Family-friendly vacation rentals in South Hero

The house was perfect for us. We were a group of 8 and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep, plenty of space to move around, park our cars and sit while relaxing throughout the house. Ryan was so helpful and quick to respond if we had any questions. Lovely house, hope I get to return.

I really enjoyed the quiet, private porch. A Cup of coffee, while watching the birds and hearing the river nearby was quite relaxing. Great location for viewing the stars at night & long slow strolls on the country dirt road.

Not sure if it was the mattress, the sheets and quilt, the pillows, the Vermont woods, Vermont fresh air, or the rain hitting the roof… maybe all of it… but, my husband and I have not slept so well in… maybe EVER! Rob’s home is super comfy and dog friendly. The hot tub is a nice feature and works wonderfully. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful location for your visit, this hits all the marks. Sitting outside with your morning coffee is a treat. If weather doesn’t cooperate, recommend sitting in the den in front of the picture window. Our old dog truly appreciated exploring the fenced yard, and we loved allowing him off off-leash. Great place to stay!

Samantha and Chris's place was a perfect spot for a Smugglers Notch getaway! it's a beautiful home, perfect for a family of 4. Even in cold temperatures( at -5F and lower) with lots of snow, the place was cozy warm with the wood burning furnace (clean and devoid of smoke) as well a propane heater downstairs. Literally 2 turns from the slopes of a great family ski mountain! But the views and location of the property were amazing for those wanting to do other things than ski. Samantha was responsive and an excellent communicator. I have to throw in that everything in their kitchen was in excellent condition (every appliance) including sharp functional chef knives (an uncommon phenomenon for a renter) Thank you Samantha and Chris! Sharing your home with us was a touch- stone of great new family memories!

This place was perfect for our family of three for a long weekend. The room had everything we needed and the views of the village from the balcony were amazing. Lots to do in the village and plenty more just a short drive down the road to Stowe. We’d love to come back in the summer when there are more outdoor activities available.

We really enjoyed this place! The property is beautiful. The pool looked really clean and well cared for (but we didn't have a chance to use it). The supplied linens and especially the bath towels were great. This certainly will be on our list the next time are in VT.

This property was exactly what we were looking for for our low key bachelorette/girls weekend! Judi was fantastic about communicating with us about the best hiking trails, nearby activities, and most delicious local restaurants. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed including a beautiful kitchen with all of the essentials and more. The fire pit and hot tub were the icing on the cake. It was spacious, homey, and incredibly clean. We can’t wait to come back!!

We had a beautiful stay here. Being Muslims, privacy was our priority, and we found the place very suitable and private. Had all basic equipments and necessities. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, as well as the rooms with extra linens and towels. The host was friendly and quick to respond. She had given us all required instructions before our check in by message, which made our check in super easy. The patio had good seating also. With the pool, sauna, and hot tub, we were able to have a great stay Alhamdulillah. The pool was to open from June and we had our stay in the last week of May, and so we requested for pool access and the host was nice enough to let us use it. Would definitely consider coming here again!

We loved how she had breakfast items stocked for us! The beds were so comfy and the tiny house was so cute! Enjoyed our stay!

If you’re looking for peace n serenity this is the spot! Cabin was clean and well stocked and our dogs had a blast running up n down the trails! Roy was very accommodating for us and our dogs…only downside for us is that one of our pups is not very dog friendly so we had to be aware of Roy’s cute labs and make sure they weren’t out when we let our girls out. Highly recommend!!

Claudia’s cabin was exactly as described- a private little cabin in the woods. The house was adorable, cozy, and close enough to Stowe for skiing (about 25 mins to base). The only minor issues I had were the use of the beautiful soaking tub (unusable due to water pressure/temperature), the temperature of the first floor bathroom( cold), and the amount of dog hair throughout. Disclaimer, I travel with my non-shedding dog so I’m not used to seeing dog hair on my clothing, and perhaps it was the previous renter who had a long haired shedding dog, but it was everywhere- couch, beds, cozy chairs, floor. Came home with hair covered clothing. There’s a sign by the door that says “no outfit is complete without dog hair”! These issues were not enough to complain to Claudia about, because as I mentioned - minor- everything else was spot on. She even had snacks in the fridge. Do bring extra toilet paper and paper towels if you book. I couldn’t find any. Otherwise, great stay.

This was the perfect cabin for our weekend getaway! The pictures were exactly what the place looked like. Bill and Sarah were very helpful and responsive. I would definitely stay here again!

The property was exactly as described in a beautiful setting right on the river. The cabin was spectacular and well appointed and situated so close to town it was perfect for our stay. We will come again.

Dori's place was lovely. There is a nice park very close to walk your dog and I felt very safe at Dori's. You can walk to Pine Street where you will find restaurants. I highly recommend Dori's place.

We loved our stay! The house is gorgeous, the property is breathtaking, even during black fly season, and the hosts were so thoughtful, heating the house in advance of our arrival during an unusually cold week. They really thought of everything. We would love to come back!

This place was great for our family of 4 — good common area, 3 separate rooms. We walked to Church Street and downtown, and had easy access to UVM. Errin was very helpful and proactive. Great, easy stay for us.

Chad was an incredible host! He was extremely accommodating with any requests we had. The views from his place are breath-taking! We enjoyed snowshoeing from the backyard onto trails in the woods. I fell in love with his cat who visited daily! He kept the driveway plowed and salted in a timely fashion. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend his place!

We had a great stay at William’s. The location was beautiful and the house was comfortable. We had a great mix of day-tripping and relaxing with a view. We also ran into William and he was very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful spot to relax, reconnect and leave refreshed! We enjoyed everything about our stay, especially the sauna, living pool, and hike to the yurt! We would love to return, thank you for sharing such a peaceful place with us, it was exactly what we needed.

Absolutely magical stay 🤩⭐️⭐️ If you’re looking for an escape of the city this is the perfect place!! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in nature without sacrificing any comfort. The cabin was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we could need. 🫧 Lisa is such a great host and she is always there for her guests and everything they could possibly need. 💯 If you’ve ever wondered what the real definition of a hidden gem is I would 1000% say it is this beautiful cottage. 😍 I would go back any day and I’ll definitely stay even longer next time because this is such an incredible getaway cottage.

Absolutely wonderful stay! As a family of five, we couldn't have asked for a better place. The unit was incredibly spacious, comfortable, and had such a warm, homey feel—it truly felt like a home away from home. The mountain view from the living room window was beautiful, a perfect backdrop for our mornings and evenings. Jeff, the host was exceptional—extremely responsive, thoughtful, and helpful throughout our stay. Every question or request was handled quickly and kindly, which made our experience stress-free and enjoyable. We had some wifi issues which took time to resolve but Jeff helped and made sure it is taken care of. The apartment was impressively well-equipped with everything we needed, clearly a lot of care went into preparing the space for guests. The location was perfect for us— surrounded by beautiful trails that we explored as a family. If you are into skiing, the ski tracks are short drive away. It was the ideal base for both adventure and relaxation. Highly recommended

Kristin was super easy to get in touch with. The house is beautiful and super clean. They provided us with towels and soap, it felt like a hotel. Plenty of space. The pool wasn’t available but the jacuzzi was SO nice. You can see deer from you window, it was magical.

Linda was a fantastic host, and her home was even better than listed. The cabin was a good size for our family of four + dog; the 2 bed / 2 bath arrangement allowed for good privacy when needed. The fireplace was great for apres and winding down at night. Location is a nice mix of seclusion (off the Mountain Rd), but close to everything.

Always a great stay, no matter what season!
