Great stop for organic groceries and health food products. cheaper than Whole foods but not the best market for inexpensive goods in the neighborhood.

My favorite vegetarian spot when my family is in town and i want to spend extra $$. While the website is very clear that they are not necessarily a vegetarian menu, most of the items are ayurvedic inspired and absolutely delicious. Worth a visit if you can get a table.

Not terribly far from our apartment- you'll need to take the L train or grab a Lyft to get to Williamsburg. One block away from the new Domino Park and other awesome Williamsburg haunts. Great brunch options as well.

An easy 15-20 minute walk to the heart of Bushwick's art district, this park is great for sunbathing, playing handball, or dog watching. One block away from the L train and great Bushwick Murals

Excellent collection, great social events that are free every first saturday of the month. It's also conveniently located next to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden if you're aiming for a two-in-one.

This is my favorite climbing gym in NYC. You can grab a day pass and rent shoes- there are boulder climbs for all levels. It gets crowded after 5p so go early!

This park has it all- a zoo, a roller skating rink, a lake that you can paddle boat in, even a doggy beach. It's a beautiful place to visit when you need a break from the craziness of the city. Oh, and it's free!

Do you enjoy reading? Do you enjoy browsing rare books? go to Strand. Most of the time you'll find a good deal on the bargain cart- if you don't you'll at least get to visit one of the coolest bookstores the city has to offer.
