The ski and hiking areas in the Thuringian Forest (Oberhof with international competition venues, downhill with a lift and Schmiedefeld) can easily be reached in 20-30 minutes by car and also by public transport.

The Goethe city of Ilmenau, the state capital of Erfurt or the Vestestadt of Coburg in neighboring Bavaria are easily accessible by highway.
