  • Given how great the place looked online, we were surprised when we realized it was even better in reality! This is the type of place we would love to stay in at any time of the year. Amazing stay, we will be back!

  • I actually didn’t even notice in the listing that this was a real log cabin. What a nice surprise. Very well built solid beautiful place. Super cozy but with all the conveniences you need. The location is great and Stephan though of everything you will need, open the closet and there is an entire wall of DVDs and you can find games and puzzle everywhere, and he was always available to answer our questions. Book it and be prepared to relax and unwind. Would go back in a heartbeat and didn’t want to leave.

    Brad2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's place is the perfect winter retreat. The home is warm and cozy. We spent our days reading by the fire and watching the birds and squirrels outside the window. The home is equipped with everything you'll need to kick back and relax. It was a very memorable stay!

    Sandra2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's place was a great spot for my family vacation. It was super accessible, modern and cozy. It was better in person than in the pictures! We loved that it was dog friendly and went to local trails for walks! I would recommend some sort of memory foam topper for the upstairs beds. Stephen was a kind host and can't wait to return!

    Jade2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen was a great communicator, and the place was very nice and well appointed. We enjoyed the wood stove, DVD collection, and comfortable beds during our winter getaway. Would definitely recommend and we hope to come back in another season!

    Kim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen’s cabin was the perfect winter weekend getaway. The space was warm, inviting and incredibly clean. From snowshoeing on the lake, toasty fires in the wood stove and a visit to Silent Lake Provincial Park to walk some of their beautiful trails, this cabin gave us the relaxing, unplugged weekend we were looking for. Stephen was an excellent host, with thoughtful touches and quick responses, he made this experience one that we’ll definitely repeat.

    Lindsay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen’s place is absolutely amazing! He thought of everything and anything that’s needed. His home is well equipped with thoughtful touches ranging from a welcome note to a first aid kit! He even had a binder with clear instructions and tips for local hangouts! Overall, his quick responses were impressive and I will definitely head back to Stephen’s cottage in the summer time!

  • I’ve stayed at Tom’s property previously and while it is always incredible, my visit during the pandemic was exceptional. Tom’s space is so comfortable and peaceful it gave me the getaway I needed. Tom’s place is always spotless however during these times he went the extra mile and left the appropriate cleaning supplies and told me to use as much as needed to feel comfortable. He practiced social distancing at check in and check out .... his efforts were welcomed. Highly recommend Tom’s place even though it causes a challenge for me to book when he’s so popular 🙂

    Michelle2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Was a great place to stay, very clean and organized! Also a spectacular view.

    Mckenzie2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a spectacular place in one of the less commercialized locations. We were here during the winter and plan to be back for other seasons!

  • Everything about our stay was wonderful. Tom was so lovely to meet and he respected our privacy during our entire stay. The cottage was spotless and very cozy. Everything we would've needed was provided for us and we really appreciated the extra brochures he left out! We would definitely stay here again :)

    Jenia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful & romantic getaway spot! We liked it so much the first night that we decided to extend our stay! 10/10 would recommend! We’ll definitely remember this place next time we want to stay in Gravenhurst :)

    Emma2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I decided to stay at Tom’s place this winter and I am beyond thankful we did. Not only is Tom’s home even more beautiful in person, but his kindness and hospitality made the experience even better (especially getting to meet his dog). The cottage is close to town and all necessities, and is the perfect relaxing get away for any couple or individual. I can’t wait to come back, and definitely plan to. Do yourself a favour and book this cottage ASAP.

Come stay in our cozy cabin nestled in the woods, alongside the Gatineau River. It’s just a short 15 minute drive from downtown Ottawa, followed by a beautiful five minute walk into the forest. This is truly an off-the-grid cabin experience with some perks, so come ready to disconnect and relax.
We built this cabin in the woods behind our home. It’s a completely secluded spot without interruption, but you are still only a short drive from any possible amenities you may need (i.e., grocery store, pharmacy, gas station). As previously mentioned, the cabin is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water, but there is electricity powered by solar-energy. This means the cabin is completely lit and you are able to charge devices (i.e., phone and/or tablet). That said, there is no wifi. You will have access to an out-house with a compostable toilet. We also provide our guests with drinking water, as well as any water needed to cook and clean dishes. Additionally, the cabin is heated with a very efficient wood stove. The kitchenette is well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, a coffee press and some basic cooking needs (i.e., spices, flour, salt, pepper, sugar). We also provide a small stove-top for cooking.
  • Carolyn is a wonderful host. The cabin is very clean and the perfect little getaway. Also, her farm fresh eggs are the best we've ever had!

    Amanda2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were only at Carolyn's space for one night but enjoyed it immensely! The cutest, coziest cabin with everything you could possibly need to chill and relax. We can't wait to come back again, perhaps in the summer or fall for a completely different experience :) Carolyn was extremely lovely as well with amazing communication. Thanks again! x

    Lynn2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice location and great hosts!

    Hannes2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! My boyfriend and I decided to spend the weekend there to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The place is really cute and you can access it via a little walk in the woods! Carolyn wasn’t there when we arrived but she made made sure that we would have everything we needed. She was easy to reach and answered all our questions. She even lent us her sled to move our heavier stuff around. Great hosts, great little cabin, great spot..!

    Daphnée2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at this little cabin, wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin is very well stocked and has everything you need. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

    Chelsea2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute place. It was really perfect to spend the night and just enjoy nature :) would recommend!

    Chelsea2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was unreal. The location is within 10 - 15 minutes of downtown Ottawa but somehow you feel like you're in the middle of the woods right off the river. The view from the cabin itself was great. No matter what corner you looked out, there was nothing but trees with guided pathways from your parking spot or to the water. There was a firepit and barbecue outside within 10 feet of the wood supply and a few Muskoka chairs to chill out. The electricity is solar, and we had no issues charging multiple phones at once and had the exterior lights on for about 4-5 hours (we left them on by mistake). Only then did they start to flicker because of the lack of power. Inside the cabin there's a few board games, pots, pans, etc. If you're not an environmental junky then I might recommend bringing paper plates which you could use as fire kindling. We ended up boiling water which took about 5-10 minutes per use (which we didn't mind doing). She leaves you with a good supply of butane to run the portable stove, but no propane for the BBQ outside. All in all, this is an unreal place to chill for a weekend. You can easily sit back and relax with your favorite people, or even work using your phone's internet (LTE ran flawlessly). Carolyn was great. I noticed there was only 1 set of snowshoes, and without asking she brought a second. You're crazy if you don't like this place.

    Brendan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • As I sit down after several days of reflections and recollections, I look upon this journey with great fondness for this lovely little cabin in the woods. As the snow was falling from the sky and we were warm in the cabin, we were able to marvel in amazement at the beauty of nature. But actually, this place is great and there are many special touches around the winterized cabin; snow shoes, plenty of firewood, a well-stocked kitchen, and a very comfortable bed.

  • I can honestly say that this is my best air bnb experience so far! I am a frequent traveller and was so impressed with Cindy and Desmond’s hospitality. Cindy was so attentive to our needs- she met with us and told us about the area, let us borrow snow shoes (key to doing some of the beautiful trails at Algonquin), and even brought us muffins! Overall lovely stay with wonderful people. We will definitely be back- do not hesitate to book this stay!

Restored 200+ year old Log Cabin on 200 acre WF farm, with 2000ft WF on spectacular Desert Lake. A natural paradise of true Canadian Shield. One double bed, one King in loft. Full kitchen. 3pc bath(shower) . Very private get-a-way .
DESCRIPTION: It is rare to have private enjoyment of over 200 acres of a waterfront farm with 2,000 feet of spectacular shoreline on pristine Desert Lake. Follow the horse trails through pasture and woods. See trees that have graced this land for hundreds of years unspoilt. This is true Canadian shield country. Bring a compass and a camera. The home is fully equipped for your vacation, four seasons of the year. The home has a sleeping loft with a king size bed and one small main floor bedroom with antique double brass bed. Linens and towels are always cleaned/sterilized off-site after each visit. Open concept kitchen/ dining /cozy living area with a woodstove. The cabin is ideally suited for a couple. However, 4 people- (two couples) can be easily accommodated. Wood is provided free of charge. Extensive rear decking for outside dining in warmer weather plus a wrap around covered porch. Central heating system and air conditioning for year round comfort. Modern appliances, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, stove, coffee maker, electric water kettle, water cooler, BBQ. Amply furnished for the comfort of our guests of 1 to a maximum of 4 people. Flat screen 40inch TV with Blue Ray player and a random assortment of DVDs. Unlimited WIFI access to stay connected to the outside world. Basic condiments, sugars , salt etc. etc. are provided. When staying at the log home you have access to 2000 feet of pristine and private waterfront on Desert Lake with 200 acres of field and forest for hiking and exploring. This is not a campground or resort. You will appreciate a very private time. The exclusive waterfront has a large floating dock with ladders and the water is very clean and exceptional for swimming. (During warm weather). Bring your own kayaks, canoes , boats or use ours. We have two kayaks and a canoe available with paddles and PFDs. If you have a motorized boat, there is a public boat launch about 3 minutes down the road, near Desert Lake Campground where Holleford and Desert Lake intersect. Get in the boats and explore Desert Lake, Mitchell Creek, Birch Lake and Kingsford Lake giving access by water to Frontenac Provincial Park. To access the private waterfront on the farm you can drive or enjoy a 5- 10 minute walk on a very attractive private lane. During the summer there are a few cows and horses on the property grazing on small pasture fields nestled amongst the trees. Most of the farm is pristine Canadian Shield forested terrain, interspersed with pasture. A naturalists delight. This is not a 'run out he back door and jump into the lake' setting. When it was built over 200 years ago, the inhabitants were more concerned about being close to their neighbours rather than an engaging water view. Be prepared to stroll down to the water's edge, or you can drive along the lane to park at the head of a 100 foot trail that takes you down to the 'boat launch' where a large west facing floating dock with a swim ladder is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. Four wheeling and sea-doos are discouraged. Snow mobiles are allowed when there is adequate snow, providing that operators stay on the prescribed trails. Notice is requested in advance from guests bringing snow machines. Desert Lake is one of the largest, cleanest, deepest inland lakes in Eastern Ontario. The lake is approx 4.5 miles long and the deepest spot is 232 feet. The average depth of the lake is 72 feet. Due to the cleanliness of the water and its depth, it makes for one of the premier Lake Trout fishing spots in Southern Ontario. The lake also produces northern pike, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappies and lake herring. For the more adventurous, Birch and Kingsford Lakes can be accessed by a short canoe ride down Mitchell Creek. These lakes offer more wilderness oriented opportunities, like hiking and camping, as they border on Frontenac Park. Frontenac Provincial Park is within a 10 minute drive. The park has numerous hiking trails, dozens of lakes with excellent fishing and an abundance of wildlife. For more information on the park, contact Friends of Frontenac Park. Ten minute drive to Verona, where you will find banking, grocery including LCBO and Beer Store, restaurants, churches, library, medical building , hardware, Farmer’s food outlet ,convenience stores and much more. . Twenty minutes to the north are the quaint little town of Westport where you could spend an afternoon shopping. Also in Westport are two golf courses and one more can be located just north of Verona which is just 10 minutes away.http://www.rivendellgolf.on.ca 40 minutes to the south in Kingston , Amherstview and Camden East, there are several different golf courses. Thirty or more minutes to the south is the beautiful historic City of Kingston, with numerous attractions such as Fort Henry, Bellevue House, Queens University, Royal Military College and Canadian Forces Base Kingston. Please contact Magret for further information and to book your vacation rental.
This is true Canadian shield country in the "land of a thousand lakes". Kingston (population 165,000) is approximately 35 minutes away. Verona, a small town of 500 is approximately 8 to 10 minutes away for the conveniences of gas, grocery, liquor and beer outlet , farmer's food outlet, restaurants, golf course, bank (BMO), medical attention , churches, etc. The renowned Frontenac Provincial Park is less than an 8 minute drive away.
  • Magret's cabin was absolutely lovely even in the off season. I would love to return again in the summer to see it in it's glory!

  • This cabin really takes you back in time and the way it was restored is really impressive. There is so much land to explore, even in winter, you never get bored snowshoeing around. As for accommodation, the king bed in the loft was comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped, with everything you need for cooking ans baking. The bathroom was clean. The wi-fi was really good, we also had access to Netflix and a bunch of DVD's. The communication with Margret was flawless, she responded quickly and gave us great directions to get to the cabin. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, I really recommend this place for a nice getaway.

  • Great cabin in a beautiful location

    David2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Magret's cabin was excellent and we had an amazing time staying there. The photos of the cabin don't do it justice. There was a fire going when we arrived and a welcome gift with a note, which were all lovely touches. We used the snowshoes to walk the trails and see the beautiful landscape. Magret's local tips were spot on and we ended up at food less travelled twice! Loved staying here!

  • Quite place outside the city, great place to unwind. Charlene was a great host and the cabin is exactly like the pictures

  • Wonderful little cabin in the woods. The trails were lovely and we were lucky to have a nice sunny day. The cabin itself was very clean and the beds super comfy. Charlene had the woodstove lit and the cabin was nice and toasty upon arrival. The outdoor firepit was great and had a few muskoka chairs around it. Overall a truly fantastic stay and a really nice spot for a weekend away from the city.

  • A great place to decompress and escape the stresses of the world. We brought our puppy and had an incredible time at the cabin, cooking by the fire and listening to the water rushing by from the creek. We will definitely be back!

  • This little cabin was wonderful!! Exactly as described and a perfect private relax full get away. It was just what we needed!!

    Kelsie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Charlene and Brad are excellent hosts and great people! Both the River Cabin and Lake view cottage, which are in separate area's of the property, have spectacular views, are secluded and beautiful! You will have total privacy and feel like you are the only ones around as well as the ability to enjoy the space and your time there with the added comfort of knowing there is someone just a short scenic hike away if need be. With all the near by hiking trails and lake, we had plenty to keep us entertained and the cabin was a cosy, warm and romantic get away that we much needed. The fire place was already lit for us when we arrived and everything was clean and cosy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend and be back again! Thank you!

My cozy little Glamping Nook is right on Lake Erie and is a huge step up from camping but still a rustic and simple experience. Keep cozy by the wood stove, gather a book from the ceiling high bookshelves, or bust out one of the board games you loved to play as a kid. I’ve got a plethora of nostalgic video games & movies for indoor days. Outside you can take in the sunset or sit & bond around a campfire. You're in for an experience here.
Don't let other listings in our area fool you, I am RIGHT on Lake Erie which means you have full views from your space and direct water access down a break wall and into the water. There's nothing like sitting in front of a campfire with the lake as your backdrop. And with no city lights to pollute the night skies we get the best view of the stars. Please be aware that I am really remote, especially if you’re a city dweller there’s no “shopping” or “bar hopping” or that type of thing. It’s a place you come to unplug. If you've ever dreamt of living in a little log cabin somewhere or being off grid, here's the perfect opportunity to see what this lifestyle is all about! The Nook has so many offerings I hardly know where to start. I’ve been told that it’s cozy, quaint, eccentric, inspiring, comforting & romantic (to name a few). You’re sure to be touched by the Nook. Unlike other Air BnB listings I am sharing *MY* personal space with you which means you get an *experience* not just a place to lay your head. The Nook is beyond relaxing. You'll cozy in & finally find the time you've been needing to read, write, play music or just take in the beauty of your surroundings. The Nook consists of an open space with a double bed piled with pillows so you can sit up & play games or watch a movie. Please note that there is no box spring so the bed is low and cozy (in case you have mobility issues). There's cozy double seating by the fire. Behind the living space is a small kitchen area with all the basic supplies (pots, a pan, kettle, Keurig coffee maker, cutlery, dishes etc), a microwave, small bar fridge, toaster oven, pizza oven & seating area for two. There is no running water in the Nook but I’ve taken care of your water needs by having a hand pump water station that you can use for cooking, washing up, or to make tea or coffee. You might want to bring your own drinking water. I have an outdoor camp style kitchen around the back of the Nook with a propane BBQ & Coleman stove. There is an outhouse with hand sanitizer a few steps outside of the bunkie. During the winter months the wood stove is enough to heat the space nice and toasty, just keep in mind that you will have to venture outside for the outhouse and to restock your wood. In the summer months the breeze off the lake keeps things comfortable. There is also a dehumidifier. Spring & fall are they're absolutely perfect with the best of both worlds, warm enough to venture outside, and cool enough to still need the wood stove for a romantic night in the snug warm heat. I presume you’re coming to unplug, get quiet & connect to nature but if you’re looking for WiFi, hot showers, & shopping, the Nook may not be the right fit for you. We’re out here all peaceful & remote enjoying the stars, the birds, and the fresh air with simple way of being. There is a Conservation area about a 5 minute drive down the street with showers. If you non challantly go in, you can use their facilities, otherwise bring chemical free soap and bathe in the lake. They are only open from the May long weekend until thanksgiving. Otherwise, showering is not an option. THINGS TO BRING -Water shoes & a towel for swimming -Drinking water -Salt pepper and cooking oil for cooking (due to the temperature changes I don’t provide these). -Tupperware or metal containers for your dried goods for night time as there is a mouse that sneaks in from time to time. I can't catch him, but have tried. -rubber boots if it’s wet season or rainy -warm clothes and layers for fall and winter seasons, it can get very cold -slippers -a canoe or kayak if you want to go Please note that there is no outdoor lock on the Nook, this is for insurance reasons with the wood stove. But not to worry you’re in a really safe and quiet community. There is a lock you can lock behind you when inside. ***Follow the Nook on Instagram glampingnook***
I am located in a quiet lakeside neighborhood full of nature lovers & laid back lifestyle. I hope you've come for the peace & quiet & along with that means you're no where near anything! Port Dover is a popular spot to visit during your stay. Large touristy white sand beach with lots of restaurant options. It's about a 20 minute drive away. Long Point is the best beach in the area and offers lots of conservation land. There's great bird watching, eco adventure activities such as zip lining & paddle boarding and even a special initiative to save the turtles & snakes. It's about a 50 minute drive, and well worth it. Selkirk Conservation is about 15 minutes away and have some simple trails and are waterfront. The town of Selkirk is the closest convenience store (where they also have a built in LCBO). Hoovers Marina is a short 7 minute drive away and offers great food, especially breakfast. They are on the water and have a nice patio. It is a seasonal spot. Call before going to ensure they're open. This restaurant is seasonal (late Spring to early Fall). The closest grocery store is in Hagersville up on Highway 6 before Sandusk, it is a No Frills and is open 10am - 9pm generally. It is half an hour away from us so we recommend picking stuff up on your way in. Simcoe has lots of "shopping" and all around Norfolk is a great place to go and check out farms, markets, and Fall fairs. There is some great dining around us. I suggest the Twisted Lemon in Cayuga, the Combine in Simcoe, Lago in Port Dover, David's in Port Dover, Hoovers Marina in Nanticoke, or the Barrel in Simcoe. Lots of Earth to Table and great atmosphere. Alternatively you can pick up Chinese food or Godfathers pizza in Hagersville on your way in or it is 30 minutes away. There is no Uber or food delivery. If that’s the kind of trip you’re looking for, you’re not looking in the right location. We are country remote. Godfathers in Hagersville will deliver but they charge $8 delivery and can take up to an hour and a half.
  • This place is AWESOME! Everywhere you look there is something new to discover. We loved listening to records and playing games beside the fire. It’s also beautiful to be right by the water, walked to a little beach one day (thanks for the tip Laura!) and we had a great campfire outside. Our whole weekend was magical and we miss it already - we will defiantly be coming back!

    Emily2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything positive left in the review of others is exactly true. So many cool treasures in this beautiful spot. I will 100% be returning again some time in the future.

    Julisa2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Laura’s place is amazing. The area is so peaceful and quiet. The Nook is very cute. We went in March and it was cool but it was toasty inside. We explored the near by provincial park during the day and enjoyed the board games, record player and movies in the nook at night. The port a potty was nice and clean and well stocked (a tad chilly but it is March on the water) . Perfect place to relax.

    Ashley2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The nook is as described. It's cozy with lots of fun activities to do inside. Laura is really responsive if you need anything during your stay.

  • This is our second year at The glamping nook, and it was just as magical. My girl and I were here to celebrate our third anniversary, and also for me to propose! Laura's space was the perfect romantic setting. So infront of the wood stove I asked and she said YES! Laura was incredibly accommodating and wanting to help make it perfect. She let us check out late, have secret photographers, and made sure the stereo was going. Thanks laura!!

    Ashley2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place is cozy and cute with a beautiful view of the Lake and fantastic ambiance.

A private micro-cottage with a breath-taking view. Perfect for anyone looking to escape the city of Toronto in less than an hour, seeking a place to just talk and enjoy nature or anyone who needs a secluded spot for rest, relaxation and contemplation.
This is a 107 Square foot "Tea-Cup Chalet" that was cut from genuine Canadian forest and built by hand onsite. The Setting is high atop a hill that has an amazing vantage point of the surrounding countryside. Just a 4 minute drive into the charming town of Erin, ON. We are situated approximately 20 minutes north of the 401. Most guests describe the Teacup Chalet as cozy and with everything they need: screens on all windows, power supply for charging devices, wifi, fans in the summer and heaters / heating blankets in the winter. We've even got a writing desk and chair if you're feeling creative!
This is a private cabin in the country. Within a very short drive however there are fantastic dining, entertainment and shopping options like the Toronto Premium Outlets. Our guidebook is filled with fun things to do during your stay.
  • We had a pleasant stay in the bunkie. We had a nice view from on top of the hill and had everything we needed to be comfortable. A very short jaunt over to Erin, where we found some nice restaurants and the Forks of the Credit provincial park for some hiking.

  • It was an absolute treat to stay at the Here & Now. Everything from the stylish decor, beautiful bright windows, and more books and activities to keep you busy - made it the perfect little getaway. It was very easy communicating with Golshan and I have to agree with all the other great reviews for this place. Needless to say we can't wait to be back in the near future!

    Alice2020-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Golshan's cottage is a perfect peaceful getaway. The panoramic view is gorgeous, the furnishings/accents are stylish and the vibe is inspiring. It is very quiet, spacious and the cottage is filled with interesting books, movies and games. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. The only slight snafu was the internet connection being a little spotty once evening hit but there's so much to occupy yourself with that it wasn't a problem. Highly recommended!

    Patrycja2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful place is much more spacious than it appears in the photos, and made for a very relaxed getaway. The house was spotless when we arrived, and Golshan was wonderful to communicate with - clear, quick and helpful. The only slight downside was that internet was spotty, especially in the evenings, due to the rural setting. We’ll certainly return again!

    Siobhan2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place to stay. Very clean, thoughtful amenities, and comfy living space. Check in and put was extremely easy. Quite close to all that PEC has to offer. Would absolutely stay here again.

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Golshan’s place was an absolute dream. From the moment we walked in and smelled the soothing firewood to the last morning, when we finished up some of her great books, the overall experience may be the best we’ve ever had at an Air BnB. This place is a true oasis. Big windows, great books, a stellar view. If you’re looking to unplug and be in the moment, the Here & Now is the perfect spot. And we don’t use that word lightly. The bed was soft and the room nice and dark, the kitchen was big and well-equipped, the decor was thoughtful and — for us — deeply resonant. We share Golshan’s taste, from the Kehinde Wiley coffee table book to the 90s-centric DVD collection to the awesome little library of books. Even the Rumi poem in the bathroom is one of our favourites. The fireplace was an especially unique touch and made our winter getaway so deliciously cozy. My wife kept saying things like, “oh my god, these mugs! Oh my god, this book! Oh my god, this view!” We were absolutely thrilled and, though we’ve never booked an Air BnB twice, we’re already planning to come back. Thank you, Golshan, for sharing your little slice of heaven!

    Brian2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible experience. Golshan provides everything needed and more for an incredible weekend away!

    Delaney2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is even more charming in person! And the views are breathtaking! Would recommend staying here to anyone and would definitely stay here again myself.

  • The cottage is charming and vintage but with an updated kitchen and bath, just want you want to be comfortable! We enjoyed our stay here with our pup, it was cozy and private and very clean! I'd recommend this spot for your fall or summer getaway on the Bruce Peninsula, fall asleep and wake up to the the sound of lake waves!

  • Coup's Haven provides a quiet, comfortable waterfront retreat with access to great hiking (Lion's Head Lookout being a highlight for us). The cottage is well equipped both inside and out. The water "toys" are especially noteworthy - there aren't many rentals that provide a canoe, paddleboards, and kayaks. The weather cooperated, so it was a wonderful bonus to spend time on the water late in the season. Communication was excellent. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.

  • This is a cosy, clean and comfortable cottage on a sheltered bay, conveniently located only fifteen minutes from Tobermory. The host was great to work with and always quick to respond.

  • We spent three nights at Coups Haven and it was so relaxing. The location is incredible, directly beside the water. The cottage is decorated with lots of love and care. We were very happy about the book with tips for food and adventure options in the area. There is so much to explore (we wish we had‘ve stayed longer). We will definitely come back! Thanks again Nicole!

  • We loved everything about this property!! Great hosts as well!! At Coups Haven you can expect a gorgeous view in a quiet relaxing location. Super private. The cottage is charming combined with chic style. The outdoor space was above our expectations with everything you need to enjoy cottaging. The outdoor fire pit at water’s edge was amazing with the comfiest outdoor chairs. Inside you will have all the amenities required to feel at home. Very clean, with great decor! Very close to Tobermory’s village centre. Also very close to many of the Bruce Peninsula’s nature trails and beaches. A perfect experience for us!!

    Kristen2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Coups Haven was great! The location is beautiful and one of our favorite things was just sitting by the water. If you're looking to enjoy the lake with ample privacy and to stay in a cute cottage with everything you'll need, stay here!

The area surrounding the cabin are forest and farm fields. Rural Stirling Rawdon is primarily a farming area. 20 minutes from Belleville and 30 minutes from Prince Edward County with it's beaches, wineries and craft breweries. There is a gravel it nearby, on weekdays you may hear noise associated with that, as well as truck traffic.
  • Beautiful cabin on the stream. Very relaxing. Had a wonderful weekend.

  • A wonderful peaceful retreat. Nothing to hear but the sound of birds and the stream. Truly blissful. We kept ourselves busy tending to the fire, cooking and eating. There’s a conservation area about a 20 minute drive away. My partner and I loved it :)

  • The cabin by the stream is beyond beautiful. We were lucky enough to have been there in a sunny cold day. It was so relaxing and unwinding! The only noise you hear is the trickle of the stream. The best city getaway. We will be back for sure

  • Great place for off the grid cabin. Its brought be back to my time as child in my uncle's cabin. Highly recommend for anyone who was to be a away from all the hustle of everyday life.

    Gerald2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wow is it ever hard to put into words just how WONDERFUL the cabin by the stream really is! My husband and I spent 3 nights and 4 days just relaxing, resting and reconnecting in the most beautiful secluded spot with our 2 fur babies. The farm fresh eggs were so yummy and the “souvenir soap” a cute touch. It’s easily one of our new favourite spots. Take the kerosene lamp onto the screened in porch and listen to the stream water as it passes by. Watch the birds, squirrels and chipmunks gather their breakfast. Walk the property and look at the rolling hills of farm land and their beautiful horses. And let’s not forget about Dixie, the cutest little “snorting” dog. The hosts are wonderfully kind people! Thanks so much for everything! 😊

  • John's cabin was a very nice experience. The wood stove was our favourite thing about this trip. The cabin was nice and clean with cool vintage decorations on the walls. We had our privacy by the stream in a little forest.

Private retreat with outside fun and social distancing. No need to meet, and a chance to get away while still staying socially responsible, this cabin is close to beautiful hiking, walking and bicycling trails. Suitable for couples, business travellers or lone wolves. Less than an hour from Toronto, this cabin / studio is located in the beautiful village of Belfountain, nestled in the Caledon Hills. Artsy or not, you will enjoy the creative atmosphere and spectacular surroundings. .
This one hundred year old cabin (no basement) doubles as my studio, and is located right in the village. It is a nice place to get creative, whether it be with your partner or for work, and the surroundings are spectacular throughout the year.. It is equipped with a kitchenette and shower, and the garden offers a private space in which to dine or just relax. The steep stairs lead to a loft with a super comfortable king sized bed. I supply the Netflix, you supply the chill :)
The Neighbourhood Belfountain. It's small, but it has quality content. At the three corners you will find two 'coffee shops'. They are open early and have fancy choices and yummy treats. There are a couple of other shops, and ice cream's abound (in the summer). Also check out the Belfountain Inn (around the corner) for fine dining that you can walk back from. The provincial park is spectacular (with a waterfall, a 1900's party cave and suspension bridge) and well worth the small fee they charge to get in. It has trails that loop but also trails that meet up with the Bruce trail. If you want to access the Bruce trail without going into the park, turn onto Caledon Mountain road just south of Belfountain, before the cemetery, go to the end of the road and park by the fence. You will see signs and blazes that will lead you to the edge of the Niagara escarpment, a beautiful view and a fantastic hike. South of Belfountain, east along Old Base Line you will find the famous 'badlands', a cool photo opportunity. (unfortunately they got too famous, so you are no longer allowed to walk on them) and just south of there (on Boston Mill rd) is the Spirit Tree Estate Cidery which is a nice place for lunch and a good place to get different kinds of yummy treats. The Caledon rail trail is a fantastic bike (and cross country ski) trail that can be accessed from any of the roads it crosses around here. The closest is up Shaws Creek Road (the next rd west of here) north about a km. Erin is the closest town with a grocery store, Timmy's, LCBO and Beer store. It is 6 km away. Turn left at the stop sign and follow Bush street all the way to the end where it bends into Erin. There are also some beautiful stores there for other kinds of shopping, a legendary bakery, a chocolate shop and a bistro at the end of the main st. Alton is a funky town you might like to check out. (ten mins north of here on 136) It has the Alton Mill which is full of artist run galleries and one of the best restaurants around, called Ray's Third Generation. If you like Japanese food, Inaka in Caledon is excellent. They have sit in and take out. Orangeville is a twenty minute drive north of here and it has more than it's fair share of excellent restaurants. The Bluebird is one of the most famous for it's excellent food and reasonable prices. If you like steak, check out Steak 63. Forage is about seasonal entrees , Rustik is modern dining with local ingredients, The Barley Vine Rail is a 'Canadian eatery with music and craft beer' and the list goes on. For breakfast check out Judy's In Erin :) Reservations for all the restaurants are highly recommended. If you are leaving here on a Summer Sunday and you are looking for something cool to do, check out the Aberfoyle Antique Market. It's a 45 minute drive through the country and well worth the destination if you like antique and 'fun-stuff' shopping. When you are ready to head home from there you will be two minutes from the 401. Have fun :)
  • This place was just what I needed for a little weekend getaway outside of the city for my partner and I. Although it was a little tricky to make our own meals in the limited kitchen, we were cozy and happy in this quiet little cabin surrounded by gardens. Perfect little quiet escape from the stressful world around us. And Cindy was great with responses about anything we needed!

  • My fiancé and I stayed at Paul’s place during the week of October 20th. We had an absolute blast and couldn’t have been happier with our entire experience. Our interaction with Paul was great and he was very quick to respond. The space itself was just as described. It had everything we needed and more! At night the temperatures dropped below 0 degrees. This was not an issue as the cabin was well insulated and a propane space heater was provided. I am looking forward to staying at this Airbnb in the future ! Thanks Paul!

  • Had a surreal past few days at this cabin! Everything was perfect. Lovely little cabin decorated so nicely! There are lots of sitting areas to choose from with beautiful views. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway this place is perfect. Access to the tin boat and canoe made our visit that much more special! We were able to fish and explore the lake! Paul was an amazing host and extremely easy to contact. Highly recommend this place! Definitely will be back again!

    Jessica2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place was perfect. Communication great and he was helpful with check in. Gave us a quick tutorial on using the boat, propane heated shower (which was amazing) and propane heater (as we were there in Oct). It was incredibly relaxing, private, cozy, clean and had an unbelievably beautiful view as the fall colours were coming in. We canoed, kayaked and just enjoyed the peaceful outdoors.

    Laura2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cabin on a beautiful lake. Definitely a dream spot for a quiet, remote getaway. Having access to the boat and canoe was great - exploring the small lake was a lot of fun. We had pretty cold, windy weather so were happy to have our big down jackets and own sleeping bags! Would love to come back to this spot in the summer time. The cabin has all the basics for cooking, and a few fire spots outside, which was great. Take a head torch for midnight trips to the outhouse! And mosquito spray too!

Utopia is truly a slice of heaven and is a peaceful and healing haven for those seeking relaxation and restoration of the body, mind and soul. I spent many days in the box car cabin and felt all the stress of the city melt away as I listened to the beauty of nature surround me. In terms of price, it was an exceptional value. I have yet to see a place offer so many amenities at this price. I also don’t use any toxic, chemical cleaners or products in my home, so to find a place where everything was natural was a huge bonus. The box car cottage is very comfortable and I had a restful sleep and enjoyed listening to the gentle sounds of nature sing me to sleep. I was able to maintain my healthy diet, enjoy a cup of tea, cook great meals (often with wild, organic food provided by Vera from her property) enjoy a dip in the spring pond and soak up some sun on the patio of the box car. I enjoyed taking showers and drinking the water, knowing that the quality is excellent and comes from a pristine artesian well located on the land. A friend of mine specializes in finding “great quality water” and when he had a dip in the spring pond, it was a taste of heaven and he verified the exceptional quality. There are lots of activities to enjoy at this lovely retreat. I had a wonderful time walking the large property, looking for and picking the most amazing herbs (like stinging nettle, thyme, sage, oregano, parsley, etc.) plus incredibly healthy, wild foods like mushrooms, fiddleheads, wild leeks etc. After picking a bag full of goodies, I proceeded to enjoy a beautiful session of yoga in the screened gazebo which overlooks a gorgeous view of the river and property. It is a breathtaking view and extremely tranquil. You can also meditate or read a book there. Then I proceeded to the river and used some of the rich and mineral dense mud by the shoreline and blissed out in the sun! What a great spa treatment; the same procedure would have cost at least $50-120 at a high end spa! I then took a divine dip into the spring fed pond and then went for a magical kayak ride to explore the land - you can canoe/kayak all the way to Wassaga beach so you can really have an adventure with this! There are some rare birds I saw in my travels on the property and all kinds of wildlife to marvel at, it’s truly an ongoing adventure with so much to experience. Other days I took a book and a blanket to sit by the cliff that has a breathtaking view of the lookout and Nottawasaga River. This is one of my favourite spots on the property! The view is priceless and the peace that surrounds you is beyond words. Finally, at night, I loved to take my flashlight and walk around the property to see the stars and enjoy some light exercise and fresh air. Then having a swim in their chemical free pool, hot tub and infrared sauna to end off the night was supremely satisfying! There are very few places that can provide a non-toxic environment, especially in pools, as Vera has done successfully. Everything is clean and it is such a great experience to be able to enjoy a hot tub or pool without worrying about chlorine and toxic chemicals. This was a real treat. I can’t say enough good things about this place - it is truly an experience you will not regret. Vera is an exceptional host and she goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and she leaves no stone unturned in terms of providing full and exceptional service and accommodations for her guests. She is very friendly and is also very knowledgeable about health, and creating a healthy and non-toxic environment. The place is remote enough that you feel one with nature, but also close enough to the city that you can easily get groceries or anything you desire minutes away. There is an organic restaurant five minutes away as well that is very delicious and will satisfy your craving for good, healthy food. If you get a chance to try Vera’s cooking, you are very lucky and will love her food! She is an amazing chef and a wonderful person that you can learn a lot from if you are interested in natural health, permaculture, foraging, yoga, etc. - Dee Sharma Very nice place! Full of nature: beautiful landscapes as forest, river, field, pond… Many wild animals we saw a deer, a porcupine, and baby birds just in one hours walk. We swim in the pond and that was really nice! Thank you very much for this experience at the Utopia Farm. - Oliver Utopia is a very nice and people are friendly. I like the way they live - healthy and they don’t worry about things. They are so many wild animals and beautiful forests too. We saw many in the night. I dreamt about them too. I learnt some knowledge about plants from them too. It is a very nice experience. Thank you! - Langeker
  • This was a great stay. I can imagine how much better the property would be once the snow all melted.

  • This was a great stay for my lady and I on our anniversary. The mood was chill and the land was soothing and relaxing. We took full ads vantage of the hot tub and pool. I’m not much of a pool guy, but seeing the swimming area was enough to make me want to jump in. We visited the nearby conservation area for more outdoor hiking, but even walking the land around the boxcar was enough to get a dose of fresh air. We are seriously considering coming during the warmer months to take full advantage of what this booking has to offer.

  • Great place to get out of the city and get back to nature and relax. Great for two. A little cozy for four in the winter, but still great if you’re close friends or family. Loved our stay.

  • A beautiful oasis! Great communication and helpful tips about local activities! Amazing natural pool and hot tub! Would go back again.

    Alex2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Beautiful spot. It was stunning in winter, so I can only imagine the beauty of the summer in this location. Thoughtful touches throughout the boxcar, including fresh flowers. The pool and jacuzzi is where we liked to spend our time. I met Lucy and her husband and they were so lovely! Great communicators. Recommend this beautiful, relaxing spot to anyone looking to get away and recharge!

    Paige2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience. We would love to return and stay again. It was rustic, private and magical. Thank you, and thank you for having Lucy take care of us; she is a gem!!!!

  • Exactly what we were looking for! Perfect place to get away and unwind. Really enjoyed the trails on the property, great for doing xcountry ski laps. The views onto Nottawasaga river are beautiful, especially with the gazebo overlooking the ravine. The hot tub is a great place to enjoy the sunsets. The boxcar itself is unique, well furnished and cozy. If you want a unique place to relax, this airbnb stay is a top contender.

  • I hope no one books this place, so it's always available when I want to go to Toronto. EVERYTHING. WAS. PERFECT. The place is stunning, the view from the balcony, oh my goodness. The place is so clean, and Alper's check in instructions were so perfect and detailed we had zero issues whatsoever. The location of this place is perfect if you want to be within walking distance of the big hot spots. My boyfriend and I walked to and from the concert we saw at the Scotiabank Arena easily (and stopped in at the spectacular Shawarma place on the way home, SO good). Love this place so much and hope I can stay here again one day!

  • Before arriving at The Coachhouse Loft I was excited, to say the least. Once my reservation was confirmed, Marion did an exceptional job giving me any information I needed in finding her home, as well as communication about the experience. She went out of her way to keep in contact with me and it was greatly appreciated. Once I arrived, I was greeted to a space warm and beautifully decorated. It is clear that the place is as well planned out and organized as Marion is with communication. It was too cold for me to head down to the river or take advantage of the green space, but I hope Marion will welcome me back. This location was well worth every penny.

    Alexandra2020-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This airbnb is beyond anything expected! The property is so so beautiful and Marion is a great host to make sure you have everything you need. The perfect escape for a weekend. The best part is being able to walk down to the dock by the water. Will definitely book again. Thanks Marion!

    Sofia2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely perfect and the Loft was exactly as described. The property is breathtaking and offers everything you could ever need for a perfect weekend getaway. Marion was a fantastic host, I highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back!

    Steven2020-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, amazing amenities, smells great, the furniture, bathtub and everything was extremely clean, comfortable and easy to access. The backyard was gorgeous and the fire pit/river were beautiful and very nice to access. Marion is a great host and she did not hesitate to come and help out with issues that we had. 10/10 will definitely repeat.

    Matthew2020-03-24T00:00:00Z

  • Patrick's place was such an excellent spot to stay!!! It's a bit smaller than it looks online, but very cozy and it has a nice big open living room that doesn't feel crowded at all for 6 people. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you'd need for simple cooking, and the wood stove in there is great. The properly is awesome, it is quite private but Patrick's place is only a short walk through the woods away, and he is very quick to respond to any requests. We had a couple extra guests coming last minute and he appreciated our honesty in requesting for an accommodation of more people than the specified maximum of the property, was very reasonable, and even brought over some extra blankets to make sure we would all be comfortable. Thanks so much Patrick!

A private, light-filled cabin in the Ontario woodlands; secluded and romantic with full amenities, surrounded by nature, trails, and wilderness.
This open-concept cabin in Central Ontario is your cozy, comfortable on-grid retreat, surrounded by countryside and very private. Light , airy, and winterized it is available year-round. You'll only be a few minutes from shops and necessities but seemingly miles from civilization. There are 100 acres in which to roam, with trails, wildlife, fields and northern Ontario forest, nestled outside the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. ********Please read the description thoroughly before requesting a booking.******* Covid 19 Update to potential guests: We are currently not accepting bookings for May as of yet; you may ask for a tentative booking which is easily cancelled and refunded via Airbnb's COVID19 policy, by either party. We will also continue to revisit this status on monthly basis. The safety of our guests and community is very important to us and, by following local and provincial health unit guidelines and recommendations for disinfecting, we are adding extra measures to our already stringent cleaning regimen. Despite being listed in Airbnb’s Eco-Friendly category we feel it is now necessary to use stronger and more abrasive cleaners and disinfectants for all our laundering and cleaning before each booking. These will be applied to all bed and bath linens and towels, surfaces, handles, taps, switches, remotes, appliances, etc. Also as a result of coronavirus, we have removed most of the books and board games so we recommend bringing your own. We also ask that when out and about in our community, you exercise the same cautionary measures as you would in your own and follow interaction guidelines. We look forward to hosting you. The cabin is equipped with one loft bedroom upstairs that has a queen bed and and a single daybed. The main floor has an open-concept kitchen/living area and full bathroom. There is a high-efficiency airtight wood-burning stove in the kitchen. Firewood is provided, however we typically shut it down for the warm season. Back-up heat includes a portable infra-red heater as well as baseboard heaters for those extra-cold days. It has hydro, running water, and a screened-in deck with outdoor wrap-around porch. We provide: bed linens and blankets/duvets, towels, kitchen utensils, LED TV, mini-stereo, bluetooth tivoli with radio, and DVD player. The Tv accepts USB keys/ports if you want to bring your own movies and shows. There is no basic cable services. The kitchen does not have a full-size oven but there is a mini high-end Breville convection oven which can roast a small chicken, and a 2-burner cook-top. There is a propane BBQ as well. If you truly want to get away from it all, this is the place for you. There is a cell phone booster, so depending on your provider, you could receive great service. We are with Telus/Bell and Fido/Rogers and can get full bars on the 3G network and occasionally the 4G networks. There is no wifi service; we have had guests in the past who have used their cellphones as hotspots. There is also wifi available at the Powassan library for a very low cost. There is a landline telephone on which you can receive long-distance calls but can only dial-out locally. There is an outdoor fire bowl to enjoy at night as well. You bring: Your own food HDMI and AV cords for movies and music appropriate clothing good non-slip slippers or indoor shoes (the floor can be chilly in winter) and although our water is 100% potable and tasteless, it is very iron heavy and some may have an aversion to it. The property is not on a lake but is very close to several lakes with public beaches, boat launches, and ice-fishing. There are also several extensive roads, trails and lakes throughout the crown lands next to our township. Airbnb has, for some reason, the cabin listed as ‘shared entrance’ but we assure you there is no shared entrance anywhere on the property; you have a private driveway right up to your private cabin. **A NOTE FOR WINTER OR EARLY SPRING STAY: A 4WD or good AWD vehicle is almost certainly a must as the driveway is quite long, and can take a day or two to get plowed. In early spring it can get slushy/muddy. Some experience using a wood-burning stove is also a must as it is the main source of heat. As your host we will likely be there to check you in, after which we will leave you to your privacy. There is a network of trails on the property (intermediate) for hiking and snowshoeing. We often have spare snowshoes on hand if other guests are not using them. Most outdoor stores like MEC will rent equipment and gear. There is a cross-country ski club nearby (no membership req'd), as well as several OFSC trails. At the nearby lake you can rent a canoe for about $5 per hour. Canoes and kayaks may also be rented at Algonquin North Outfitters and delivered for you at the Kiosk entry point of the Park. The area is ideal for hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, birdwatching, camping, exploring, photography, mountain-biking, x-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, boating, snowshoeing, or just relaxing. We provide a topo map of the area if you are the adventurous sort, showing various wilderness accesses and roads less travelled, and we can point you in the right direction. There are nearby dog-sledding expeditions and horse-riding facilities as well. The area is ideal for moto-touring loops, either on a motorcycle or a snowmobile. Ask us for info! Dogs are sometimes welcome, but please check with us first. Due to allergen considerations of other guests we ask that it be a 100% NON-SHEDDING, hypo-allergenic dog. And cats are not allowed. The cabin is located on a private road just outside of Powassan, Ontario in the Township of Chisholm, which abuts the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. There are thousands of acres of crown land nearby, yet within 10 minutes you can have access to town which has a Beer Store, LCBO, hardware, groceries, restaurants, laundromat, farmer's market, gas station, mechanics, library, tennis courts, public pool, legion hall, cop-shop, and other conveniences. The grocery store in town offers a very decent selection of foods as well as organic produce. North Bay is only 30kms away should you need something from any big-box store, a movie night, or sushi. Please see our Guidebook for local restaurants and activities . We reserve the option to refuse bookings to those without verifications or reviews, and if you are new to AirBnB and do not have any yet we will ask you to tell us a little something about yourself. And please note, guests must 25 years of age or older. By finalizing your booking you will also be agreeing to a waiver of liability, and all the terms of the rental agreement. We will also ask that over Xmas, New Years, and March break that guests book a minimum 5 nights..
Chisholm Township is a beautiful rural area perched just above the northwest corner of Algonquin Park.

  • A cute cozy space to unwind. Lots of interesting books. Kitchen staples were great. Even had a fresh loaf of bread, eggs and milk for me. I understand that most that most people probably don't come alone, and look to get out and explore. For me it was alone time and down time and wish there was a bit of a bigger TV to watch movies on. It is clearly communicated in the description of the cabin about the iron in the water issue. But the degree of it was a little surprising. Alternate water was provided in their defense. Maybe a filtration system would be a good idea. Maybe it's just the chef in me that was a little put off by it. All in all a great secluded space that I definitely enjoyed and would book again with.

Cozy yurt in a private forest area. Walking distance to the cheese factory (ice cream, lunches, snacks), produce stands, and a park. Short drive to Madoc (groceries, beer/ LCBO, parks, beach, library, bakery, restaurants, etc). Perfect area for star gazing, long walks & bike rides. This yurt is in a camping setting, with indoor bathroom, no shower (guests can use the house shower) or wifi but there is electricity, indoor camping stove, BBQ, mini fridge, all pots & pans and clean drinking water.
***** For winter stays, guests are required to supply their own wood for the indoor wood stove ( see below) if you are not comfortable using a wood stove it is not a good idea to stay in the winter as it is the ONLY source of heat****** The yurt is on the same 20 acre property as our house, but it is in its own secluded area in the forest. There is an indoor private bathroom in the yurt and for guest stays over 2 days, you are welcome to come up and use the house shower/ bath. The yurt is all setup to cook meals both inside and out with all cookware, dishes and utensils provided (including a toaster, mini fridge, kettle, coffee press, & water cooler) . We have provided an indoor stovetop for the interior and a small Weber propane bbq for the outside. The outside area of the yurt is in a secluded spot and includes a covered seating area, chairs, a fire pit and the game "cornhole". Guests are required to supply their own wood. We suggest picking some firewood up locally (we give locations upon booking)for the interior wood stove during the winter months to heat the yurt. If you are not comfortable using and running a wood stove, a winter stay may not be the best time to enjoy the yurt- this is still winter camping! We do provide detailed descriptions on how to run the wood-stove and during the winter you can heat to a comfortable 18C or more if you run it properly. There are places locally that sell bags of spilt wood for $5. In the winter months we supply 2 pairs of snowshoes- one male and one female pair! We do charge an extra fee for additional guests to cover supply costs and cleaning, but this is only applicable to additional adult guests. Families are welcome with no extra person fees. If you are looking to relax and take in nature then this is the place for you.
We live in an active farming community that has a large Mennonite and Amish population. Down every road you can find a produce stand, farm fresh eggs and other awesome organic goods. There are always tons of events happening in the small towns surrounding us and multiple farmer's markets every weekend.
  • Excellent unique, cozy , secluded spot for outdoors trip . 5 stars for camping/ yurt experience, really cool trip.

Tiny, cozy, rustic treehouse at the end of a rugged one-kilometre footpath: sleeping platform and woodstove inside; porch and hammock outside. Campfire pit with tripod grill on the riverbank. Appeals to leave-no-trace hikers/canoeists who look for time off the grid, who understand how to function sustainably and respectfully there, and enjoy being self-sufficient and resilient. Pricing: Weekend and holiday rates are higher than weekday.
Very quiet, very basic and private treehouse for 1 or 2 guests with suspension bridge and porch on the banks of the Sydenham River in Southwestern Ontario. Stargazing, birdwatching, a secluded getaway. More like camping than anything - no plumbing or electricity or wifi. We're talking backcountry camping, not car camping. You will need to walk (and carry in whatever you are bringing) approx 1 km from the road to the treehouse on a pretty but rough trail. Sturdy footwear is a must! The two-person sleeping platform (4 ft x 6 ft - you have to like each other a lot!) is cushioned with a mattress of 15 cm (6") gel memory foam, and made up with sheets, pillows, and extra blankets. There is a tiny woodstove (see photo) for winter. Wood is provided. We can lend you a camp stove (let us know when you book) to make your morning coffee and/or meals on the porch, or you can build a fire on the riverbank. Wood is provided for that, too, as well as a basic over-the-fire metal grill. There are camping bowls, plates, mugs, spoons, and a tea kettle in the treehouse for your use, and a couple of fire-blackened pans outside. A shower (indoor or outdoor - outdoor is May to Oct), if you like, is available to you at the farmhouse, 1 km away from the treehouse. Towels are provided in the farmhouse bathroom. (See "guest access" below.) Your private bathroom, however, is a dry-composting outhouse (see photos) 200 metres from the treehouse. Meals are bring-and-cook-your-own at the treehouse firepit, or can be ordered and picked up at the popular restaurant in the nearby (a walkable 2 km away) village any day but Monday or Tuesday. Plan to explore the riverbank on foot, or bring your bicycle for the country roads. Bring a canoe or kayak if you have one. Bring your fishing rod if you have an Ontario Fishing Licence. One note: In prolonged rainy weather the river can rise to the point where getting to and from the treehouse is difficult or even unsafe. We will let you know as soon as possible so that you can make the decision to cancel, reschedule, or stay based on your canoeing skills and tolerance for extremes. Rest assured we won't let you stay if it looks at all unsafe. You will get a refund, a reschedule, or a credit for a future stay. To see a winter video of the place by guests, search for "adventureconwards awesome treehouse for only".
Most of our guests just want some downtime away from the grid to nature-watch, canoe, read, stare primally into the campfire, that sort of thing. But for more: 3D's is a very popular restaurant in the village. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Florence Mill Inc. is the well-stocked hardware store. Nearest canoe/kayak rental place is The Crappie Store in Dresden. Nearest gasoline stations are in Moraviantown, Thamesville and Dresden. Nearest grocery stores are in Bothwell and Dresden. Nearby Alvinston (25 minutes away by car) has Armor's Alehouse, which is a craft beer pub and restaurant with music most weekends. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. We have listed the restaurants, museums, a provincial park, etc., in the online guidebook. There is a hardcopy version in the treehouse. This is a quiet, pretty and friendly area. Biking is easy.
  • Perfect little getaway for 1-2 people off the grid. Amazing place to unwind and Lawrene has got you covered with everything you need and more there. Will be back.

    Mackenzie2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • A truly memorable getaway trip! Lawrene and Harry were wonderful hosts who made our stay at the treehouse a very pleasant one. The treehouse was cozy, warm, quaint and rustic as described. From walking along the river, to sitting by the campfire, to gazing at the beautiful stars at night, the experience was indeed a magical one! Lawrene and Harry's treehouse exceeded all of our expectations! We will definitely be making our return in the near future.

    Filip2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our fourth visit and as lovely and charming as it was the first time we visited four years ago. Communication, cleanliness and hospitality are A+ We always enjoy our time at the treehouse and Harry & Lawrene's company over breakfast the next morning. Until next time!

    Amanda2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lawrene and Harry are wonderful hosts, great to communicate with, extremely accomodating, and both lovely individuals. They made our stay pleasant and easy! This location is stunning. A treehouse, suspended over a river, surrounded by forests and fields. Walking up to the house feels like you are passing through 4 different fairy tale locations. While it does get quite muddy down there, the walk is pleasant and the scenery is great. Lawrene and Harry have left so many nice touches at the cabin, it feels very homey despite its small size. This is the perfect place for those who love to be surrounded by nature. I hope to visit again soon.

    Matthew2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy little cabin! Everything you would need was provided! Lots of board games to play! The place was simply perfect, the wood stove kept us very warm, we had a great night sleep. We’ll definitely be back to this perfect spot in the summer months

    Kevin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay! One of a kind experience!

    Brandy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lawrene’s treehouse was a one of a kind experience. The treehouse is very cozy, even in -20, the wood stove heats it up in no time. Lawrene was very quick to respond to our request for extra wood on our second day. The site is picturesque and entirely secluded. The outhouse was very clean. Highly recommend this experience.

    Sarah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful getaway. Everything was as described. Sleeping bag was a great suggestion for winter guests. Lawrene was fantastic in responding to us and making us feel welcomed. She was super accommodating to reschedule our trip last minute when the initial date showed a forecast of heavy rain and flooding. She even ensured that we weren’t charged for the new rate. Now that we have experienced the winter wonderland, we are very much looking forward to a summer time experience! Things we would do differently when we return: make sure our dog has conquered his fear for bridge and steep stairs lol would pack lighter so less trips carrying things back/forth to the car (about 1km per description) - and more time to enjoy the beautiful scenery! Love the riverbank right next to the treehouse. The treehouse was small but nice and cozy for two. Bandaids, books, games, tea/instant coffee and extra tap water for emergency was a thoughtful touch. You will be completely off grid and not see a single soul during the stay - it’s fantastic. Thank you, Lawrene and Harry. - Rebecca and David

  • Beautiful and modern place inside. Perfect for a couple or by yourself. It is walking distance to Clifton Hill, great for those warmer months! In the bedroom there was a ductless mini split, which is perfect if one person runs a little hot or cold as it is on the one side of the bed. Also, there was a fan and space heater, just incase! There was Netflix available if you wanted to watch TV. We had a wonderful stay and definitely would consider staying at this place again next time we come back to visit Niagara!

  • What a great little private hideaway! Julia was a great host! She was informative in giving us all the information we needed for our stay as well as space and privacy. The place was stylish, cozy, spacious and had a beautiful view of the lake. We loved the generous thoughtful touches of goodies and essentials that Julia left for us and how it almost felt like we were in a hotel. We also loved that it was in walking distance to the conservation park and how nature was at our door steps. Hoping to visit again in the summer to take advantage of many more amenities. :) Thank you.

  • This place is very cute! There are lots of nice homey touches that make you feel very welcome. I loved watching the chipmunks running around in the tree outside the window. The bed is very comfortable, I slept really well. Julia was very friendly and helpful. She responded to every message right away. When I arrived she came to say hello and I felt like she was truly happy to have me there. :-) Thank you so much for a lovely two weeks!

Built into a forested hill beside a river, with a sleeping loft and in-floor radiant heating in a granite flagstone floor, a kitchenette and a three piece washroom, the studio is the perfect place to relax, rejuvenate or retreat into creative work.
Whispering River Studio Retreat is just 10 minutes from Parry Sound and located in a woods of old growth white pine, maple, oak and birch, on the banks of the Seguin River. In spring the scent of flowering crab and apple trees, wild roses, lilacs and pin cherries fill the air. Fall features gorgeous colour on the hills, and nearby hikes feature views of the rocks and cliffs that make this area famous throughout September, October, November and early December. Winter is beautiful too - the season of retreat and rejuvenation is filled with pristine vistas - and lots of snow for the dedicated snowshoe-er or cross country skier! Georgian Nordic X-country ski trails are only 15 minutes away, and can be used in the summer for hiking as well. If you want to enjoy a community Christmas, come and experience the many, many local activities centered around this warm and friendly time of year. You are welcome to relax in the loft, the house's screened in porch, or on the studio porch or the look out and enjoy the gentle whisper of the river, or the wind in the pines. A short walk by the river is beloved by most guests - especially in the mornings when the mist often streams of the water. There is a Heintzman upright grand piano in good condition the house that you are welcome to use. My baby grand in a nearby gallery is also available for rehearsals, workshops and concerts upon arrangement. During the summer the Festival of the Sound at the Stocky Center is home to an International Classical Music Festival. String Quartets, classical and contemporary concert music artists grace the stage, and provide unparalleled musical inspiration for people drawn from all over the world. I have a propane gas stove, washer and dryer, and will provide you with bedding. There is also a BBQ available for use if you want to cook outside. The Seguin River flows swiftly to Mountain Basin Lake - a short 15 minute paddle from the house. You can take trips in either direction. There is excellent canoeing ( although in late August and September the water is very low - but it is still well worth doing the two or three lift-over through shallows), hiking, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing and hunting nearby. Deer Run Golf Course, a beautiful informal course with a waterfall in its backyard, is just across the road.
Parry Sound is a thriving town. Boat tours, a major classical music festival, and a wide variety of summer and winter sports are centered here. Tours, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and water sports, and scenic drives are part of everyday activities for guests in this area. The rugged beauty of Georgian Bay is close at hand, and Canadian Shield country lakes and rivers are here to explore. There is Nordic skiing in the winter, and lots of great winter activities. It truly is a place for all seasons!
  • Brenda's place was awesome! I was visiting with a friend, and we had so much room to just lay about and to work. Not too far from some great trails and parks, even though we couldn't do too much of that during this trip (Mostly due to the weather and a lack of proper gear); we hope to be back in warmer conditions to explore the area further.

    Shad2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • By far the most peaceful relaxing atmosphere I have ever experienced

    Robert2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • I spent three nights at the Whispering River working on a writing project. The space is tranquil, open, and inspiring and I was able to get some really great work done while there. During my breaks I went on walks along the river with my dog Humber and Brenda recommended some excellent trails/Provincial Parks nearby for some more long-distance mid-day walk. My dog Humber was equally pleased by those! Overall it was a great experience and lovely space and I definitely would recommend it to folks - and I hope to book again some time in the future.

    Craig2020-03-06T00:00:00Z

    Timothy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, Brenda is an amazing host as well. We came down from our apartment expecting a nice quiet time and even though we had some weather and car troubles, Brenda went out of her way to help us get to her location and get safely home. I’ve never experienced such top in class hospitality and I would recommend this place to anyone. Not just for the views but for the fact that you will experience an amazingly personalized time.

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful, peaceful setting. There are many things to do around the area (and Brenda can tell you about them all!) or you can just enjoy the quiet forest and watch the river flow. The Studio is a lovely space, and cozy in the winter. The heated floors are fantastic! Hopefully I can return another time and experience a different season.

  • This treehouse is a perfect romantic escape 45 minutes from the city. The panoramic view into the surrounding woods is spectacular and gives an immersive and cozy nature experience. Our black Labrador retriever had a blast running around the property, which is expansive and has trails, ponds, and long sunset views. We made good use of the fire pit and even cooked dinner over the flame on our first night. We'll be back for sure! Thank-you Frank & Oliver.

  • Great place for a time away from people. The weather was great and the property was huge! A must try for couples looking to unwind

    Nima2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! Hosts allowed early check-in to accommodate our schedule. We enjoyed the hiking trails and found the map of the trails helpful.

    Michelle2020-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing huge beautiful property. Great for dog walks. A little piece of what it must have be like to have your own private estate.

    Elliot2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the treehouse was a wonderful escape, just what we were looking for. The pictures are totally accurate, the treehouse and property were just what we expected. The treehouse itself is equipped with everything you need for your stay, including linens and kitchen stuff. And we really appreciated having snowshoes available for us to use, as it was a bit icy on the beautiful trails and the snowshoes allowed us to get outside multiple times during our visit. Having the fire pit close by was fun, a great way to enjoy being outside even in cold weather. Although you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere (in a very good way) the treehouse was very easy to get to. Thanks for sharing this great space with us, and thank you for your hospitality, the bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Hope to see you again.

    Kelly2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place to stay. Not only is the treehouse a unique experience, but the property goes on forever and has beautiful trails to walk through. Everywhere I went I spotted something new. Little nooks with pretty views and benches to enjoy them. They provide snow shoes so no matter the conditions I was able to walk and explore everyday. Frank, Oliver and their dog Oden were all so nice and very reachable. They were making their homemade Maple Syrup this weekend and even gifted me with a jar! Only thing I wish is that it was a bit more affordable so I could go back this summer. But I'm so glad that I got to go. It was spotlessly clean, cozy and peaceful.

    Jordan2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Oliver and Frank are fantastic hosts who go the extra mile for their guests. While the space itself was stunning and filled with such charm, their hospitality took the experience even further. Frank was so attentive and responsive, even dropping off some oil when we couldn't find it in the house. We loved the privacy of the property and, for the first time, it genuinely felt like a romantic getaway. Perfect way to spend our anniversary. The treehouse itself felt more like a "tiny home" as my understanding of a treehouse is a house atop trees. Nevertheless, it was enchanting (and better than the pictures!) and we'd love to go back and experience what it has to offer in the summer. Frank was also gracious to allow early check in and check out since there weren't any guests staying before and after us - if that isn't 20/10 hospitality I don't know what is!
