Family-friendly vacation rentals in South Stormont

We’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world and this immediately became one of our favorites. Beautiful spot on the river, relaxing hot tub and everything was super clean. The place was very comfortable for our family. It was a rainy weekend, so we didn’t get to take full advantage of all the outdoor amenities but hope to come back at some point for pickleball and kayaking.

Such a great spot! Quiet, cozy and straight forward with everything needed for a relaxing and genuine rural Canada experience. A perfect place for a couple to get away and enjoy! Highly recommended!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful stay. Our dog immediately fell in love with the space both inside and out. It was great to have a place to stay with our dog where we didn't have to worry about others around (our dog is a bit reactive to other people), and we could easily go outside and immerse ourselves in quiet, peaceful nature. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely have to consider staying again if we come back up to visit the Adirondacks in the future!

We had an exceptional stay at Trevor's bungalow! Perfectly designed for our family of four, it was both spacious and cozy. The location was ideal—conveniently close to local shopping, attractions and a short drive to beautiful Gatineau Park. The house was impeccably clean and beautifully furnished, making us feel right at home. We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, which made meal prep easy, and the comfy living area where we relaxed after our day trips, summer work experience, and camps. The backyard deck was a fantastic spot for us to BBQ and unwind in the evenings. Trevor was incredibly welcoming and quick to respond to any minor issues. Overall, this bungalow offered a perfect blend of comfort and convenience, making our summer visit truly memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Canada's capital while enjoying a homey retreat!

Erin's place was wonderful for our family of 12! We agree with the other reviews - the photos don't do it justice. It was clean and well-equipped. The only negative was that we arrived on a very hot and humid day, so we definitely very hot, with no AC. We brought some fans and did purchase some larger fans. The kitchen was perfect - we made most of our meals. We did go out one night and the Gran View and really like that suggestion. The paddle boards/kayaks and floats were so nice to not have to rent. The river is super calm before and after storms or in the mornings. We rented a pontoon boat from Wellsey Island, and it was dropped off at a nearby marina. We docked the boat on one side or the other of the dock, depending on the current or rough waters. We loved the quiet road for walks, and only a 25 minute drive to A-bay. The grill worked well. All in all, it was a great place!

Emily’s house was a dream and is highly recommended. Our family of 5 (with 3 kids under 10) spent a week at Emily’s house while in Ottawa to help out a family member. We were so grateful for Emily’s hospitality. As we were there during yet another wave of the pandemic, coupled with virtual school, we were basically in lockdown at the house - it could have been a very unpleasant week. Instead, it was truly wonderful to have Emily’s beautiful home to feel grounded in. The house was clean, comfortable, exactly as represented in the pictures, and we were struck by the attention to detail. The communication with Emily was perfect. After a week in the house, we joked about staying a week longer! There is no doubt that we will return.

Beautiful view! Spacious home and very well equipped kitchen for cooking. Comfortable beds with lots of bedding, towels, etc.

Great cottage on a beautiful lake. Our favourite was the terrific view of the lake from the hot tub!

Josseline was a great host, keeping me informed of snow clearing plans during a blizzard and offering assistance if required, without being in any way intrusive. Her AirBnB was lovely and bright, private and convenient. The entire place was clean and comfortable and is a perfect size for one or two to relax or work in.

James has a great space for visiting Ottawa. It’s comfortably furnished and well eqipped. We had never used a murph bed and I was wondering how it would work but it was fabulous and simple. I highly recommend this spot and we will definitely use it again. Janet

This was our second time at Rich's place. Rich was a great communicator and very responsive. The home is cozy, easy to work in the kitchen, and has a good gas BBQ on the porch (the BBQ could use a cleaning). Two main sleeping areas were perfect for us and the bathroom was all that we needed. A covered campfire area with benches was fantastic (both years we were there), and the proximity to Upper Saranac Lake Marina and the lake could not be better - just a few minutes up the road. I wish the house was not so close to the road as we prefer the sounds of the woods to the sounds of the road, HOWEVER, we were out recreating all day, so that really was not a big deal. Certainly, we would love to return again next summer, as Rich's house feels like our own vacation home! I would recommend this house to a couple or two friends or a small family seeking proximity to the lake for water sports and trails for hiking. Thanks again, Rich. We had a fantastic time!

We absolutely adored this cozy cabin! It is off the beaten path (literally!) but being away from the commotion of Lake Placid but still within a reasonable distance for adventures was our goal anyway. Super kind and helpful hosts. The provided firewood was a huge plus especially coming from out of state. The wood stove kept us nice and cozy the whole week! Highly recommended

Brandee is a great host and the listing is exactly like the place that was rented. Actually, the place is even nicer, with amazing and private views. I would recommend this chalet to anyone wanting a little relaxing outing in the forest

We had a fantastic stay! The place was incredibly spacious, giving everyone plenty of room to relax. The fireplaces were absolutely amazing, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere throughout. The kitchen was well-equipped and perfect for cooking meals together. Overall, a great experience - highly recommend!

What a lovely spot! Susan & family were so welcoming, my 4 year old loved getting to meet the many beautiful critters surrounding the guest house (getting toppled over by a friendly goat just added to the adventure!). The space is thoughtfully laid out to maximize the views, and the bed & furnishings are super comfortable. This was a staycation for us and it was truly a treat to have such a relaxing getaway in our own neighborhood.

Great place! 4 adults, 3 children. We skied at Camp Fortune 3 days and visited a museum on the fourth. Pictures describe the place very well. Kids played in the huge backyard. We also went for a 2 hour walk on a trail nearby. It’s a house with character, and can be a bit draughty in some places, and also is unevenly heated. That was our only issue. Nice showers and bathrooms. Comfy beds. Good lighting. Kitchen is well-stocked and spacious. Mud room large and convenient. We would definitely return. Thank you!

Very cozy mini-house. For those who love tranquility and are not afraid to live simply.

Highlights of the stay were a really great backyard with pool and hot tub. Beds were comfortable and place was very well equipped. Host was accommodating and responsive.

The house was exactly what we needed for our trip to the Ottawa area—exactly as depicted in the description! My partner arrived before I did, and Anne was very responsive, answering his questions as I was still driving to the house. We also appreciated that someone came to clear even more space in the parking area while we were there. Would highly recommend for anyone who needs a place to stay with their dogs.

Incredible stay with my husband and son at The Ledges. Could not have asked for a more perfect and serene getaway to a beautiful setting enriched with so much history and things to do and see. Truly enjoyed the property and every bit of it was so well decorated and comfortable. LOVED the bathroom, loft, fireplace, and opening the upper window in the morning to the most serene view. We hope to return soon for more true quality family time!
