Why locals recommend it

The Strand’s vast film section is near the back of the first floor, where the ladder-high shelves are crammed with an amazing mix of popular, rare, and used books. You can find a strong selection of memoirs, screenplay collections, or even books on film scoring. Sometimes you find what you’re looking for. Often you discover something even better. Upstairs in the Rare Book Room, check out valuables like The Adventures of Antoine Doinel: Four Screenplays by Francois Truffaut, inscribed by Truffaut to film critic John Simon for $1,000.

Do you enjoy reading? Do you enjoy browsing rare books? go to Strand. Most of the time you'll find a good deal on the bargain cart- if you don't you'll at least get to visit one of the coolest bookstores the city has to offer.
