A well set up and highly suited, yet underrated, homestay among secondary rainforest for anyone with a keen interest in birdwatching, wildlife photography, natural history or ecological studies. Although they are not necessarily wildlife experts, Ariff and his team are well-connected, knowledgeable in the local topography and wildlife-watching spots, and supportive of those keen to study wildlife while staying at Mendung Escape. Definitely a place to visit again for anyone not averse to being a bit more isolated among nature, although with most of the usual homely comforts.

Teck and his family were the best hosts we had so far! The communication with Teck was always perfect! We booked spontanously the night before and could move in the next morning. Teck always responded very fast and tried his best to help us! Since he wasn't there, his parents were our hosts, never saw so helpful and nice people! The mother brought us so many stuff for cooking and for the house (far more then usual). They even drove us to the hostel we stayed before (30 min away) and brought us to the next local market. The accomodation is quite far from kuching centre but if u rent a scooter its not a problem to come from a to b! It's surrounded by buddhist temples so that the area is quiet and peaceful. We loved the house ( u have everything there what u need) and will defintely come back! Ah Teck alao drove us to the airport bcs it was too early to get a grab! I can honestly recommend the place!
