’re okay with a grittier, urban, high-adult traffic area and want access to Shinjuku nightlife and trains, it could work well.

Great spacious apartment in the kabukicho area. Very clean with everything we needed - air conditioning in all rooms. The apartment is on a quiet street just a block back from a more lively red light area. This is a fascinating area of Tokyo - it is seedy at night but not unsafe. It’s close to family friendly areas of Shinjuku. Would stay here again!
