Places to stay in Eagle Rock

Places to stay in Eagle Rock
Home on historic 18th century property in Eagle Rock, VA. Good sized home with a fully-appointed, high-end recording studio on the second floor! 200 + acres of woods to explore. Hiking, mountain biking, swimming, fishing and paddling near by. A great recreation area on at The James River/Craig's Creek Confluence just a short walk away. Dogs welcome! No cats, please. IDEAL place for bands or musicians to get away, relax and write. Recording services available with your stay at great rates!
A 1600ish sf fully appointed house on 300 acres of woods bordering The James River. The upstairs has been converted to a high-level recording studio with all the bells and whistles. It is an old, rustic, lived-in house in the middle of the woods. We are on a well, and the well water has a slight iron/sulphur smell. This is due to minerals in the ground water. It is perfectly safe to drink, bathe in, wash dishes with, etc. I will provide plenty of bottled drinking water for your stay. I have received a couple of 4 star reviews because of the water quality. Please consider that we're on a well and the water has a smell before booking. I believe the low rate on the house reflects this and that it shouldn't effect reviews. If you're into having an outdoor experience in the woods next to a gorgeous river around amazing opportunities for outdoor sports, beautiful views, and abundant wildlife, you will LOVE the place. If you're looking for more of a hotel experience, it may not be for you. It is an old house on a remote property. There are bugs, dirt, wild animals, etc. We aren't the Marriot. All that said, the house will be top to bottom freshly clean with freshly laundered towels and bedding for each guest. It's a cool, very comfortable spot with a ton of neat stuff inside it.
There is no neighborhood. The house sits on about 300 acres of forest, bordering the James River. There's a great landing on the river for your fishing, swimming and chilling needs. The confluence of The James and Craig's Creek is a secret hotspot for muskie (shhhhh.... don't tell) and a great place to throw a kayak, canoe or tube in and float or paddle. Right down the street in Eagle Rock proper is Maw & Paw's diner, which serves one of the best burgers of your life for about $4. There is no nightlife to speak of other than the wildlife which inhabits the mountain. However, there are several nearby stores within 1-3 miles and 2 Grocery stores within 15-20 minutes.
  • Jake's stay was just as advertised: sure, it's not some super-luxury hotel, but it's clean, spacious, and has a retro feel. While this stay definitely isn't for the bougie, it's a great place to relax. Jake provided plenty of clean water for drinking (obviously in case people aren't comfortable with the well water) and was in touch very quickly for any questions we had. The best part, though, was the studio upstairs. My friends and I got to record a few podcast episodes and it was a blast to riff with some friends on the mic. Overall, this was a seamless experience and is great for a getaway.

  • Jake’s place is so awesome! Huge TV to watch movies, awesome wood stove, full kitchen to cook whatever, and great location for nearby hiking. So glad I stayed here!

  • Place is dope

    Michael2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is exactly how it is described in the listing. It is in a wonderful small town where everyone is super friendly especially at maw and paws where the burgers were amazing. The record collection was amazing especially since as a college student I have never listened to records before. Jake was an amazing host who was always quick to respond and offer helpful tips. The house has a cute retro theme. The water does smell like sulfur but candles are provided and you get used to it very fast. Also Jake was kind enough to leave plenty of water for drinking and cooking and he even left chips and dip for us when we got there!! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be in the woods and have a private get away. I will be staying here again for sure and continuing to hike all of the local trails.

  • We had a great time here for a bachelor party weekend in October. Outdoor fire, Nintendo, Atari, ring toss. Jake really took care of us... left us with tons of water and even some special bonus snacks as well... it was very thoughtful. Good communication as well. For the value I would definitely recommend it for a bachelor party.

  • I don't know where to begin with this incredibly peaceful little hideaway, there is just so many different things to touch on. As a frequent bnb & vrbo user, I was impressed from the start(browsing) and that continued until beyond check out. Jake is very honest & descriptive about his place on the listing. He is very clear that it's not the cleanest or fanciest of places, that the water has unpleasant smell & why, that it's a secluded place in woods... What you don't get from the listing is how tucked away on the side of mountain this place is, that it is surrounded by the beauty of nature with a large fire pit in the cleared, flat "yard", with unlimited area for hiking & exploring, with no neighbors or other buildings in site. The description of the love for music & games doesn't prepare you for the overwhelming amount of fun once inside. I am a music lover/player and also love games as well, so this place seemed made for me. However, it was hard to decide to be outside or inside and if inside what to do first or when. Immediately blown away when walk in and see several different instruments, and an AWESOME record collection that I was unable to finish playing all that I wanted to, (and range from the greats to the unknowns, rock, blues, classical, country, even kids music/stories). Continuing thru house, there's an original Nintendo & Atari that still work!! The studio is beautiful and of course is full of equipment & more instruments. All of these things, are open or out for others to enjoy, which for me is pretty unbelievable & trusting! I hope his space is continued to be enjoyed and respected for many years! Though the water smells due to location, it's minor in comparison to all offered and there was lots of bottles & jugs of water left for us. It's a great place to enjoy the outdoors and though you can hike around & gather wood, I would suggest bringing some as well. Jake was quick to respond, give suggestions, full of information, & very accommodating. I cannot wait to return!!!

    Sarah2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The location is exactly what we wanted. It's off the beaten trail, secluded, quiet, relaxing. We loved the fire pit, and sitting out at night under the stars just enjoying the quiet. We brought everything we needed, and settled in to decompress for a long weekend. This place was exactly what we needed.

    Todd2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. It had everything we needed, including towels and bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking items. We really had fun with the albums and Mario Brothers! The beds were comfortable too. Jake gave good ideas for local fun. The rocky beach across the street is a lovely spot. Go through the barrier and down the trail. Roaring Run Falls is a scenic trail that has a beautiful waterfall. Take your lunch and your swimsuit. We also drove to Natural Bridge State Park and did the Cedar Creek Trail. First there’s a spectacular arch. The rocks are 500 million years old. Next is an exhibit of an Indian village. It’s quite interesting and well done. Then we walked beside a large stream to get to the waterfall. The experience is worth the $8 fee. We didn’t have time to see the caverns. In summary, the host is responsive and helpful and the house is well equipped and in a great location.

Edifice Rex, a 300 square foot studio apartment, is only one mile and less than 2 minutes from Interstate 81 yet offers a very bucolic, peaceful setting. Countless cultural, historical and recreational opportunities exist within a 30 mile radius. The James River and Appalachian Trail are but minutes away. The name, "Edifice Rex" is to honor the caretaker on the property, a German Shepard named Rex. You will not have to interact with him ( he wears a radio collar) but he welcomes attention.
The space was created with old materials and the intention to please those that want a space to comfort the heart and amuse the eye. The pine floors were salvaged from an old building on the property, same for the wainscoting. The headboard for the bed is an ancient pine mantel piece from a neighboring log cabin that is now, sadly, no more. Many of the tables were hand made by the host using old pine flooring and plumbing pipe. The interior doors were also harvested from an old building and the "wall art" includes an old wooden shutter that was originally on the cabin building before it was restored. "The Crimpster" , the character that protects the space from it's perch over the headboard came to life from a metal tool that was once used to crimp tin roofs back in the day. Old stuff put to use again awaiting the next traveler.
  • This is a gorgeous place, do yourself a favor and stay here!

  • Had a wonderful time at Pete’s for the weekend! Very close to the interstate, nice and quiet, and wonderful service! I would highly recommend this stay if you’re looking to lay low and enjoy the beautiful scenes for a weekend. Thanks, Pete!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Edifice Rex! The accommodations were very comfortable and everything we could want was there. We loved how it was crafted and decorated from old materials. Very clever and very appealing. We also got a warm welcome from Rex and the 2 very friendly cats. If we're ever in the area, we will definitely come back.

    Sharon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had to cancel my trip but leading up to it Pete was a very good host communicated great and seemed like he would have been really easy to work with while there.

This second story room within a brand new home has a gorgeous view. You will feel peaceful and relaxed within the quiet of the home. Enjoy your private bath, and our lovely kitchen, front deck, laundry room, dining room and family room. We now have Hugh’s net internet. You have three adults on the 28 acres here. At least one will be available to help at all times! We want your stay to be memorable and delightful! We want you back next time.
So, the driveway is long and goes way up. It is gravel. But the view from your room should make it really worth it! Our home is comfortable and out in the rural part of the county. The drive is about 12-15 minutes from Lexington but exquisitely beautiful. Once you have gotten out of town, you will meander along three smaller rivers with a gorgeous view. The house is big and peaceful.
Quiet and full of wildlife. This home sits on top of a hill with an amazing view. Just a couple miles around the corner is Lake Robertson. We do provide a bear horn and bell but do not worry. We have seen bears only once!!
  • Tamara’s place is located on a beautiful field. It’s a great getaway for anyone. The hosts, Greg and Tamara are lovely. We talked for two hours and they offered dinner including cookies! Their rooms are exquisite and thoughtfully designed with the beds having heat pads. I would definitely go back!

    Claudia2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • I picked this place because it offered breakfast. What I got was so much more. Gorgeous view as advertised. When I showed up, they had freshly baked cookies for me,and they really wanted to feed me a second dinner too. Huge comfortable house that could reasonably be described as approximating a mansion. Great folks who really love to host. Thanks again for everything!

    Ken2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tamara is the best hands down!! She is so thoughtful and kind. It’s my third time here and definitely will not be my last. Sparkling clean, the hosts are super friendly but also will let you have your space. I absolutely love staying here!!

    Jill2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My second stay at Tamara and Greg’s place and it’s just as wonderful as ever. Tamara is hands down the best host ever. She goes out of her way to make sure you feel at home and comfortable. Everything is so neat and clean, and I feel so at home. Cannot wait to return soon!!!

  • Wow! This airbnb is outstanding! The host Tamera is an excellent host along with her husband Greg. Great communication! Tamera responded immediately to questions and was so helpful in the time leading up to our arrival and through out our stay. Her and Greg were fun to talk to and thier cute dog was a babydoll!. The room is beautiful and Tamera put the extra hospitality touches and care for her guests. Heated mattress pad, shampoo/soap, warm chocolate chip cookies, snacks and a coffee setup with all supplies. The bed was very comfortable! The view is spectacular and they choose nice big windows to accentuate the views. My daughter and I took several photos. I visit the area often and this airbnb will be on the top of my list for a repeat stay! Loved it! You will be happy with the rate too...best deal in town by far! Oh and on the way to the airbnb there are some interesting sites including a one way steal bridge that provides for a beautiful backdrop for photos!

  • Staying in the home of Tamara and Greg was awesome. Their home is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The view was spectacular. Couldn’t ask for better hosts.

    Janice2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I can't imagine a nicer place to stay in the Lexington area. Tamara, Greg, and Paul are extremely nice/charming/accommodating, and Jed (the dog) is cute and endearing. The view of Lexington's iconic House Mountain is incredible, and is framed by fixed windows (no obstruction) in every room facing north towards the view, including your bedroom. All of the amenities and details are spot-on: key to your room; clean private bathroom with hot shower, towels, shampoo/conditioner/soap; comfortable and heated(!) bed; 40-50" TV with HBO/DirecTV as well as homemade cookies and snacks/coffee maker in room; state-of-the-art communal kitchen where they make delicious breakfast in the morning; beautifully decorated and comfortable living room/dining room which you are encouraged to utilize. This is a hidden gem among beautiful backroads in the Shenandoah valley, ideal for a relaxing vacation or a stop along a road trip, can't recommend enough.

These are not luxury accommodations, but if you are looking for a homey atmosphere set in a tranquil location, this place is for you. You will be sharing our home with us and our pets - two well-behaved dogs and three cats. (Pets are not allowed in guest bedrooms.) As you can see from pictures, we have one hallway that still needs to be finished. We hope to finish it before the first guests arrive.
Don't expect luxury. There might be dust. There will certainly be laughter, silliness and people/pets moving around the house.
What makes our neighborhood unique is that there is no neighborhood. We are 4.8 miles from VA Route 460 adjacent to Jefferson National Park. We cannot see our neighbors.

Fully detached guest cottage, recently remodeled. Studio set up, with living area, sleeping area, full kitchen and bath. Lots of outdoor space as well, including front porch and deck in rear. Private location yet close by to all area attractions. 10 minutes to Natural Bridge State Park, Caverns, Zoo, Virginia Safari Park. 20 Minutes to downtown Lexington, VMI, Washington and Lee University
The cottage is located to the left of our house. It has its own parking. There is an open area around the cottage but the area is surrounded by woods. It is a great location to relax with nature close by. There is a path you can use for walking. Although it is mostly quiet there are some farm related sounds you may hear. We have chickens and our neighbors have cows, and they can be vocal. Also we have two dogs and two cats that may come by to visit the cottage.
We are conveniently located about 3miles from rt 81. Close to all the Natural Bridge attractions and also Downtown Lexington. Lexington is a great little town with plenty of places to eat and shop. It also has a good amount of history. Washington and Lee University and VMI are both in Lexington.
  • This is a darling cottage nestled off the beaten path. Very clean with lots of thoughtful touches! All natual cleaning and body care products that made it even more perfect! Conveniently located for touring natual bridge and other attractions.

  • Lovely cabin in the heart of the rolling VA hills. Lovely touches with a modern kitchen and bathroom. Extremely clean and wonderful setting. Hosts were thoughtful and communicative. A lovely getaway I would highly recommend!

  • This was by far the best AirBnB I have ever stayed in! So cozy and comfortable. Everything you could have needed was there, and it was also very clean

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Carol's cottage was the perfect space for a quiet retreat close to several gorgeous hikes. As hosts, they were helpful, communicative, and very accommodating. The cottage itself was sparkling clean, easy to access, and effortlessly easy to relax in. Highly recommended!

  • This cottage is a wonderful place and ideal for a little relaxing get away. The place is clean and very cozy. The location is very convenient to many incredible views and gorgeous natural hiking spots.

    Andrew2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really appreciated the gentle warm welcome when we arrived. Tom and Carol were friendly but gave us privacy to enjoy a quiet stay. The guest house itself was an absolute delight! They really put a lot of effort and attention into creating a restful and spa-like retreat. Beautiful interior design, lots of negative space, lovely sitting, eating and study spaces. The kitchen and bathroom far exceeded expectations! We look forward to coming back.

Gloriously private without feeling secluded, this charming guesthouse has been totally updated in 2019. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Go for a walk on the 28 plus acres or pretty rural lanes. 2 miles away is Lake Robertson for activities . Sit on the porch too! On a snowy night, enjoy the wd-burning fireplace . (We will leave fireplace prepared to light. Gas heating also). Get cozy with the full kitchen, washer/dryer, games and books. DirecTv in the living room and bedroom. Breakfast supplies
Super comfortable and brand new luxury King size bed. Let your hosts, Tamara and Greg, know how we may serve you. Bring food to cook in the large kitchen area with full size refrigerator (no dishwasher yet but hopefully soon). Rustic porch with electric grill and small table, as well as seating for four. Enjoy the fire pit as the days turn chilly. In season, there is an outdoor table , chairs and umbrella!
We are out in the countryside 12-15 minutes. You will be entranced by the gorgeous ride along three main streams (once you leave town). As you get closer to the property , cross the steel bridge into another world. Feel as though you have arrived in a new and peaceful land.
  • Tamara's place is fantastic for a secluded getaway. A remote cabin with everything you need. Tamara kindly stocked the refrigerator with everything we could want for breakfast. It's about 15 minutes outside of Lexington with plenty to do in the area.

    Allan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tamaras place was much more than we ever imagined. The fireplace was easy to use and maintain and kept the cabin very toasty! The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable - perfect for a late night movie before turning in. Tamara left us breakfast foods in the fridge and even was kind enough to make a plate of cookies for our arrival! The variety of k-cups for the Keurig were impressive and thoroughly enjoyed. Big house mountain trail is only a 15 minute drive away and offers gorgeous views of the valley below. Be warned though - it is a fairly difficult hike. Overall this cabin is amazing and more than I expected. Very clean and very cozy! I would recommend to anyone. Great value also. Thank you Tamara!

    Matthew2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed in many Airbnbs over the years and I can honestly say Tamara's place is one of the best. The cottage was immaculate, cozy, quiet and fairly secluded. There were so many thoughtful features and amenities which really enhanced our experience–a full kitchen stocked with all the cooking tools you'd ever need, along with bacon, eggs, english muffins, orange juice, milk and cereal for your stay. In preparation for our arrival, Tamara even went so far as to pre-build the fire in the fireplace, turn on space heaters, and drop off fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which were waiting for us when we checked in! There are lots of board games available, DirectTV and plenty of wood to keep the fire going for hours. I highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again sometime soon. Thanks again, Tamara, for your wonderful hospitality!

    Cheryl2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was spotlessly clean. The wood stove was quaint and warmed the cabin completely. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had all the tools you need.

  • Tamaras cottage was very private and cozy. Lots of extra touches and beautiful scenery. Hosts are top notch.

This fully restored 1908 farmhouse has four bedrooms and four baths and is located on a quiet country lane in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains between Roanoke and Lexington. It is convenient to the James River where you can enjoy hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and tubing or simply relaxing.
The Cottage at Springwood is located eight miles north of Buchanan from Interstate 81, exit #168. It is within 45 minute drive to Roanoke, Lexington, Natural Bridge, Blacksburg and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are situated on a rural road and there are no other houses within sight of the house, so it is very quiet and relaxing. Dribble Creek runs through the side yard, adding to the country atmosphere. There are upper and lower front porches and a patio at the rear of the house for enjoying the beautiful surroundings. It is not unusual to see deer or wild turkey in the yard. The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen with an eating area, one bedroom with twin beds and two bathrooms. The washer and dryer are also located on the first floor. The second floor has a TV/sitting room, master suite with king size bed and private bath with shower and jacuzzi, one bedroom with a double bed and adjoining bath and a third bedroom with twin beds and access to a bath across the hall. There are front and back staircases which make for easy going between floors.
Secluded. We live in the country because we love the peace and quiet that it offers. There are several vineyards, museums, antique stores, a movie theater in Buchanan (only open certain nights) and the James River that provide activities while you're in the area. We host families for graduation at our local colleges-Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, Roanoke College, Hollins and Virginia Tech.

  • The Cottage at Springwood was perfect for our family to meet up for an early Thanksgiving. Everything we needed to cook with and store leftovers was provided. The beds were comfortable, and the fireplace was perfect for sitting in front of while playing family games. The teens loved exploring the surrounding woods (hosts told us to be careful, it's hunting season! Good advice!) Turkeys and deer visited the yard, so charming. This was the perfect quiet retreat!

  • This was a great location for our family to stay. The home is charming and had extra personal touches. We had plenty of space for the six of use to relax and visit. Jack and Tanicia were prompt in communication. Beds were comfortable.

From your cottage you can see the Blue Ridge parkway and the valley below. Spring and Fall views are spectacular. Summer views offer folliage delights. Savor the mountain with its fresh air, natural landscapes and everlasting scenery. Watch the hawks soar, see the deer grazing from your deck. Many opportunities for hiking, visiting wineries, antiquing, lake activities and dining in Bedford, Roanoke, Lynchburg and Smith Mountain Lake.
This cabin has a peaceful environment. It has an unusual four-peak roof which forms a star in the center of the cottage ceiling. Great place for relaxing, writing, contemplation, yoga and getting in touch with your inner joys again. Sunsets are spectacular, set against the Blue Ridge mountain backdrop. Star-gazing is a delight. The hawk migrant route is right overhead. Fantastic place to watch birds. Everything is here for you so you can walk in and immediately feel at home. This is a self-catering home designed for a maximum of two people. It has a fully equipped kitchen, all linens, paper products, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, creamer, pancake mix and oatmeal. Condiments include: sryup, ketchup, mustard, jelly, worsestershire and spices. A gas grill is provided on the deck along with a wrought iron table, cushioned chairs, a rocking settee and umbrella. Snuggle up in the queen bed with a pretty view off the private deck. The loft den has an electric cast-iron fireplace, chaise lounge with matching wing chair, a comfy overstuffed chair to sink into as well as a large pretty desk. There is a library of books, lots of movies, love seat, flat screen TV, and VHS/DVD player in the living room area. If you need to communicate with the outside world, most cell phones and internet devices work fine. The desk has a multi-plug-in strip for all your gadgets. Wifi is not provided. For guests who may have pet allergies: There have never been any pets in this house. We have a no pet policy. For guests who may have limited capacities: All door openings are 36" wide. Must go up one step from the driveway to the front door. The living room (incuding TV, VCR/DVD entertainment center), dining area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are all on the first floor. The den loft is on the second floor which requires being able to climb steps. The cottage is on a State maintained winding gravel road. We are 12 miles from Bedford, 14 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 22 miles from Roanoke, 32 miles from Salem, 42 miles from Lynchburg and Smith Mountain Lake.
What we love about this mountain is that it is rather remote. Our closest neighbor is about one mile away. Yet, we are only 3.4 miles from the four-lane highway, Route 460/221. You have the best of both worlds. Solitude and city life—if you wish. You can be downtown in Roanoke within 35 minutes drive. (it takes 12 minutes to drive up the mountain on a narrow, winding road). Having lived here 31 years, we still have never tired of the mountain beauty and sereneness.
  • Paula’s space was perfect for our stay. Plenty of things to do and a cute little space to spend time. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a weekend getaway.

  • We had a great time! Views from the porch were incredible, the cottage was clean and very comfortable.

  • This is a wonderfully hosted property that is magnificent, beautiful, and remote. If you are looking for a lovely view of the Blue Ridge, this is it. That said, it's only a short drive from the property to lots of great places to go, things to see, etc. We simply loved it. But what really makes it stand out is the thoughtful attention Paula pays to EVERY detail - all the way down to having an extra iPhone and Android charger, and a large book of brochures & local info. She's a true professional and really goes the extra mile for her guests. She even called to check on us during a wind storm, and gave us great, on-point recommendations on things to do in the area.

    William2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This airbnb is located on a mountain with lovely views. Paula greeted us so warmly and made us feel welcome.

    Martha2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • There’s not enough positive I can say about our experience here. Paula was an amazing host...excellent communication before and during the stay, as well as taking it upon herself to include heartwarming little touches to make our time there extra memorable. The cottage itself is beautiful. The kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry are on the first floor. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessities (including a good supply of coffee!). The bed is very comfortable and you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and stars out the window. The upstairs has an electric fireplace and some comfy chairs offering a quiet place to relax. The wrap around deck has beautiful views through the trees and would be a wonderful place to start and end the day when it’s warm enough. We would highly recommend this place for any couple looking for a quiet romantic getaway in the Roanoke area...five stars isn’t enough for this stay!!!

  • This was a wonderful getaway destination. A nice and cozy space in the Blue Ridge Mountains. How can you beat that?!

  • Paula's cottage is a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. It is close to many interesting things to do, and has wonderful views. If you're lucky you'll get to see the deer that hang out near her property. She is a wonderful host with a clean modern comfortable cottage

  • Paula's place was great for a weekend trip in the Blue Ridge mountains. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage - including a great porch for eating breakfast outside and a fireplace when it got cold at night.

This friendly cottage offers a beautiful view of the mountains and overlooks a working cattle farm (the cows are generally quiet, and certainly fun to look at)! • Excellent space, very close to Natural Bridge! Beautiful views. My kids loved the toys, games, and coloring books available. The kitchen was stocked enough to be able to cook for the family without much trouble. And the hosts left clementines and fresh ground coffee! Highly recommend for families!!

    Kathryn2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect country getaway. It is clean and cozy. The owners were very hospitable and promptly answered all of our questions before and during our trip. Erin even called to make sure I was getting all the informational messages she was sending when I hadn’t replied. L They provided bagels, cream cheese, juice and coffee for our stay. I was really touched by the handwritten note welcoming us to the cottage and letting us know to make ourselves at home and that they had freshly ground the coffee for our stay. So sweet! The Mountain View’s from the back balcony were beautiful and seeing the cows graze on the hills was fun. This place is very conveniently located near the natural bridge state park, the zoo, and the safari park. We ate at the pink Cadillac diner and visited the safari park and it was awesome! Our family cooked meals in the well stocked kitchen and played games in the spacious dining and living area. The bedrooms were cute and comfortable. It definitely felt homey. We loved staying here and will definitely book here again!

  • This place is everything advertised and more! Clean, comfy, relaxing, and fun. Carole is a great host too!

    Nathan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Carole’s farm is awesome. Our dog enjoyed staring out the window at all the animals in the area, while driving the nice road up to her home . My week stay here was super comfortable with my partner and dog. Lexington is an easy drive for the grocery store, and many really good eating places around. I’m gonna miss the place, but I think my dog is really going to miss running around getting those good smells and sniffing the horses.

    Charlie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • You won’t be disappointed with a stay at Treasure Cottage. The home offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. I was able to bring our little dog and this afforded me the opportunity to discover the pretty trails and woods on Carole’s property. Carole was a thoughtful host and I enjoyed chatting with her while she fed her horses. The area of Natural Bridge is beautiful and the State Park is absolutely worth a visit. Don’t miss Natural Bridge Caverns - off season was a plus as our guided tour included just three of us! Wonderful restaurants and shops in Lexington are worth the 15 mile drive!

    Jackie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Carole’s place is great! Only a few miles from Natural Bridge State Park. Her cottage is like a little nature escape itself. My friend brought her dog, and we were able to let her roam around the property without worry. Carole has horses, and well kept property, as well as trails to explore. It’s also well situated to a number of fun hikes. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area!

    Leila2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay. Great location and plenty of room for all outdoor activities. Very pet friendly. Carole is an amazing host with great communication and local knowledge. This place offers way more than a place to sleep.

  • Comfortable, secluded, with all the creature comforts of home. Without hesitation, we would stay again.

  • So great! Most beautiful and peaceful spot ever !

    Renee2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love with the cottage's charm and immediately felt at home with its thoughtful touches. Carole is nearby if you need her, but you have all the privacy you want. The location is great for various interests. It is in the middle of farm country, with short drives to Blue Ridge for hiking, wineries & breweries, country stores and Natural Bridge Park. The cottage had all the conveniences of home, such as USB charge ports, plenty of DVDs and consistent wifi. The cottage has a nice little patio with chairs. It was cold during our stay, so we kept cozy inside. The dog was super happy. We will definitely visit again. Thank you, Carole!

This is a very nice second floor apartment next to The Historic Masonic Theatre in the center of Clifton Forge. The building is built above Smith Creek and the comforting sound will lull you to sleep at night. The mattresses are comfy pillow tops and we have plenty of seating. You will be within walking distance of many restaurants and stores. Unfortunately this listing is not handicapped accessible due to the stairs and if you have any allergies be aware we allow guests to have dogs.
The apartment is light and airy, the kitchen is cozy and functional with new appliances. There is only one small bathroom. The door to the entrance room is glass and opens to the stairway but the rest of the building is vacant.
The apartment is located on Main Street right in an old building in the downtown. Not only is the Historic Masonic Theatre directly next door you are within walking distance of many fine restaurants, antique stores, art galleries and the Amtrak Station! Also we have a brewery in town and many wineries and breweries abound within an hours drive.
  • Shauna's spot is a great find, it's in a very convenient spot, you can walk to a great pub, Jack Mason's, and the actual tasting room two doors down. The space has everything you could possible need for cooking, and the bed is super comfy. There are stairs to get to the cozy apartment, but that is in the description. Excellent price for such a great location. Close to Douthat park too

Rustic cottage on scenic Craig Creek in Botetourt County Virginia. Great views, hot tub, and solitude. The cabin is right on the creek and has been underwater several times in floods. It is made of concrete block that is rough textured and some folk feel like it's not clean. It is a bit rustic and sometimes we have mice and cobwebs. If that sort of thing bothers you, this might not be the best choice!
  • Lovely creek side location, plenty warm and all of the necessities were there. They even had a booster/infant seat . We enjoyed the tranquility and the jacuzzi is an added bonus! We spent Thanksgiving there and the kitchen had everything we needed to make a great meal. The description was accurate- the water is pretty smelly and the cabin is a bit run down but comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

    Kari2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Love the location on the river!

    Janita2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic cabin worked well for our group of guys. Enjoyed the property and nearby hiking. Listing is 100% accurate and forthcoming, so adjust expectations accordingly.

    John2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Where do we begin! My wife and I live in Virginia Beach and chose the Cabin on Craig Creek as our getaway for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I’ll start by saying it completely exceeded our expectations! When you’re getting closer to the cabin driving through the winding roads it starts to get real. With the fall colors it was beautiful. We arrived at the cabin right in schedule for checkin. It a AWESOME! Right in the creek, mountain in the background and little traffic going by. It is peace and serenity. I enjoyed some fly fishing while my wife enjoyed the hammock. Didn’t catch much because my dog was right by my side trying to fish himself lol. Huck is a great host, answering immediately any questions I had, (just needed a little help getting the gas logs lit). The cabin itself is just as we expected; A CABIN. It’s not a resort, it’s not 4-5 stars, it is a mountain getaway not only for us, but for Huck to. It goes a month or more with no one coming in. What you see is what you get. Everything works, everything is clean, and it gives you that cozy feeling. We loved the views we got to wake up to, the heron walking through the creek fishing right outside the windows. My recommendation is to not look any further, and book with Huck !! If you do, just be mindful that it is isolated. There is a gas station/market about 10 mins away, but the closest grocery store is about 25-30 mins. We planned ahead and brought all of our groceries and everything when we came so we didn’t have to go get anything once we were there. The cabin is from peace and quiet , some time with Mother Nature and for one another. It was a short 1.5 miles from Roaring Run furnace and water falls. Awesome nice hike. When we want to go to the mountains again this is where we will be booking. No need to look anywhere else. You won’t find better, and if you do it’ll be double the price. Can’t wait to go back!

    Raymond2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Huck’s place. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay (kitchen appliances, linens, towels, etc). It was next to a relaxing river. It had a hot tub, hammock, outdoor sitting area, grill, and a fire pit. Plenty of games. The water had a strong sulfur smell, but we knew that going into it. It didn’t bother us. He had plenty of drinking/cooking water, if you didn’t want to use the facet water. We would definitely stay at Huck’s place again.

    Mary2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful! I cannot say it enough this place is much more beautiful in person the home is rustic S stated but at the same time has homey touches 100% recommend this air BNB to anyone my mother do I brought here for her birthday already has plans for the whole family to return because of the ample amount of space and sleeping areas

    Michelle2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at Huck's cabin. I had my coffee each morning by the creek and most mornings got to see the heron who frequents it. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit and just soaked in the beauty of the area. It was so nice to bring my dog on his first pack adventure. If you are inclined for hikes, do check out the falls at Jefferson National, literally 4 minutes away by car. A great BBQ place called Rollers just opened in Iron Gate, which is about 20 minutes away, their pulled pork is amazing. There is also Twinks 220 Diner which is a good little place also. They make an awesome sweet tea, very nice ladies. The area is rural and beautiful. We found it to be deeply relaxing and everyone we encountered to be very pleasant, including Huck. We would definitely return to the area and stay at Huck's again.

    Jessica2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • My Family loved staying at the cabin by the creek in Eagle Rock. The kids floated in the creek, roasted marshmallows by the camp fire, played in the Hot Tub and overall had a great time. We are already talking about the next time we get to travel to Virginia and how we want to stay in the same place.

  • We just spent a wonderful weekend at Jim’s Graham’s Ordinary. The way they are renovating the building is so cool and the full wall of windows to enjoy the view is perfect. The self serve, fully stocked kitchenette was great for grabbing a bite and heading out to explore. The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Claytor Nature Center are just minutes away for outdoor exploring and Bedford with its museums and antiques kept us busy when it rained in the afternoon Jim was just an email away with any questions we had before arriving and very helpful with ideas for things to do in the area It was just a perfect weekend.

  • What an awesome trip! My wife and I spent our 1 year anniversary at the lodge which meant the bar was set high to make it special. The place exceeded our expectations! Beautiful view from the bed with the large windows looking out over the valley. Very cozy and romantic place. The host, Jim, was very helpful, responsive and knowledgeable about the historic property. Highly recommend the Graham Ordinary Lodge for a romantic, scenic retreat!!!

  • It was a great stay here. The place is really clean and cozy and full of whatever one might need. For sure, we will stay here again if we want to travel to this area again. I suggest it to anybody who is looking to stay at this area.

  • Lovely and cozy home right on the Jackson River, we will have to come back when the weather is warmer to take advantage of all the river has to offer! Great space on the back porch for my son to escape from his sisters and he loved sleeping back there. My daughter enjoyed sleeping on the couch and having a TV to watch to get to sleep. Our 2 other girls had their private oasis in one of the King bedrooms, and my partner and I enjoyed the other King bedroom. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, nice layout in the common areas that made everyone feel comfortable. Thank you for a lovely stay while we visited local friends and family for the holidays!

  • Expect a lovely stay complete with king beds, campfires, and a calming river. Fantastic little house in a perfect valley

    Stephanie2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect especially for 2 couples. Each bedroom had a private bathroom. The kitchen was fully stocked to handle any kind of cooking and the open floor plan allowed for everyone to be able to talk and prepare meals together. Listening to the river flow by was music to fall asleep to. We kayaked right up to the house. We also visited lake moomaw and kayaked and did some fishing. Great outdoor recreation area. Will definitely be back. This house is a 10+.

    Karen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very roomy with each bedroom the size of a hotel. Amazing sounds of the river greeted us. We arrived after sunset and found everything we needed to start a cozy fire and watch the moonlight on the water. Visited Humpback bridge and Falling Spring Falls. Each carry out serving at Michael's was enough for two. Thanks for the local tips and all the detailed amenities! Highly recommend!

  • Kit & David's cottage was everything we wanted and more. We were able to bring our two dogs along and have a quiet and relaxing long weekend with no agenda. The home is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and tools you need to cook your meals. We really enjoyed dining out on the screened patio and getting to have a fire by the river. We never left the property during our stay because we were able to get enough walking and exploring in. We truly look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Kit & David!

    Kristina2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect home for a restful recharge. The on-site trails, wildlife, and beautiful farmland were great. Comfortable and very clean accommodations. Close to area attractions if you choose to venture out.

    Janice2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience staying at David and Kit’s AirBnB. The house is very clean and comfortably furnished. The location is beautiful and offers a private, quiet stay for those who are looking for a break. We would recommend this to place to anyone traveling in the Clifton Forge, VA, area.

  • A lovely stay in a beautiful spot! Quaint and personable touches throughout the house. We hope to come back!

    Nicholas2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second trip to the farm. House is always clean and tidy. River was clear and weather was perfect. Hosts left us fresh tomatoes from their garden and a watermelon. Lovely farm setting and a great place to relax. Highly recommend.

    Amy2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect weekend staying at David's place for the Labor Day holiday. If you like fishing, floating the beautiful Cowpasture River, and enjoying happy hour on the screened-in porch, book David's spot right now! David and Kit were so accommodating even providing homegrown tomatoes and fruit when we checked in. This is a perfect outdoors getaway, and would recommend supplying yourself for the whole weekend with groceries and libations since you won't want to leave!

    Cassady2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly 5 stars across the board. My sons and I stayed at David's cottage for nearly a week and did not want to leave. A+ on personal touches, communication, cleanliness, amenities and all the extras. The river floats in our kayaks were amazing everyday, and soo close to many different river areas. The farm is also beautiful with lots of wildlife, the stars at night were breathtaking. Wifi works well, if necessary, but if you want to get away from the tv and enjoy nature, you cant go wrong here. David is super knowledgable about the area and only a quick text or call away, he was more than happy to assist in any way. Highly recommended, just dont book the weeks we plan to go back! :)

    Scott2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, comfortable, inviting house set in a beautiful setting that was perfect for hiking, walking, picnicking, and floats on the river. Screened porch facing the river was a favorite place to relax. Hosts went far beyond expected to make our stay memorable.

Nice, quiet semi-forested area. 10 minute drive from Roanoke/Blacksburg regional airport. I need to forewarn you that the driveway has a 10% grade. If it's icy or snowing it's damn near impossible to drive up the driveway. Air mattress for two more people.
To me it's just a cool place. It's listed as Plantetation Acres on (I think) Google.
  • Joel is a wonderful host and very attentive to his guests. Apartment and the setting are lovely.

    Karen2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time! It was private, cozy, clean. Such a beautiful home!! We are definitely planning to book again! Joel is awesome!

    Mily2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Joel met us in person and gave us a tour of the apt. He told us to contact him if we needed anything as he was just next door. The apt was amazing and large with comfortable furniture and bed, fully equipped kitchen with extras for breakfast, ie, water bottles, coffee or hot chocolate, cereal, pop tarts, milk, etc. The bath had extras like shampoo, hand lotion, tooth brushes and paste, and the towels were plush. The property was secluded and beautiful. Joel and his wife have 3 dachshunds that were secured and only barked a little upon our arrival. Never heard them again. We had a private entrance to the upstairs apt with our own key. The place was fantastic.

Located on a country road dotted with lots of old farmhouses. Your hosts are here to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Walk back in time when you enter this home built in 1881. The old charm remains, but renovations have made the home very comfortable. Your room is located in a private wing you will have all to yourself. The property is on 10 acres available for you to wander. A great front porch with a swing and rocking chairs or a side patio for sitting and watching the birds.
Our old farmhouse has 10 rooms and you will have access to the kitchen and dining room as well as sitting areas in the home. All rooms are large and comfortable.
Our home is located near interstate 81, so it is an easy pop off and pop back on again. We are near hiking trails as well as the James River (where people love to kayak).

Come back home to Grandma's country farm house. Quiet and relaxing. We are located 2 miles from House Mountain Inn and 6 miles from beautiful Lake Robertson, with a public pool, and miles of hiking. 15 miles from Historic Lexington, home of VMI and W&L University and one of the last functioning drive in theaters (Hull's Drive In). It's a quick hop down 81 to Natural Bridge State Park.
  • This is the best airbnb I have stayed at so far! They are extremely thoughtful of their guests. The food that they provided us was so sweet of them. They have great communication with guests. The explanation/directions of how to get to the house were spot on!

    Katelynn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. There is a stream in the front which is so relaxing to sit and listen to. You do not have good Cell phone connection, but there is a house phone available.

  • Grandma’s Country House was everything we needed for a weekend away. It’s location is superb for anyone visiting The House Mountain Inn or Irvine Estate. The house is quaint, clean, and full of thoughtful extras like bottled water, muffins, extra comfy blankets, and extra toiletries. Margaret was beyond a fantastic host! Great at communicating all the details and any issues, as well as going out of her way to get a menu for a local breakfast spot. Even went the extra mile to leave flowers and a Happy Birthday balloon for our visit! We would absolutely stay again if in the area.

    Paige2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a simple and relaxing night here as we were passing through and needed a place to spend the night. Everything was as described and we appreciated thoughtful touches like coloring books for the kids and water and some snacks and treats.

    Jeremy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage in the forest. We slept well in soft and clean beds. Shower was a bit tricky but Margaret came and helped very quickly. We liked how clutterfree the place was and how the colors went well together.

  • This cabin is a slice of heaven! It’s the perfect little retreat for relaxation with a serene backdrop complete with a waterfall and the sound of rolling water at every window. No detail has been missed or comfort spared. You will never want to leave...we sure didn’t! :). Rhonda and Jeff were the most hospitable hosts I’ve ever had with Airbnb and we can’t say enough how lucky we feel to have found them and this little treasure. We will definitely be back!

    Heather2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent the weekend at Rocreek cabin and had such an amazing, relaxing, and fun weekend. From completing puzzles by the fireplace, fishing in the pond, and enjoying the fresh homemade coffee cake left for us by Rhonda, we could not have asked for a better mini babymoon! The attention to detail was above par and made it that much more enjoyable. We are very thankful to have been able to enjoy this little piece of paradise! Thank you for everything!!

    Donna2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • It's an amazing spot and one of the best Airbnb places and experiences my husband and I had. The cabin is designed very tastefully and it's sparkling clean. The back porch was the best as it overlooks the creek. Rhonda and her husband were amazing hosts! We recommend a visit to their cabin!

    Emiliya2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We found exceptional attention to detail and agree it's the most wonderful and relaxing Airbnb experience we've ever had. Each room is cozy and welcoming. We had a great time as a family playing games in front of the fireplace. The creek and the waterfall are so relaxing. We got to Peaks of Otter easily and quickly to be able to enjoy a few hikes for the days we were there. Peaks of Otter and Blue Ridge Parkway were minutes away. It was a great "home base" for hiking. We can't say enough good things about it. We'll certainly be back.

  • Amy's place was perfect for a weekend getaway! My girlfriends and I spent Valentine's Day weekend here and had a great time. There is hardly any service for Verizon or AT&T so keep that in mind (no wifi) but the views were amazing and it was the coziest house for a weekend trip. We locked ourselves out one morning and Amy's husband let us in within minutes. Great communication, definitely recommend!

    Natalie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cottage is a perfect place to get away and enjoy beautiful scenery and fresh air! We had a romantic weekend getaway for two, but there was plenty of space to bring the kiddos along for the next time. The deck offers panoramic views of beautiful mountains and pastures. We enjoyed so many peaceful moments relaxing on the deck both at night, looking up at the clear starry skies and during the day, as we watched the horses graze and listened to the birds chirping. Amy’s place was equipped with everything we needed from dishes to bathroom amenities, condiments, coffee, board games, a few dvds and even a table top fire pit outside. We would love to come again and would recommend this cottage to everyone.

    Louchavel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem. Believe me, we are heavy users of AirBnB, but Amy’s Hop Hills Cottage at Glasgow is really outstanding. The cottage is new and well maintained. Kitchen is also well equipped and allowed us to cook full family dinners. Bathroom is spacious. The view of rolling hills and pastures are superb. It is located in a very safe area without a need to lock doors. The drive-up is convenient via Google Map. Hosts are super friendly, so is their lovely dog. There is indeed no wifi, which the host is working on to add in near future, but this has been a real blessing for more quality family time to watch DVD or play board games, that are stocked in the cottage. We will definitely come back to enjoy different seasons.

    Jiong2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is super cool. It's a bit off the beaten path, but doesn't take long to get there. The cabin is nice and modern, clean, very easy to stay in. The views are beautiful and the surrounding areas are awesome. It's reasonably close to the parkway, Lexington, and several interesting attractions. We got rained out most of the weekend but still had an enjoyable time hanging out in the cabin and watching the storms roll through.

    Aaron2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best weekends my boyfriend and I have had. The property and cottage are beautiful and so peaceful. The hosts took time to show us the property and interact with the horses. They also provide good suggestions of places to eat and explore. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend for all ages.

  • From the outside, this is an unassuming house on a country road near Bedford; but when you come up the walk, there's a welcoming vestibule, I hen through the front door to stylish warmth, well-considered touches such as wine and communal seating area and surprising sense of spaciousness from the high ceilings. Real people live here, and you can share their space without feeling on top of them. I love ample breakfast in the sun room.

  • Nancy was so welcoming and kind. She made a delicious breakfast with lots of fresh local ingredients including potatoes from her own garden. Her house is just a short drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway so a perfect stop on our driving trip. Highly recommend this lovely cosy place!

  • I couldn’t imagine a better place to visit! It’s clear that Nancy loves sharing her beautiful space and from the moment we stepped on to the property my partner and I felt so welcomed. Sometimes sharing a space can feel awkward, but with Nancy it felt like an intuitive dance where we had both freedom and company when we wanted it. We drifted into a very restful sleep to the sounds of the creek and the crickets and woke up (many many hours later) to the smell of Nancy’s FANTASTIC farm fresh breakfast. Nancy is incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and can tell you about all of the beautiful plants that grow on her serene property or the best places to hike. She is a wealth of information! I can’t totally put it into words, but there was something so healing and restorative about being there. Nancy also goes above and beyond to help you have the best time. We had a milking experience that we had booked with air bnb and it ended up getting canceled. I reached out asking if Nancy knew of anyone and she was able to find a farm that would let us milk their cows. I can’t say enough positive things about this wonderful place and human! Do yourself a favor and visit Sister Nettle and experience it for yourself!

  • My girlfriend and I spent a wonderful weekend at Sister Nettle B&B in October, just as the leaves were beginning to turn. We ended up hiking Peaks of Otter and a little bit of the Appalachian Trail, both of which are within easy driving distance. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also readily accessible. We would highly recommend both the property and the hosts. The cottage itself is lovely and well-maintained, and even has reasonably fast satellite wifi. Nancy and Jeff are kind and generous hosts who make it a joy to stay with them. Every morning, they lay out a scrumptious, organic breakfast spread easily comparable to any restaurant's offering. We simply can't say enough good things about Sister Nettle, and we'll definitely be back in the future for another visit.

  • Absolutely wonderfully comfortable and restful home. Nancy and Jeff go out of their way as great hosts. Definitely would stay again.

  • Nancy’s place was WONDERFUL!! My husband and I so enjoyed her adorable home and the beautiful vistas in the back yard and on our drive out. She is so incredibly kind and everything was very clean, which I loved! The bed was comfy and you can adjust your own temperature which is perfect. Her breakfast was super delicious as well. I can’t say enough nice things about Nancy and her place!

Contemporary Home with an incredible view from your room . The household is very peaceful and quiet, with as many amenities as we could possibly have for you. Make your Lexington trip a mini-vacation. Our goal is to treat you to such an exquisite stay that you will be eager to come back again and again! Enjoy your private area, with control of A/C and heating, and private bathroom. Heated dual bed controllers, Wi-fi and DIrecTv with movie channels. Full use of kitchen.
The drive is 15 minutes or so outside of Lexington and is incredibly beautiful. Meander on country roads alongside several streams and breathe in the beauty. Some places are a bit rough (gravel road toward the end) but we KNOW you will be delighted upon arrival. The home is brand new, and thus you will see a few minor unfinished details, such as downstairs baseboard. Your hosts, Tamara & Greg will endeavor to make you super comfortable! We have 28 acres to take a quiet walk. Enjoy the wildlife from the front porch (rabbits, wild turkeys, deer, and the occasional bear). Make yourselves something yummy to eat in the bright gourmet kitchen.
The area has unlimited beauty to enjoy, either from the porch, a walk on the property or one of the roads nearby. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a reasonable drive away, as is Lexington, Buena Vista and Glasgow. Right around the corner ( about 2 miles) is Lake Robertson and the many amenities.
  • Talk about Southern Hospitality! We stayed overnight with our dog at Tamara's on Christmas night. The house is beautiful and recently finished by Tamara and Greg for whom it has been a labor of love. When we arrived they had a whole buffet of Christmas dinner left overs for us. The upstairs is dedicated to airbnb and has every ammenity imaginable. Bottled water, tea, coffee and cookies in the room. Individual temperature controls, a king sized bed, and bed warmers. The whole house was spotlessly clean and was immaculately appointed. In the morning we had a huge breakfast and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the valley.

  • Our stay was wonderful. It's a short drive to town but well worth it.

  • We have been traveling for over a month and have stayed in 12 Airbnbs. Our stay with Tamara was our favorite experience by far! Tamara and Greg truly have a love for hosting. We felt welcome not just in our room but in the whole house. The view was second to none, and our heated bed was extremely comfortable. Their mini dachshund Jed is the friendliest dog you will ever meet! Overall a wonderful stay, and we hope to visit again!

    Mitch2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best airbnb ever! If you have the chance to het here, take it! We had such a great time here. Everything was just wonderful. Great people with cute doggy and a big heart. If we could we would give more than 5 Stars. By far the best airbnb!

    Lena2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend. Tamara goes out of her way to make you comfortable and welcome; very generous, kind, helpful, sweet and caring. I felt very much at home.

    Pamela2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Tamaras house is the perfect getaway. The view from from every house in the room is gorgeous. She did so many small above and beyond things that made the stay just that much better. She let us have full use of the kitchen and even provided breakfast in the morning! Can’t wait to come back

  • I came to town to work at the paper mill and could not get any closer to work. It’s a perfect place to stay. Quiet Neighborhood and a peaceful home way from home.

  • This is one of the most delightful airbnb homes I've stayed in. If you enjoy early twentieth century architecture and furnishings, beautiful wood interiors, sliding doors, mantles, etc, this is a treasure. The bonus ...the walls displayed many beautiful quilts made by the owner. A comfortable room and good company, very welcoming! William also has an apartment in the basement if you need more space.

Welcome to country life. Put some distance between your family and this COVid-19 world.
Special note on why this is a COVid free haven for you and your family. First, we are now controlling bookings such that no prior renter will be in the property for at least three days prior to your arrival without your knowledge. According to the CDC this alone is sufficient to ensure the property is virus free. Second, we have a meticulous cleaning policy as we are just as concerned as you are about the situation. Third, there are no other homes within hundreds of yards of the house and you will be in a sparsely populated area with pristine mountain views and country air and very low local incidence of infection compared to other areas of the country. You will not have to deal with large crowds at grocery stores or other places you must go. Finally while you can hunker down and ride out the storm you will not be isolated. You will have reliable internet so your tech will work and access to the regions best medical facilities with 30 minutes of the front door. We recommend this property to anyone wishing increase your loved ones odds of not contracting Covid-19. Enjoy the wonderful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from every room on the back of the house. The million dollar view is truly something to behold! This home is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and furry well-behaved friends (with prior approval). Please note that this home is part of a working horse farm. While the horses themselves are in adjacent pastures and *not* to be petted, guests can enjoy the amazing tranquility of the views while enjoying the convenience to the interstate and many nearby attractions. Business travelers: note that this location is about 10 minutes away from the many new businesses in "Greenfield at Botetourt". If you are interested in a longer-term rental (>30 days), please contact us to discuss pricing options.
We have found that this home is loved by families looking to reunite from far away places, as well as adventurers, business travelers and couples looking for weekend getaways. The home has been described as "walking into a hug", and we work hard to maintain that comfortable home-away-from-home feel for our guests. We love this farm, and have found that we love sharing the joy of being there with others. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! As we've mentioned, one of the best things about our location is the convenience to the interstate. No sitting through multiple stoplights...1.3 miles and you are right on Interstate 81 with easy access to anywhere you want to go. Although, once you see the view, you may just want to stay :) For adventurers, we are close to several trailheads for the Appalachian Trail, as well as the Botetourt Sports Complex (at Greenfield) and related trails. For those looking to meander through quaint small towns, the downtown areas of the towns of Fincastle and Buchanan are 10-15 minutes away. Or if you just want to relax, sit back, and feel far away from everything while still being close to anything, this is the place for you :)
  • Great place to relax and take in the gorgeous Virginia countryside. We loved our stay! Super clean, comfortable and gorgeous scenery.

    Kimberly2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, warm, and clean house with plenty of space to stay and spread out. Beautiful sunrise and sunset views of the mountains! I'd gladly stay here again!!

  • We had a great, comfortable stay at Teri's and Paul's place! Very clean and welcoming. Great views and hikes in the surrounding area. Peaceful solitude. As our stay was over the holidays, the host provided lovely Christmas decorations! There were two separate TV viewing locations- great for a family with conflicting tastes. The Roku TV offered a great variety of choices- we became attached to the great British baking show over our stay. :) We appreciated the pet amenities as well- our dog felt right at home. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed for our holiday cooking and baking. There are a lot of great hikes in the surrounding area with some great views, along with the beautiful vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We enjoyed sunset and sunrises from the window, along with watching the horses and pig! Thanks, The Morgans

    David2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a wonderful place. Teri’s home is beautifully decorated, the kitchen is well equipped, bed was comfortable, very dog friendly and wonderful setting. It was so comfortable, with awesome views of the horses, mountains and sunsets. We felt like we were staying at a friend’s home, can’t beat that! Looking forward to coming back!

    Kathi2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to spend with family. The view of mountains and horses is breathtaking. We would love to go again if in the area.

    Jackie2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Teri’s place was amazing! She was extremely responsive and the location is perfect for local hikes. Will absolutely stay there again!

    Elizabeth2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Teri’s home exceeded mine and my family’s expectations. We were blown away by the view from the back deck and felt very at home. There was enough space for 5 of us to stay very comfortably. We felt like we had to brag to everyone how beautiful the horse farm we were staying on was. Teri was super responsive and had an answer for anything! We’re already planning a trip back for later in the fall.
