  • We had such a wonderful weekend away at Emmies place, she was quick to respond to messages and the house was absolutely lovely and has a great energy and is tucked away amongst the old gum trees of the area. Would definitely stay again!

  • We had such an incredible stay here - the house is so beautiful and spacious, really comfy beds, 3 bathrooms which is perfect for a larger group and the garden and surroundings are just breath-taking.

  • Magic place! Our group ranged in age from 1 - 92 years and we all had a fantastic time. The house was full of space and character, with something for everyone. The garden and outdoor spaces were beautiful. Definitely recommend for large groups

  • Emmie is a great host, very accommodating and has a great house! Just a very beautiful property inside and out for a relaxing getaway! Will head back for sure!

  • What an amazing, secluded piece of the Otways to stay at. We stayed with our 2 children (12 and 6), who thoroughly enjoyed the visiting camels, cows and kookaburras. It took us a while to truly appreciate just how spacious the house and grounds are. We were all very sad when it was time to leave, so I would recommend at least a week stay.

    Megan2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay, great for adults and kids alike. Would certainly stay here again... kids loved walking around meeting the animals, exploring the creek and walking on fallen trees.

  • A beautiful restful spot and a perfect getaway for people and dogs. We walked along surrounding roads and relaxed on the big deck in the sun. Absolutely beautiful setting.

  • Great place to stay.. tranquillity is the only way to describe this place.. Soo peaceful and quiet.. Saw a family of kangaroos twice.. lots of forestry walks.. Just superb!!! Thank you for your hospitality Michael 😀

  • 4 of us stayed at the Dairy and had a fantastic time. The fire was great for the winter nights and the house is very comfortable and stylish. Great location for some walks during the day too. Would highly recommend.

  • This place is very secluded and great for that quick winter getaway! This charming barn has been converted into a modern and comfortable retreat with a lovely warm fireplace and split system heating throughout. You really are in the ‘sticks’ here - we saw a group of young kangaroos out the back one morning!

    Vivian2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend!!! An Absolutely magical place to stay. Thanks Michael for ensuring a wonderful break for our family in a truly beautiful location. We can’t wait to return. It was just beautiful

  • We loved our stay at Otway Dairy. It is well set-up for a relaxing stay. Just the right amount of getting away from it all and things to do in the area. Thank you for responding to my email too. Tracey

  • Don’t let the rustic little cottage fool you, Michaels place is a cosy, cute and modern stay with all the creature comforts for a family of 5. We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Dairy, the cottage is set on a large property, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, and central to all major attraction. Michael was very thorough and gave us very detailed info about how to get there, access to the property and things to do around the area. Highly enjoyed our long weekend and would recommend Michaels place to everyone.

    Dianne2019-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Michael's place. The property was spacious enough for our group of 6 and everyone had a great time. The house was very clean, beds and sofa bed were all very comfy, great amenities, and the house had plenty of linens/towels to spare. Michael was very quick at responding to our messages/phone calls as we had an issue with the gate padlock upon checking in, and Michael did everything he could to help us. Only downside (not Michael's fault) would be that the Wifi at the accommodation was not working for the 3 days we were there (despite restarting the modem/router) -- probably would not have been an issue if the place had any reception, but we survived! Overall, a 5 out of 5-star stay and we would definitely return if we're ever in the area again.

We offer self contained accommodation on our property in the Carlisle River Valley behind the busy tourist route between Lavers Hill and Port Campbell. Enjoy spacious and private surrounds, the stars at night and bird life by day in this tranquil setting. During your stay, you are welcome to explore the large surrounding garden created over the last 30 years by your hosts. This accommodation is offered to adults only.
This location offers valley views, an extensive private garden you are welcome to share and a family enthusiastic to welcome visitors from afar. We love to explain the best experiences the Otways have to offer including waterfalls and rainforests as well as the Shipwreck Coast and the Great Ocean Road. The accommodation is 40 minutes drive from the Great Ocean Road near the 12 Apostles. Enjoy space, peace, a riverside location, wonderful bird life an easy day trip from the coast. We open our property to share its loveliness but also to meet interesting people leading different lives to own. We like to meet and settle you in but we want you to enjoy your privacy while we go about our own routines.
Carlisle River is surrounded by State Forest, resident to a rich variety of flora and fauna including wallabies, echidnas and many bird species. Streams and rivers flow through the valley which is farmed for dairying. Towns in close proximity include Gellibrand and Lavers Hill. The Gellibrand River estuary off the Great Ocean Road is a little known and beautiful place to explore. Triplet Falls at Beech Forest offers one of our favourite walks.
  • Had an Amazing stay. Lisa was a great host and spoiled us with fantastic produce and had spent a lot of time and effort in provided all the little touches to ensure our stay was a memorable one. I would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks we will be staying again.

    Rhys2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot describe how wonderful this place is is. We only had a short amount of time away and Lisa's farm made it feel like we got a week away! Lisa was so lovely at her welcome and even gave us some goodies. She even made me gluten-free desserts and supplied the most beautiful bread. Exploring their beautiful property, most lush plants and wonderfully landscaped. It instantly makes you feel calm. The farm you stay in is beyond beautiful inside. Modern and so well designed. I wanted to live there!!! I turned my phone off and just enjoyed the serenity. It's a bit of a hidden destination but Lisa's notes she provides makes it easy. I felt so spoiled being on such a beautiful little farm and staring off into their beautiful scenery. I will definitely be headed back to show more of my friends. PS. For those wanting to know what to do locally I would do the Gourmet trail if you're looking for some good food to get in the area. The hikes around the area are amazing. But honestly just exploring Lisa's farm was such a special treat!

    Cat2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Get ready for a unique and unforgettable stay. Lisa left lots of thoughtful touches around the place with fresh produce from the farm. We loved the style of the place. We also had a nice meander through the farm and garden (spectacular maintainence for the size!) Thank you Lisa and Pat for such a memorable pre-Christmas experience

    May2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Among our best Air BnBs experiences so far, Lisa's property offers the best of all worlds - spectacular sightings of Kangaroos, Koalas, Possums; grand views of gorgeous green scapes; and the serene calm of forests and fern gullies, just out of the touristy hussle of Port Campbell. If this weren't enough, their Horse Marina and Dog Ollie add extra charm to their thoughtfully designed grand property. Lisa and Pat are fabulous hosts who want to make sure you make the most of your vacation! Their place is all kinds of awesome and I cannot recommend it more! :)

    Pavithra2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • The peaceful forest drive in set the mood for our stay. The accommodation was clean and had everything we needed. Lisa generously shared both her homegrown produce and knowledge of the local area. Even the wild birds in the garden entertained with their antics. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

    Eds2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a wonderful getaway at this beautiful property. The home is modern and Lisa has a great eye for decor. The grounds are gorgeous to wander through with a pond and an array of flowers. It feels remote but isn't far from the 12 apostles, a great spot to explore the area. I'd highly recommend staying here. Lisa was also very thoughtful for my partner's birthday. Thanks again Lisa and Pat

    Katherine2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is an extremely considerate host and provided detailed information for finding the property and exploring the area. We were very warmly welcomed and Lisa had even baked us a tasty dessert for that evening. The cabin is homely, maintained to a great standard and well equipped, especially the kitchen which was stocked with the essentials (and more) and every utensil we needed. The gardens are among the prettiest private ones and well worth a look. Great way to spend a weekend

  • Such a clean comfortable house that was so quiet. We had such a great welcome and really appreciated the food and drink that Selvi left for us. A good base for exploring the Great Ocean road was well as the waterfalls and berry farms nearby. There was so many DVDs and board games, it was a great place for us the stay. Thanks Selvi and Damien!

    Vicky2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great Hospitality. Easy going nature. Peace and quiet. Everything you need. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Peter2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Damien and Selvi's home is quite central to neighboring places on the great ocean road. The house exceeded our expectations as it was very clean, spacious with 2 bathrooms and all the necessities. The garden was just beautiful. We were greeted my Damien who was very friendly and very helpful. It was a pleasure staying here and wind down from everyday stress. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling on the Great Ocean Road.

  • We had a great stay in Selvis place. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped, and the area is nice and calm, surrounded by cows! Communication was smooth, and we were very positively pleased with how quickly they delt with the situation when we at one point had a little trouble with the water. We loved the location, only a short drive away from the 12 apostles and the treetop walk.

    Siri2019-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a wonderful stay at Selvi’s and we could not expect anything more. A short drive from the twelve apostles and this place is set in a surreal farm setting. Thanks for having us.

    Irwin2019-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • It is a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of room for all. It was a perfect family get away and close to triplet falls and lots of other tourist things to see and do.

    Fanel2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Selvi's house is located in a farm with fantastic surroundings and scenary. It's a great place for a group of friends or larger families to get away from city's noise and spend some relaxing time together. There are so many beautiful tracks for bushwaking and waterfalls to see near this place.

  • Big thanks to Hannah & Quinn for letting us stay in their beautiful room on an amazing property. The room was stylish, warm and very cozy, adding a luxurious feel after a long day adventuring in the surrounding forests/waterfalls which are close by, which were also recommended by Hannah after dining at the pub down the road which does great meals. Would definitely stay here again (excited to find an excuse to do so).

Long Tide retreat is a beautiful property, set amongst the trees with breathtaking ocean and forest views. Natural beauty and vast expanse merges with an earthy and tranquil barn style guest house. A truly magical space to rest and retreat from the world.
We are the last property at the end of the street, making for an incredibly tranquil setting. Our stunning property sits at the very end of a 1.5km dirt road, with breathtaking ocean views at the end of our quiet street. We are a gorgeous 10 minutes drive to Skenes Creek Beach, 15 minutes drive to Apollo Bay township & beaches, 60 minutes from Lorne and 25 minutes from the super cute inland town of Forrest. Our property exists within a generous opening amongst the surrounding forest. Our house and the guest house sit separately, 50 or so metres apart, giving you your very own space, but we are here (or not too far away!) if you need us. We are very happy to give you complete privacy and we are also available should you need anything as we live “next door”. The guest house is a unique 2 story + mezzanine barn style house, crafted naturally out of local and recycled timber. It has great energy with a wonderful, cozy, rustic feel. No traffic noise, no other houses nearby, just ours. The accommodation itself is natural, earthy, warm and very comfortable. The building was built chemical free and is so unique with its natural and recycled timbers and textures. The guest house comes with a very spacious living area complete with a luxurious fire place, air conditioning/heating split system; giving you comfortable temperature control no matter what the Otway forest delivers weather wise. The living area upstairs has two comfy couches to spread out on, a big arm chair and a cozy papasan chair in the reading nook. THERE IS NO GUEST WIFI AT LONG TIDE RETREAT as where we live is difficult and unreliable to service with a WIFI connection... but have no fear! We've made up for the lack of WIFI with other fabulous things.... We have heaps of books, magazines, a cupboard full of board games, drawing supplies and puzzles. There is a TV with regular regional TV channels and a blueray DVD player for any movies you may want to watch (current count is 150+ of our favourites on DVD). You can also bring a hard drive to plug into the DVD player to watch your own movies. There's also a Sony portable Bluetooth speaker for you to play your favourite music or podcast. You can access the internet with your smart phone or tablet via your own standard mobile data. The fireplace is magnificent when it's cold outside, and we will provide all the fire wood you need to keep you warm and cosy. Firewood and kindling are located in the downstairs carport and you are free to use what you need during your stay. When the storms roll in, there is nothing better than curling up on the couch by the fire with a book and a cup of tea. Please help yourself to kindling and firewood from the carport downstairs when required. For your convenience the split system AC unit provides instant heat at the touch of a button, to keep you warm before you get the fire going. Adjoining the living space we have a quaint, clean and functional kitchen completely set up with everything you need. Kitchen staples including oil, butter, margarine, salt + pepper, cow's milk, soy milk and almond milk, lots of herbs and spices and some non perishable items in the cupboard are available. If it's in the kitchen, you're free to use it. The fridge/freezer, gas oven, gas cook top and microwave are all high quality updated appliances helping to make it easy to stay in and retreat. There's plenty of inside and outside dining space, perfect for exhaling for a short or long stay. We have a BBQ on the deck ready for you to use while soaking up the summer sunshine. BEDROOM 1: is equipped with a king bed, with a large wardrobe space and bright, north facing window out to the garden. BEDROOM 2: has a queen sized bed and is found in the upstairs mezzanine which is accessed via the attic ladder. The roof height is around 170cm at it's peak and pitches down either side, so it's cosy, but be sure to watch your head if you're tall. The roof window comes complete with block out blind, and easily opens right out to catch the breeze. You can also view the sun or moon rise to the east, or open to gaze at that wonderful starry sky on a clear night. Beds are supplied with quality linen and beautiful natural soft goose down doonas. All towels are also supplied, dried in our solar power drier making them soft and fluffy. The downstairs full bathroom is large, bright and luxurious, it blends a beautiful polished concrete floor with the natural textured timber walls and ceiling. It has a large shower complete with an amazing huge waterfall shower head. There is a gorgeous enamel claw foot bath, which can be enjoyed day or night, whilst watching the bird life in the neighbouring forest, or the stars on a clear night. There is a second toilet and sink upstairs also for those middle of the night trips. Stepping out upstairs you will find the spacious viewing deck extending directly outside from the living space. It comes complete with big table, chairs and a BBQ. It's from here you will want to do some koala and bird watching or take in the sounds, smells, and sights of the forest and ocean. In our kitchen we offer complimentary coffee beans ready to grind fresh and a selection of 10 beautiful organic teas. Occasionally we will have eggs to share from our chickens, bring your own just in case! Many native animals live in this space with us. Koalas regularly visit as do wallabies, kangaroos and echidnas. The bird life is phenomenal, and incredible to listen to at first light or dusk, especially when the kookaburras start laughing. Oh, and the owls! You might get a glimpse of our resident Powerful Owl or the Boobook. Our favourite part of day is that dreaminess of sunset, where the sky is often ablaze with intense colours that fill the atmosphere. The elevation expands the horizon in a way that really opens up the sky. On a clear night the sky is truly something you have to witness. With no light pollution, the stars will literally take your breath away. It is a totally different sky to anything you will see in the city or with lights around. If you aren't feeling like heading to the beach, just stay in for a glass of wine on the deck or in front of the fire, or why not do some star gazing out the window from the deep claw foot bath? From the luxury of the pillow top beds to the organic tea and coffee on offer, we have created this space for you to stop and really sink in and relax. Give yourself permission to do nothing! On our side of the fence we have 3 chocolate labradors. Freckles the eldest, Frankie the middle and Phoenix the youngest, who is Frankie's daughter. They are wonderful and love any opportunity to meet people. Phoenix likes to bark when someone arrives to let everyone know someone is here, but she is adorable, friendly and will always respect your space. We have a chicken coop with 11 girls laying eggs most days and a bee hive that helps pollenate our growing fruit tree orchard. Dale runs his Osteopathic clinic by appointment from the downstairs portion of the barn on Wednesday-Saturday. Patients will come and go on those days from the separate space underneath the barn. The treatment room is totally separate from the accommodation. If you'd like to chat to Dale about Osteopathy please get in touch.
Skenes Creek North is a semi rural but mostly forest coastal landscape. To give you an example we have about 4 acres of cleared space and the rest is natural bush. Our neighbours are similar, some have a little more cleared space for orchards and grazing animals. We are about 400 metres above sea level. As such we are often above the sea mist in summer, and can also be right in the cloud mist in winter. It's magical. Skenes creek itself is in front of us and is a beautiful picturesque town ship on the edge of Apollo Bay. The town itself is just houses and a beach, with the exception of a caravan park, which sells newpapers, coffee, and milk. The area is pristine national park as part of the Otway Ranges National Park and an endless number of beaches that extend in both directions along the great ocean road. It is a natural paradise and is so fun to explore in either direction, including inland where you will find old growth forest, waterfalls, and some tourist attractions such as the Otway treetop walk and redwood forest. The township of Forrest is a haven for nature lovers, in particular moutain bikers due to its extensive range of trails. It also has a wonderful local brewery, an equally cool general store and is also the home of a boutique chocolate shop.
  • We had such a great weekend at Dale and Jackie's place. It was obviously renovated with love, the hosts were very responsive and we felt very at home. The view and the balcony were worth the trip alone. We'll be back!

  • Long Tide is hands down my favourite place to be down the Great Ocean Road. Beautiful, relaxing and all round pleasant, I’ve been several times and regretted none of them. There’s nothing like making yourself a warm meal in the kitchen and chilling on the porch with a nighttime view of the ocean and all the stars in the sky, surrounded by rustling forest and clean, crisp air. Dale and Jackie are wonderful hosts, and I look to forward to being back at some point in the future.

  • Perfect escape from the city. So serene, relaxing and calm! Dale and Jackie's place is in a picture perfect spot and is beautifully set up. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Our long weekend at Long Tide was incredible! 5 stars for everything - absolutely beautiful location, stunning house, very comfy bed, cosy fireplace, lots of info about things to do in the area. Jackie and Dale were super friendly and helpful when we saw them, but the place is also separate and private so we felt like we also had our own space. They also had one of the best tea collections I've seen! Very much hoping to be back one day :)

  • Jackie and Dale provide an amazing space to get away and experience nature in one of the most amazing places in the world. The property was dreamy, and the surrounding nature was stunning. We were lucky enough to watch a storm roll in over the ocean, it was like a scene from a fantasy movie. The cabin itself was so beautiful and cozy. It was filled with thoughtful little touches, such as a large selection of gourmet teas, a fireplace, books, amongst many other things. Jackie and Dale (as well as Freckles, Pheonix and Frankie) were lovely and genuinely made us feel welcome, giving us a tour of the property and offering some great recommendations in regards to local activities and dining. Thank you again for an amazing experience and we cannot wait to visit again.

Rustic, rural and romantic – we’ve never seen anything quite like The Barn before. A truly unique accommodation experience that you will remember long after your drive home. The Barn has been converted into an incredible accommodation space, and is equally suited for couples or couples plus kids. From your entry on the ground floor through the ocean side timber door, you are greeted with an array of raw timber hues.
This property is located outside of Apollo Bay on a hill top. It is a rural property and as such there are water danger (dams) and sheep in the surrounding paddocks.
  • Superb experience for a 3 days getaway, definitely recommend to stop here more than 1 night!

    Rebecca2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is in an absolutely stunning location looking out onto beautiful countryside and the ocean. Pictures are true to the reality. Very thoughtfully decorated and there has been attention paid to details making it a very comfortable stay. Our family of five had a very memorable stay. Along with lots of information on local attractions etc and very quick responses to any questions - it is easy to see why Sharee is a super host!

  • We had a lovely stay here in December. Beautiful property, super cosy and very relaxing. Close to Apollo Bay (by car) where there are plenty of cafes/stores etc. There was an issue with the noise coming from the outer chimney spout that disrupted our sleep on the first night (due to the wind) which I pointed out to the property manager so hopefully that can be easily fixed. All in all, would stay again :)

Take a step back in time, to bygone era, where life was simpler, where people spent time with dignified entertainment and life seemed to have more space and time. Welcome back to the great age of Steam. The train was used as a workshop, when the original owner was building the house next door (also a Dufflebird property, Otway's Loft). In 2015 we renovated the derelict carriage to the vaguely steam-punk style holiday accommodation. It is available year round and can sleep up to 6 guests.
When we started renovating, the carriage did not have enough intact to restore it, so we have developed our own style that is vaguely steam-punk influenced. It took nine months to renovate the train from a pretty ragged start. Almost every surface had to have something done to it, and we found that carriages were really tightly put together (all that rattling) and hard to pull apart. When we did get panels off, we had no idea what we would find. We completely stripped and rewired the electrical, and did plumbing from scratch. Renovating anything over 100 years will have its challenges, but this was exceptional. It was opened for guests in July 2015. It is still a work in progress, there is a lot more to do before it reaches our vision, but we have been astounded by it's popularity. Special features include : - Can sleep 6 but 2 or 4 would be more comfortable. See Sleeping Options below. - 3 Bedrooms. Two in a single compartment with a double compartment master bed room. Two Queen beds, two thin train singles. - Full linen service with beds made up for you on arrival. - Bathroom with shower - Open plan kitchen/living room - Wood fire box heater with wood supply included - Full small kitchen with stove, oven, sink, fridge and cupboards - WiFi - Italian Stove top coffee maker and French Press (plunger) - Basic provisions like olive oil, spices, tea, coffee, Vegemite and Glad Wrap With great regret we no longer offer the four free bikes. The expectation of having bikes in good working order was a service we could not reliably offer without living nearby and maintaining them between guests. Bring your own mountain bikes or you can hire bikes at Forrest Hire Bikes, two minutes walk away. - Pets and children welcome. The yard is fenced but a clever dog could easily escape. NO TV. There is a stereo, books and board games. There is not a washing machine, nor dryer. Steam, certainly wont be for everyone, but we have had great feedback from the young and the young at heart. There seems to be a great fondness for the "Great Age of Steam", when locomotives were king! In the late 1800's trains were the greatest technological achievement of humans, they opened new horizons, and were a symbol of power and progress. We hope we have tapped in to this, and we're excited to be able to share it with guests. If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @dufflebird_getaways
Forrest is a gorgeous small town of weatherboard shacks, surrounded by towering Mountain Ash rain forest with lush ferny under-story. The dawn birdsong is deafening. There is a lot to do around Forrest even if you are not a mountain biker. Ten Things To Do •Walk around Lake Elizabeth or take the platypus tour. •Go mountain biking on Victoria’s best trail network. With great regret we no longer offer the four free bikes. The expectation of having bikes in good working order was a service we could not reliably offer without living nearby and maintaining them between guests. Bring your own mountain bikes or you can hire bikes at Forrest Hire Bikes, two minutes walk away. •Visit Otways Fly and zip line (Longest and highest rainforest sky walk in the world ) •Bushwalk to waterfalls and Redwood Forest. (Hopetoun Falls, Triplet Falls, Beauchamp Falls, Stevenson Falls). •Forrest Historic Walk •Visit local Wineries and Berry Farms •Forrest Brewery for lunch •Forrest Guesthouse for weekend degustation lunch or dinner. •Brae Restaurant •Spoil yourself and make it a long weekend. Take the Great Ocean Road home on Monday when there is no one around.
  • Steam carriage is really different - and a great way to spend a few days in Forrest to explore the fantastic Otway.

    Stretch2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really unique and 'cool' place to stay in the lovely township of Forrest. The carriage has a lovely feel to it, lots of original features but all the mod cons you need as well. The very comfy beds with high quality bedding and the silence of the country gave us a wonderful nights sleep. We took our dog with us and he had ball. The plot isn't securely fenced yet but I believe the owners are planning do that soon. Would definitely stay there again.

    Hilary2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Steam was even better than it looked it the photos, and it was obvious a lot of thought has been put into the details of every part of the carriage. Fleur also provided a lot of local tips. Highly recommended!

    Alice2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. The mosquito is a little bit more. Always pay attention to close the door all the time. Except for that, everything is fantastic.

    Shanqi2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The best, most thoughtful host I’ve ever had. From local tips to the little touches on the property, you can tell that Fleur really cares about the place and everyone that stays here. It was the perfect weekend.

    David2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Steam Carriage exceeded all of our expectations for the better, and it truly was the most fun we have ever had at an AirBnB. The original 1920s steam carriage character has been preserved beautifully, while having fully functioning modern day luxuries i.e. waterfall rain shower head, heating, a full sized gas oven & stovetop. Our favourite addition to the carriage was the firebox. Forest itself is a perfectly quant town of just 230, perfect if you wanted to get away from it all or use it as a base for the Otways & Great Ocean Road. Highly recommend Fleur for her communication, and for such a unique stay!

    Aaron2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This train carriage is full of charm. From eating breakfast outside to the nighttime games by the fire place. Not to mention such a great location. Recommended.

Quirky, Three storey tree house, hand crafted from local timber and vintage train carriage parts. Character rich, comfortable and FUN. The town of Forrest offers world class mountain biking. Ride in-ride out from the house. It also has some great food, coffee and a Brewery. Explore the Great Ocean Road and Otways Hinterland. Stunning waterfalls and natural attractions.
Note: The nightly price on the top right is mid week, off peak, with a small group. AirBnB adjusts pricing with these variables. Otways Loft was specifically bought, renovated and set up for holiday accommodation, the long awaited sister property to Liptrap Loft (National winner of Peoples Choice 2014 + Romance 2013 + state winner of Outdoor Lovers 2012). It is not 5 star luxury, but we can say with confidence that it is unique. The builder lived in a shed using the train carriage as a workshop whist building the house. It is an eclectic construction built on a framework of tree poles in a triangular pattern. The interior is a mixture of train parts, local timber and salvaged materials. Every shingle over the house and train was hand cut from the forest. It was a labour of love. Forrest is set in the hinterland behind the Great Ocean Road. It is a gorgeous small town of weatherboard shacks, surrounded by towering Mountain Ash rain-forest with lush ferny under-story. The dawn birdsong is deafening. There is a lot to do around Forrest even if you are not a mountain biker. Spoil yourself and make it a long weekend. Take the Great Ocean Road home on Monday when there is no one around. We scoured Victoria to find a property to match Liptrap Loft in unique character & charm. We think we have found it. There is still work to do, to get it to where we want it, but if you are not precious ;0) we think guests will enjoy the house and love Forrest. Special features include : - free standing claw foot bath in master bedroom ( with a lovely view over the green yard and landscape) - newly renovated bathroom - Wood fired heater with wood supply included - air con/split system in lounge room - Fully equipped kitchen. Oven/Stove. Dishwasher - Kitchen aid mixer. Juicer - washing machine and dryer - WiFi - Italian style stove-top coffee maker and French press (plunger) - Basic provisions like olive oil, spices, tea, coffee, Vegemite and Glad Wrap - Lush garden, fenced but not dog proof. There is a purpose built dog run on the veranda - With great regret we no longer offer the four free bikes. The expectation of having bikes in good working order was a service we could not reliably offer without living nearby and maintaining them between guests. Bring your own mountain bikes or you can hire bikes at Forrest Hire Bikes, two minutes walk away. - Piano - Pets and children welcome. BEDDING 3 bedroom (with a 4th loft/space but no door) - upstairs master bedroom with claw foot bath . King bed, that can split into 2 singles -upstairs reading room with balcony has two singles which can also be zipped together to convert to a king. -Down stairs is a third bedroom with a queen bed. -There is also a loft with a loft ladder and double futon. This is available as another bedroom for someone nimble. It is not suitable for elderly, but kids love it. Pricing includes linen. Total - 6 single beds (two of which convert to King beds), 1 queen bed and one double futon. The train carriage next door is also available for holiday rental. See the AirBnb listing: Steam Carriage In The Otways https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/7294998 The two properties can be rented together for larger groups. Together the properties can sleep up to 14 guests ( but ideal for a total of 10-12). If you have instagram, you can follow both our guests and our personal stays at @dufflebird_getaways
Forrest was a logging town until a decade ago. Since then it has been reinvigorated as the center for mountain biking in the state. World class mountain bike trails surround the town like ski runs at a snow resort. The town is surrounded by gorgeous lush rain-forest, with massive gum trees, teeming with wildlife like kangaroos, koalas, wombats, wallaby's and echidnas. Scores of birds pass through the garden all day. Forrest is full of gorgeous birds.

  • My sisters and I had the best time at Fleur's place! Absolutely slipped into another time period while staying here. One minute we were stressed on the city highway, and next minute we were baking pies and puddings, playing the piano and watching local goats. Was especially beautiful walking to the reservoir and getting to know some locals in town. Cannot recommend enough.

  • Absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful accomodation. Fleur was a fantastic and very helpful host. The amenities were lovely and clean and the kitchen was very well equiped. Very close walk to the Local store and Brewery. Overall a fantastic family holiday in beautiful Forrest.

  • What a beautiful place! We had the most peaceful and relaxing stay at Fleur & Mike's. Waking up to birdsong every morning and sitting around the fire playing cards and drinking wine at night - LOVE that there is NO TV! Fabulous kitchen with everything you could need, including handy condiments like olive oil, salt & pepper, herbs & spices etc. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower cozy and the chairs on the deck lovely to relax on while the sun went down. The location is spot on with loads of lovely walks only a short distance away. The town itself is quaint and lovely. Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights but we will definitely be back and next time with friends! Highly recommend!

Gellibrand is located in the Otways. It is the home of Otway Blueberries and Old Beechy Rail Trail. There is plenty of fishing, hiking and only a short drive to waterfalls, the treetop walk and Californian Red Woods.
  • Amazing place, beautiful setting and very comfortable ~

  • We enjoyed our stay though took a bit of driving hours. The kitchen facilities are great for our simple dinner and breakfast. The kettle has stain at the bottom but we still managed to boil water. Only one bathroom and one toilet. The bathroom is very big though. The surrounding is beautiful. We received three small packs of delicious blue berries from James when we arrived. That was a delightful surprise. No phone connections in the area but we are able to find our way. There is good WiFi in the premise. Our family felt that we should have spend more time in Gellihouse. They really love it.

We want you to make the most of your stay with us. Our guests enjoy flexible check in and out times. Check in early if you like to make the most of the day ahead. And check out any time you like on the day of your departure to extend your stay for a few hours longer *except during December* It gives us so much pleasure to provide a beautiful luxurious accommodation experience for travellers to enjoy. We value happy moments with loved ones and friends and love to make these possible at our place.
We’ve recently added free wifi and Netflix for our guests to enjoy. Our entire house is lovely and unique with natural wood floors and finishings. There is a central fireplace in the living area and it is the perfect space for relaxing or playing a board game with the family. There is a small balcony bar area where you can barbecue. Or have picnic on the back lawn. We have a picnic table and a firepit outside, great for roasting marshmallows and just hanging out with friends around the fire. We have a portable, rechargeable Bluetooth speaker which can also be used outdoors. The bedrooms are spacious. The master bedroom has a queen bed and beautiful views of the rainforest. The second bedroom has a 4 poster queen bed and a portable baby cot. The third bedroom is upstairs and has two bunk beds and is ideal for children. All linen is conveniently provided for you. The kitchen is equipped with the essentials like a stove, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge. We also have a Dutch oven pot which can be used on the fireplace for slow cooked meals. It can even be used on the firepit outside. We love picnics in this beautiful area and have provided a picnic basket for guests to use for day trips, complete with disposable cutlery. Guests are welcome to use the laundry which is equipped with a washer and dryer. You will also find a cupboard of “beach goodies” in here. We have a carport for you to park under and growing on the side of the carport is delicious kiwi fruit (seasonal). Guests are welcome to pick these when they are ripe. Although the house is situated on the Great Ocean Road, it is well hidden by a hedge and trees and is quite private. What else do I get? We’re glad you asked! Hot beverages and milk, breakfast cereal and pancake mix for the first morning’s breakfast are all included in the price. (We believe in value for money) We’re excited to soon be adding hampers for guests to pre order. These will be ready upon your arrival. **While we love pets, the fence around the property may be easy for smaller pets to get through, and so they should be supervised at all times** **Phone reception may be intermittent in this area**
Situated in the beautiful Otway Ranges. Only 35 minutes to the famous 12 apostles and other tourist attractions down the great ocean road. About 40 minutes from Apollo Bay and the beaches. Close to the Otway Fly treetop adventures and Triplet Falls. The hikes in the area are definitely worth it. About 20 minutes to gorgeous Johanna Beach. About 10 minutes to the Melba Gully glow worms. There is a charming coffee shop over the road, great for breakfasts and souvenirs. There is a country pub down the road - about a 3 minute walk, great for dinner. (We recommend the chicken Parma) (Wednesdays is Curry night)
  • We loved Jeanettes place. Wish we had been able to stay longer than one night. Lovely garden, beautiful bedrooms, really great decor, comfy beds, sofa, awesome books all around - we had a great time! Cooked some great food and relaxed with some card games and a movie before heading out a short drive to see the glow worms at melba gully. Thanks Jeanette!

    Kel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Everything went smoothly. Easy check in and out. Loving details in the house and well equipped. If possible, you should shop in Apollo Bay beforehand, as the options on site are rather limited

    Christina2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Though we only had one night at the lodge, it was cozy and perfect for us and our 3 boys. The two bunk beds upstairs helped avoid arguments about who gets to sleep on top ;-). We made great use of the kitchen for dinner and breakfast, as well as the washer and dryer. Overall it was great and we highly recommend it!

    Gary2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing home! Absolutely loved our stay, stylish and comfortable. Highly recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer.

    Pamela2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely house with all modern facilities. Everything you need is available. The kitchen also has a variety of tea, coffee, oatmeal and popcorn. The laundry room has a washing machine and a clothes dryer. Children's toys are prepared everywhere in the living room and the attic, and the children sit on the carpet and play Playstation at night. The yard is lush with flowers and greenery, but unfortunately we couldn't go outside because it was raining hard. But looking at the green outside the window when dining in the restaurant is really enjoyable.

  • Had a fantastic stay at Jeanette’s Airbnb. Set in an idyllic location, gorgeous bedrooms, very spacious, thoughtful touches everywhere like coffee pods, porridge oats, tea bags. We really get at home. Jeanette was quick to reply to us. Would definitely stay again- perfect central location for exploring the Great Ocean Road, Great Otway National park. Beautiful part of the world and wonderful Airbnb!

  • What a lovely place to stay. Perfect spot to stay at if you wish to explore the Great Ocean Road, or for a relaxing getaway. House was very clean and well stocked, kids loved the up stairs room. Will be recommending this property to family and friends wishing to explore the area. Thank you Jeanette for a lovely stay.

The stone cottage has been constructed with natural and local volcanic rocks. It is to the south side of the main stone built farm house and has it's own entry of the road overlooking the property. It has a lot of natural light all day long.
The cottage is full of natural light and has a very nice natural modern feeling. The hot water and electricity are provided by solar panels and there is a wood heater also. A separate room with 2 single beds is ideal for family with kids. The main room has a wide modern stainless steel kitchen with a very large table that seats 10 people easily. The double bed is situated in the mezzanine with access to a balcony from where you can enjoy the view of the wide state forest. The cottage is surrounded by a large veranda areas with a barbecue.
We are very far from neighbors and surrounded by the Otway State Forest and only few kilometers from the great Otway National Park.
  • A gorgeous place to stay

  • Mathias place was absolutely wonderful place to stay

    Alexis2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Matthias is a wonderful, friendly host! He was there to greet us at the prearranged time, showed us around and answered all our questions. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, modern, has extra blankets and towels, very comfy beds and a cosy lounge area with wood fireplace heater. The view over the meadows is gorgeous, and the cows are cutely curious. A very tranquil setting indeed, would highly recommend!

  • Authentic and rustic cottage set in beautiful countryside. Gorgeous cosy loft bedroom with a balcony that opens out to reveal lush green pastures and beautiful skies. Was lovely to sit there and watch the sun go down over the valley. Perfect spot if you are looking for a place to kick back, unwind and relax for a quiet few days.

  • We loved our stay here. The great Australian dream - a humble abode right next to the ocean. Skenes Creek is super cool, right next to Apollo Bay along an amazing stretch of coastline. We would happily return rain hail or shine - the shack is a piece of heaven on earth. Thank you so much x

    Tanya2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Shack is such a special place. We visited for our honeymoon and fell in love with it. It’s so peaceful, but close enough to the nearby town of Apollo Bay to get everything you need. The place is well equipped and beautifully decorated. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all, and we spent our time reading, playing records and walking along the nearby beach! We would recommend The Shack to everyone and hope we can come back soon!

  • Such a nice house and garden. We really loved spending our time here and would recommend staying for more than 2 days. Many beautiful places around the Otways to discover. We loved Forrest, a very calm village, a tip is to buy food on your way here since many shops and restaurants close early. The kitchen in the house is really nice! Thanks Sarah!

Plenty. Abundance through simplicity. A perfect getaway for those who need to unwind.
High up in the hills you have a private entrance and parking space for your stay at Plenty. Follow the short path and you will find an undercover deck with an outdoor fire kettle and outdoor bath. Once entering the caravan be ready to blush. We have a comfortable Queen size bed with under bed storage and desk area to set up the laptop or perch with a book. For those who need to stay charged and connected we have inbuilt USB ports, a Bluetooth speaker and Telstra reception. In the kitchen, we have provided a mini-fridge, a two-burner gas stove kettle as well as pots and pans. Although petite we have set it out so that you can still prepare your meals if you wish. A mini indoor fireplace will be sure to keep you warm in winter or our Air conditioner will cool you in summer. Our bathroom has a full-size shower, a compostable toilet and a hand sink. Plenty is located up a sealed country road and is a 9 minute drive to the closest beach and 15minute drive into the town of Apollo Bay, making it accessible to Cafes, restaurants, bars and Supermarkets.
  • Unfortunately the weather wasn't so great so we didn't get to experience the view which I was really looking forward to, but cozy little stay none-the-less!

    Darina2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • It's a long and winding road to get to Plenty, but the view from above is very rewarding. It's small and cozy, so travel light or keep your stuff in the car. We made breakfast every morning and had it out in the patio. The weather was sunny with the right amount of wind, and we had the opportunity to try out the outdoor bath tub. Unfortunately due to the fire warnings we couldn't light a fire outdoors and spend more time out at night, but the comfy bed made up for it. Loved our stay there!

  • Staying in plenty was such a unique and gorgeous experience! Waking up to The stunning mountain and sea view was breath taking and one I’ll never forget! The caravan was so perfect for a relaxing few nights away and falling asleep to the rain was such a beautiful sound. Star gazing is a MUST! The pink and white theme is gorgeous and is a stunning picturesque place you’ll love to take a few snaps at! We loved how it took us back to very simple living and it was so nice to be away from city living and enjoy such a gorgeous get away.

  • What a wonderful getaway! The views were even better than the photos! Absolutely breathtaking! The caravan experience was lovely where it was clean, bug free, cool during the day with the windows open and warm during the night with the fire burning. To wake up to a majestic sunrise and then to be taken away with such a view as you open your eyes to start the day really does set one up for a lovely holiday! Looking forward to return (:

  • Plenty has plenty to brag about! If you’re looking for a romantic getaway (truly off the grid, as another reviewer commented) that is memorable, relaxing, and inviting-look no further. We stayed two nights and were sad to leave. MaryAnne left a detailed manual with local tips, detailed instructions (we struggled a little with the little fireplace and the compostable toilet took some adjusting!), and communication/check in was easy. The caravan and property are gorgeous. Truly the most instagram-able spot ever. There were so many beautiful little personal touches-from the black hardware in the tiny bathroom, to the bialetti espresso maker, mugs to match the interior paint, adorable chiminea outside, and fridge-the space is equipped for a comfortable, cozy, memorable stay. Don’t forget to use the outdoor tub! It was otherworldly to watch a whale swimming in the ocean, hear parrots flying around, and see sheep grazing the hillside, all without leaving the comfy bed (or the warm tub). We already miss it!

Platypi Studio overlooks native bush from a large deck with panoramic windows. The studio is next to the brand new Platypi Chocolate chocolaterie and cafe, offering the best coffee in town. We provide 2 vouchers for free coffee each day and leave artisan choccies on your pillow. Platypi Studio is modern, spacious and comfortable and is a great place to base your Otways and Great Ocean Road experience.
If you are in Forrest for our world famous mountain biking, our architecturally-designed studio is right on the southern trail head and the brand new skills park. The Yaugher trailhead is about a 3km ride/drive. Feel like a walk through the bush? Trails start within 50 metres of the door or take a drive to the beautiful Lake Elizabeth. Stephenson's Falls is a short drive away, or use your Forrest stay as a base to explore nearby beaches (25 minutes), Trees Adventure ropes course, waterfalls, Otway Fly and even the 12 Apostles. Platypi Chocolate offers delicious all day meals and yummy delights or walk to Forrest Brewery or the Terminus Hotel for dinner. Famous restaurants Brae and Beacon Point are about 20 minutes drive away. Want to relax? Sit on the wide deck or swing in a hammock, read a book or have a snooze. Fish in the reservoir or surrounding streams. The large windows look over the bush, so even if it's raining you can enjoy our beautiful environment in warmth or sit around a blazing outdoor fire pit and admire the stars. The kitchenette includes a small oven, griller, hotplates, microwave, toaster and kettle. We supply a variety of teas and plunger coffee. This is an open plan studio with a separate modern bathroom. It is large and comfortable, but suitable for a couple only.
There are lots of options for eating, coffee, beer and wine. The General Store has plenty of provisions, but it's not a supermarket. Everything is within around a 10 minute walk.
  • We had a great stay here. The apartment was great - the kitchen was big enough to make breakfast each morning and we enjoyed the outdoor fireplace on the cooler evening. I would recommend staying here.

  • A beautiful house with a stellar view of the countryside and coast. Lots of privacy, natural light, and comfortable spots to relax and sleep. Located up in the hills above Apollo Bay so it’s away from any noise but close enough to the town to easily pick up groceries or spend the day at the beach. Would gladly book again.

  • This was by far one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in. My family and I stayed for two nights while we explored the great ocean road and loved it. The house was 10 minutes from the main road and had amazing views throughout. It was very stylish and had everything we needed and more. I highly recommend!!

  • I’m in two minds about recommending this place as it is so nice I want to keep it a secret. Stunning views, stylish accommodation, wood fire and exceptionally comfortable. Nicest place I’ve stayed on AirBnb and Sue gave us a very warm welcome. A must stay for anyone visiting Forest.

    Chris2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place was amazing. It definitely exceeded our expectations and was spacious for a group of 3. It was comfortable and we were surrounded by lovely views. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Great Ocean Road.

    Elle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was a lovely host. We loved the cottage, especially the cosy fireplace and great views! Highly recommended.

    Margot2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sue is an excellent host. The cottage was spotless and so spacious. The perfect ending to our day was watching the sunset on the deck with a glass of wine. The scenery was the perfect backdrop. However, the highlight of my stay was seeing a little koala in the tree beside the cottage. Such a beautiful idyllic place to spend the long weekend. Highly recommend!

    Mairead2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, in nature and with a fire place, this is your place to go! I did some yoga on the patio, with an amazing view over the valley. Highly recommended.

    Iris2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place exceeded our expectations. Check in and out was so easy and Sue came to greet us on arrival and make sure everything was okay which was lovely. The view was spectacular! Especially watching the sunset from the deck over a wine and dinner. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything you could think of and the cottage was very spacious for two couples. Sue’s local tips were spot on and she was very easy to communicate with. Highly recommended and hope to stay again soon.

    Jenna2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s cottage was idyllically stunning! The views and ambiance were a delight, and the place made coming home at the end of the day feel comforting and warm. The kitchen is well equiped and the two ensuite bathrooms gave us that little extra space. Perfect for a couple or a couple of couples, there’s plenty of local tips to enjoy a beautiful stay in Forrest. Yaugher View was sparklingly clean as well, which just made everything feel as tranquil as the rolling hills that surround it. Sue was a wonderful host, it was lovely to briefly meet her as well. Thanks again for a lovely stay, we can’t wait to come back!

    Jordan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sue’s place, it was very comfortable, had all the facilities we needed and lovely rural views to enjoy while having a wine or beer at night. Our beautiful farmstay offers accommodation for 4 guests comfortably (1 extra child or adult can be accommodated by request) in a private self contained bungalow in the Otways. Our farm is set on 16 scenic acres and is close to mountain bike trails, close to Forrest, horse riding trails and the 12 Apostles. The Old Beechy Rail Trail just a short walk away and the Otway Fly is nearby. You can mix with our animals walking around the farm or you can drive to Beech Forest see waterfalls & Redwoods.
Our home is a Farmstay, so expect livestock. We have cows and horses and of course, our dogs who help us with our cows. We produce honey, so there are bees in bushes and flowers nearby. We also offer a Breakfast Hamper made up with some of our home produce. Ask us about what’s available for you when you arrive.
We are on the edge of the Otway Ranges so there is lots of bush and wildlife. Lots of lovely walks and trail bike rides.

  • Clinton and Sue were amazing knowledgeable hosts, they provided directions and information about the area. Clinton was great for a chat about the interesting workings and projects of the farm. The bungalow was clean and they provided the essentials we needed which helped with the things we forgot. For people staying we would recommend some aeroguard for outdoors as there are a lot of bugs around, We would also recommend getting a breakfast hamper off Clinton and Sue as the fresh produce were delicious! loved their little dog Alfie also.

  • Amazing place to stay, so quirky and original. Lots to see around the gardens including a koala bear called “Barry” (when he decides to come visit) and a 97 year old cockatoo called “Cocky Doodle” who cohabits with a rabbit! Superb communication and helpfulness. We used the wood burner as it was cold and were supplied with plentiful kindling and logs. The barn featured a large jacuzzi bath which was lovely. Definitely recommended.

Welcome to Echoview @forrest_moments on instagram. Disconnect to re connect with no wifi !! An idyllic 44-ha property near Forrest, close to the Great Otway National Park and some of Victoria's premier mountain bike trails. Drive through the bush, through our farm gate and be blown away with the view. Your gorgeous little luxury mountain cattleman's hut with your own private 5-ha lake in the foreground. Breathtaking. Perfect for those craving nature and seclusion.
Forty-four hectares of bush, lake and idyllic farmland. The rustic looking house might appear to be a mountain cattleman’s hut but it is modern and comfortable. The exterior is made almost entirely of recycled materials, including timber salvaged from wharves along the Murray River (close your eyes and just imagine the paddle steamers once tethered to this wood in years gone by). The surfaces are roughly hewn and scarred, with remnant bolts trailing orange rust steaks down the wall. There’s something enchanting about the way the aging corrugated iron and timber invokes the Australian landscape. At night in summer the house clicks and ticks as it cools down, accompanying the sound of the bird life on the lake. Inside there’s a combined living and kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, electric oven, dishwasher and an old warhorse fridge and microwave, as well as all the necessary pots, pans, crockery and cutlery; all you need is a little imagination - and glass of wine, of course. Sit around the 6/8 seat dining table and invite your friends to join you. The wood heater will be set, ready to enjoy. Relax on the comfy sofa with the fire lit and the birds chirping…. let yourself drift away. Downstairs you will find two bedrooms both with queen-sized beds. The master bedroom features beautiful wooden external doors which open to views of the lake. A central bathroom with shower over bath is also downstairs. The mezzanine level above features a bedroom with two more queen-sized beds, as well as a DVD player and a selection of movies to choose from. This lake-house is made for entertaining – or just relaxing. Get busy in the kitchen and rustle up a gourmet meal to impress your guests. Or just grab a pair of binoculars (and perhaps a glass of wine!) sit on the deck and watch the bird life on the lake stretching before you.
There are world-renowned mountain bike tracks in the forest surrounding the farm. Exploring nearby beautiful Lake Elizabeth is a delight. Look out for a platypus! But you may simply prefer to explore our own scenic property, or walk through the adjacent bushland. The boundaries of the property are the forest on one side and the river on the other. Only minutes away you will find the local pub, Forrest Brewery (restaurant), a general store/café/milk bar and a chocolate shop/café. Birregurra (25 minutes) has interesting shops and a pub as well as a regular market. There are also local wineries. The Otway Fly is about 20 minutes away and there are many local waterfalls, and of course the beach at Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road is only half an hour away!

  • A wonderful place on a gorgeous property. I can’t recommend it highly enough. The lake was a magical feature and we just soaked up the relaxing ambience. Lots of great things to do and see locally but we also just relished being able to stay on the property and have the whole space to ourselves.
