Bedroom is outfitted with AC; ceiling fan, water dispenser (hot & cold); small fridge; safety box; tea/coffee tray; TV w HDMI cable to plug in your laptop, desk to work from if needed, 3 intl sockets, built in robe with lots of storage. There is a private large bathroom, featuring freestanding stone bath & small garden, wide door to accommodate wheelchairs, handrail next to the toilet and a second shower attachment for people who need to shower sitting down. All bedroom and bathroom doors can be locked. Both the Katak suite and the Capung Suites are 60 sq/m. In the common area you will find a large kitchen, a huge living room and a dining room overlooking the swimming pool and the cabana. The living area also has a powder room next to the office which has a wide door and hand rail to assist people with a disability. There is an 11m day bed and an undercover outdoor sitting area to escape the sun if needed. The day bed also features 2 wood consoles with International sockets + 3 USB plugs so you can charge your laptop or phone beside the pool if required. Fresh fruit, fresh bread (if requested) and coffee will be available in the kitchen every morning. You can cook your own meals in the main kitchen if you so desire. We can arrange a cook to come in to cater for your needs, or food can be ordered from a number of local warungs (restaurants) and delivered to the villa. Information about the various warungs will be provided, along with menus and contact details. The Pool: The large infinity pool (4.5 x12m in size + 1.6m depth both ends) is spectacular with ledges and steps at each end and a raised ledge which allows you enjoy the view of the valley below. The pool is made from stone tiles to blend in to the natural environment and is treated with chlorine. There is an outdoor shower near the pool if you want to rinse off after a swim. Please note that there is no pool fence so it is not safe for children under the age of 10. Wi-Fi: We provide high speed fiber optic WIFI throughout the entire villa (current speed >up to 50Mbps D/L & 15Mbps U/L). Security and Parking: Villa Merdu is completely enclosed and secure via a gated private parking area, large enough for a number of scooters and two vehicles. * NB: when a driver delivers you to Villa Merdu, please ask them to drive ALL THE WAY DOWN to the parking area thru the metal/wooden gates, as there is plenty of room to turn around (make a 3 point turn) & drive back out again* All guests have full access to the villa, including cable TV in living room; stereo amplifier & speakers in the cabana; and the kitchen, which is equipped with cutlery, plates, pots, pans, a rice cooker, blender, industrial gas oven/gas cook top, hot/cold water cooler, sandwich press, toaster & a microwave etc etc. PLEASE NOTE: If you are renting this room, the villa has 3 rooms, so the facilities are shared. ie: the pool, the living, dining & kitchen areas, day bed etc, with the other 2 rooms IF there are guests booked in to them. *OFFICE STAFF will generally be onsite between the hours of 9am & 11am to help with any problems, concerns or planning of tours or needs etc* Villa Merdu is located in Junjungan, north of Ubud, minutes drive from the Ubud Palace. You are closer to Tegallalang Rice Terraces, and Tirta Empul water temple, by being on the north side. The villa faces east, & benefits from a cool breeze coming across the valley up to the villa. The temps at the villa is 5-6 deg cooler than by the ocean.
 Security and Parking: The villa is completely enclosed and secure via an 80 sq/m gated private parking area From the villa it is 5 minute drive to the central of Ubud. We can book a taxi or a local driver whenever you need one – to either go into Ubud or take a day trip somewhere on the island. You also can rent a scooter or a car, which we can help you to arrange. **However, please note ** if you ride scooters, ensure you have travel insurance and if you don’t have a scooter/motorbike licence in your home country and an international driver’s licence, your policy may not cover you in the case of an accident. If driving a car, having an international licence is essential and travel insurance is highly recommended. For the more adventurous.... There are many alternate activities for the adventurers, such as downhill cycling, white water rafting, bird sanctuaries, sunrise trekking, diving and snorkelling. Villa Merdu has a list of these activities, and how and where you can book. If just sightseeing in an air conditioned vehicle is your cup of tea, then you can hire a driver by the day, who will take you around beautiful Bali in comfort. Sometimes it is also good to have a local driver who will share local history and culture with you. Or, if you prefer to head to Seminyak to shop for the day, an average day trip (approx 8 hrs) will cost you around 600,000Rp per day for 8 hours (USD$45 / AUD$60). Approximate driving distances are: Sanur – 40mins Canggu -1hr Seminyak - 1hr Kuta – 1hr 15min Jimbaran – 1hr 15mins Uluwatu – 2hrs Candidasa – 3hrs Ahmed – 3.5hrs Singaraja – 4hrs Lovina – 4.5hrs Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar Airport) 1hr 15mins (FYI: this is actually located between Kuta and Jimbaran on the West Coast). Transport from and to the airport can be arranged if required (app$25 USD one-way). Housekeeping and Laundry: Our housekeeper will clean the villa daily (Monday to Saturday). Room cleaning will be at a time that suits you best. Your clothes can be taken to the local laundry if required. (A medium sized bag will cost you around $4-5 USD – 24hr turn around). * for expensive pieces of clothing, we recommend you hand wash these yourself.* Masseur: We also have a number of massage therapists who - by appointment – are available to give treatments at the villa. Therapists will bring their own tables, and command a price of 200,000 Rp per hour. Other things to note: Temples in Bali: Please note that if you are visiting a temple you will need to wear appropriate clothing (women must wear a long sleeved shirt or dress, a sash or scarf around your waist, and a long skirt to cover your legs. Women please note: you may not go into a temple whilst menstruating. Men must wear long pants and a shirt which covers your shoulders. Everyone must wear something on their feet. Please do not take photographs inside a temple without permission and certainly not when a ceremony is underway. Craft, Art and Cooking: During your stay in Ubud, you will find a lot of artistic creations from wood carving, jewellery making, to batik material workshops and landscape painters.
