The private rental accommodation "Takasegawa Shichijo" is a fully renovated 115-year-old Machiya Townhouse. The Machiya Townhouse, which forms part of the beautiful scenery of Kyoto, has been remodeled into a building with high airtightness and thermal insulation performance while retaining its original structure, so that you can have a comfortable stay even in the humid and hot summers and harshly cold winters that are unique to Kyoto. From the Japanese-style room on the first floor, you can see the tsubo garden, which is designed in the image of a "roji" (*a garden leading to a tea room). In addition, we have provided a sofa in the hallway so that you can relax and enjoy the view of the tsubo garden. In the evening, you can spend a relaxing time while looking at the illuminated tsubo garden. There are 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor: a Japanese-style room with 2 single beds and a Western-style room with 2 single beds. If there are 5 or more guests staying, we will lay futons in the Japanese-style room on the first floor and use it as a bedroom, though it is a bit of a hassle. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils and dishes for simple cooking.

Each building is set up differently, and it is an inn that is suitable for a spiritual journey that touches the detailed and rich sensibilities unique to Japan and reflects on the scenery of the story.

This area is called Shimawara, one of the six former flower districts, and is the oldest of them, so you can see old traditional Japanese-style architecture within walking distance. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.
