“Friendly and considerate housewife - personally came to check that I had everything I needed. Loved the privacy (separate unit on the second floor), the quiet (could not be heard in the residential housing area of any dog area), from the center within a 30 minute walk, the path goes through the park.”

Yes, the accommodation is actually the converted attic of an old barn. Everything was made with a lot of love and for those who cope with the simple amenities, it's a paradise. If you're looking for luxury, don't go here. If you are looking for a very unusual place to stay that is simple but clean and really very, very original – this is the place! We enjoyed it extremely well! Many thanks for this.

We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved it! The house was spotless and had everything we could possibly need- and more! From charcoal and all the grill tools, logs for the hot tube and sauna, to a great coffee machine and thoughtful touches throughout. The terrace was super cozy, surrounded by lush greenery, with plenty of different types of swings and places to unwind. At night, the starry sky was magical. It’s ideal for 3-5 people with plenty of space and clearly lots of love and care from the owners, both inside and out. The host even left us some sweet, delicious surprises that made us feel truly welcomed. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, making the most of the house and garden.Time flew by, and honestly, we didn’t want to leave. We would love to come back again someday. Thank you for everything! A fantastic place with a very responsive and welcoming hostess! Perfect for those who love privacy and peace. And who know how to roam the rowing boat :) The house had everything we needed on the water - a fully equipped kitchen (there was coffee, tea, all the spices, oil etc on site), comfortable beds with great linens, an extensive record player with a great wide collection, even activities for the kids (games, coloring books and pencils, rattlesnakes). It should be noted that the water from the tap is a lake, but drinking water is also available in the kitchen! Patio enclosure safe for children, on the deck everything you need for full relaxation - hot tub, grill, fire pit, tables with chairs, 4 paddle boards. And all in very good condition. Cope excellent too! Our family (especially the kids) are thrilled - we will definitely be back :)

Really enjoyed staying in the Message Cottage. Reinis as hosts were very responsive and quick to respond. Everything about it was tidy and clean, the view is superb. The cottage has everything in mind, everything you need is available on site. We can only say the best of staying here! 🤍

A spacious and stylish house only a short drive from Valmiera. Our stay was very comfortable and we enjoyed it a lot. All communications and directions were clear and to the point, superb experience. Also, loved the easy access to the Gauja River - excellent for a quick refreshing swim.

"Gaujmals"- a romantic retreat in a picturesque location

We loved our stay in this beautiful old Latvian property. The cottage is full of character and must have an amazing history. I love that Marcis leaves the keys to other historical buildings on the grounds. My son loved exploring the veranda, barn and drying barn. We also loved the proximity to the river swimming spot (5 mins walk, take insect repellent in the summer). This is a unique way to experience Latvian living of yonder year, but with the necessary mod cons (hot shower, fridge freezer, electric hobs). We also found the bed extremely comfortable. Do not expect luxury, but do expect lots and lots of charm and character.

A spacious outdoor shelter features a wooden structure with a sloped roof and a sign reading 'Jaunzilakši.' Two wooden lounge chairs are positioned on a paved area, surrounded by landscaped gardens and trees. Natural light highlights the warm tones of the wood.

The place is excellent - very thoughtfully and lovingly restored and redesigned, spacious, impeccably clean and well taken care of. The house is also magically located - deep in a forest, with quite some natural attractions in the surrounding woodland. Having said that - all the modern amenities are present and in good working order. Highly recommended.
