Charming circa 1909 Craftsman home. Right in downtown Clraksville. Walk to shopping and restaurants. Close to Kerr Lake and Occonechee State Park. Enough parking for your boat and is also on Golf Cart route if you have one, bring it along. If you are ready for some peace and quite, this is your place. Smoke free. One indoor cat. One outdoor cat.
I am a weaver and I do work from home. My studio and workroom are on the second floor.
Clarksville is a small quiet town. There is the Lamplighter and the Pizza Pub for those of you who need a little night life.
  • I had a great stay. Randie was delightful. So much character in both the house and with her!

  • Very clean, amazing host. Better than expected.

    Dalton2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • My sister's house at the lake is where the entire family comes to gather for the holidays. With our growing family, it's gotten a little crowded over the years. So this year, I thought I'd look for a place nearby that I could stay while not too far from the folks. I've always liked Clarksville for its charm and convenience, so it was a no-brainer to begin there. There were a few choices and I liked the idea and homeyness of Randie's 1909 Craftsman Home. Big problem though! Randi was in the middle of renovating and had her home posted as unavailable. I took a chance and reached out to her anyway. Much to my surprise, she opened up a window of opportunity for me to stay several days. What a treat this was! When I got there Randie was sitting on the front porch swing waiting on my arrival. After helping me get my things in, she told me the story of her house and gave me a tour (it's huge!) including where she creates her beautiful items as a weaver (the process of how they do this is amazing!). Randie concluded with going over everything in my room, kitchen and the adjoining book-lined reading room (which in itself is like a trip back in time). The kitchen was conveniently located just across the hall. Despite the renovation work in progress, I've never quite experienced such a welcome and comforting feeling at an AirB&B as I did at Randie's house. It was sparkling clean and it was quiet. It was everything as expected–and more (good coffee and homemade banana nut bread on the coffee bar!), excellent communication...just everything you'd expect from a great host! For the record, midtown is just a couple of blocks away and the lake is just a short walking distance down the shop-lined main street (which btw includes several restaurants). There's a Food Lion and CVS just a short drive away. It was all perfectly perfect. Finally, thank you Randie (and your kitties) for everything! I'll be back!

This cozy guest cottage sits on 62 beautiful acres in South Central Virginia just minutes off Interstate 85. It has a 2 acre pond stocked with catfish, blue gills and bass. Wildlife such as deer, wild turkey, black bear, several species of birds and butterflies abound. Catch and release fishing is allowed on the the pond. It is 40 -45 minutes from lake Gaston, Kerr Lake dam and high bridge trail in Farmville. It is 15 minutes from the towns of Kenbridge, Victoria and South Hill. It is ideal for travelling staff for VCU Community Memorial Hospital.
The cottage is comfortably furnished. It is private and secluded amid open field and hardwood trees. There is a picnic table and hammock under shade trees.
We are located outside of town. We love the peace, quiet and privacy. The field of green and gold surrounded by mature hardwood trees is beautiful to behold, no matter what season. This is our own little paradise and we enjoy sharing it with others.
  • A cute little space, perfect for my work week. I’ll definitely be back!

  • Perfect little getaway. Super quiet. Super cozy! It’s what the doctor called for, even though we were sick, it was literally perfect setup. Cozy, quiet, peaceful. I got plenty of rest & can’t wait to go back in the spring , so I can walk the beautiful land they have here.

  • Ms. Regina is such a wonderful person who responds to any questions/concerns immediately. She is very helpful with everything including mail, town recommendations, etc.,. I give the dogs treats daily. They are intimidating at first, but are very friendly when they know you’re supposed to be here. I felt very protected and safe during my stay here.

  • This little cottage was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. It's in the middle of nowhere, we didn't have cell signal but thank God there was WiFi at the spot. I thought we would have the view in the picture from our window but that wasn't the case, but it didn't bother us at all. The three dogs barked when they first saw us but quickly became very friendly afterwards (Champ was our favorite!) we didn't see them the rest of our stay after that day. It has all the amenities a motel would offer, with a bonus shampoo and conditioner and fridge/freezer, utensils, cups, plates, pots, sink etc. If you're looking for a getaway from everything and everyone and just want quiet, this is the spot for you. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Oh and how can I forget, the prices were exceptional!

    Sashyra2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a cozy little place in the country. Everything was clean and well kept. The host had a family emergency and couldn't check us in herself but had a back up plan in place. Both check in and check out were easy. About halfway through the stay, the host checked in with us via email to see if we needed anything. Great place to stay, if we vacation in the area again, we'll definitely look for availability here.

Perfect for fisherman or a quiet getaway in this lakefront 2-bed, 2-bath Clarksville, VA home. The home offers a private dock where you can launch your boat or use our canoe to enjoy year-round fishing and boating. Explore the quaint town of Clarksville, just 10 minutes away by water or road. Pet friendly. This Clarksville lake house is the perfect retreat for couples, small families, and fishermen. *NOTE: This home has spotty cell service and no WiFi or cable*
Full functional kitchen, spacious bedrooms, comfortable living and dining rooms, large backyard with fire pit, private dock with canoe, two full bathrooms and laundry room. There is no WiFi or cable available in the area, but we do get a few channels through the antenna and we have a DVD player with a large collections of dvds. There are also board games and of course the lake!
There are great state parks in the area for hiking, like Occoneeche Park. There is also a splash park there for the kids! Grab a beer at Buggs Island Brewing or Ice cream at the Cottage Barn. Take a trip to Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Winery for a relaxing day. Of course, enjoy the lake by boat, private dock or on the sandy shore line right down the road.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were only two of us, so we mostly stuck to one floor (though the basement laundry did come in handy). Everything was clearly marked, and there was a binder with helpful local tips. The place was cute and clean. We stuck to frozen microwave meals/eating out, but the kitchen seemed to have everything you'd need to cook on your own. We also appreciated the location: close enough that it was a quick drive to restaurants or the grocery story, while far enough out of town to enjoy the peace and darkness at night. As urban dwellers, we particularly enjoyed the opportunity to use the fire pit. We brought our own logs; there was plenty of usable wood and kindling there if we hadn't.

  • Nice weekend getaway with plenty of space for 8 guests. I would definitely stay here again!

    Megan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for us! We were able to bring our dog. We loved the lake, canoe, and being able to have a campfire with our grandkids one night. The only reason it’s marked as expected is because we had great communication with our host, so we expected what was there. It was nice to get away from WiFi and Cable to play provided games and read books. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a little snow ❄️! But I suppose that is no fault of our wonderful host!

  • I took a 14-week travel nurse assignment in South Hill, and rented Thomas’s place for the entire duration. The location is peaceful, the home is clean, and communication with Thomas and his sister (she manages the property) is extremely friendly and prompt. I have absolutely no complaints, except that I have to leave for my next assignment. I had all the comforts and necessities that I could ever need, along with beautiful scenic trees outside my windows. Absolutely wonderful place to stay in Virginia.

    Erin2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • I am a traveling nurse and had a contract down at the new hospital that opened in South Hill for 10 weeks. Sometimes it’s hard finding places for less than 6 months, but it was no problem here! All rooms were furnished, full washer and dryer, the kitchen had everything needed, and it was in a nice and quiet neighborhood. This was perfect considering I worked nights too and sleep during the day sometimes. I really enjoyed staying in this place and am already thinking about trying to come back during the summer for another contract just so I can enjoy the nice large deck out back and the lake that’s not too far either. The owners sister lives across the way and so if I had any questions she was right there. I would highly recommend this place for anyone whether it be a vacation or a work trip!

    Audrey2018-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were working on the Warrenton Record roof and this place was the perfect place where we could cook food and sleep! Nice quite neighborhood!

    Jesse J2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • I never got to actually stay here because it was my evacuation point for hurricane Irma. The hurricane turned and I didn't have to evacuate. But let me speak to the customer service I received through the whole ordeal. Thomas was absolutely great! With the uncertainty of the hurricane, I didn't know what days to book. Thomas jumped through hoops to assure me I would get first dibs on whatever dates I needed and he was true to his word. Having a place to stay was one less thing I had to worry about.

    Quincy2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We planned a long weekend (4 nights-5 days)drive down from Jersey to check out the huge lake area, but all the lake front houses were booked & super expensive! Hotels were available but for our party of four,Thomas' house was reasonable rate, super clean, comfortable & well equipped. (maybe a 20 min. ride to Lake, 10 min. to nearest town South Hill) They even provided bowl of fruit/vegetables/candy on table & stocked the fridge with small cokes/water/juice! House has washer/dryer & central air as well. His sister Mae lives across the road & showed us in when we arrived. Quiet, rural single lane 'country'neighborhood with ample property & back deck.

  • I have stayed at this house for an extended time, and Tom and his sister make it a wonderful and easy experience. Quiet area, great location. Communication is excellent and Tom is willing to work around odd situations. Can't recommend them enough.

  • This place is amazing!!! Perfect getaway for couples or families. We stayed in the Pirates Den and everything was just perfect! We are already planning another stay which we will be bringing our families for a family getaway.

    Carri2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, the pirate theme is a character I enjoy seeing in places. The shower is small but serves its purpose! The bed is the bomb, super comfy!! Good location, close but far!

    Alley2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, I and our two young daughters stayed here for 34 days while we transitioned from Massachusetts to our new home in NC. It worked out perfectly! The lake was super close. Maybe a 5 min drive. It was great for the kids! We also loved sitting out at night around the camp fire. The other guests were super nice and Shirley was always there to help if we needed anything. The cabin was a little tight for all 4 of us, but we made it work. For the price we just couldn't beat it. It was also nice to have our pets with us. They loved the yard! I would totally stay there again and am thankful for Shirley's hospitality. She even let us stay an extra day at no charge since the closing on our house was delayed.

    Jennifer2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Pirates Den is a cabin on the edge a tobacco farm turned into an RV park. We have stayed at many properties through Airbnb. This has been the most unique experience. There is a tobacco museum on the property. The cabin was private, but you could also go outside and visit with the folks in the RVs. We brought our dog and she felt right at home with the dogs on the property. Freckles(the dog) came by to welcome us when we first arrived. The cabin was clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend...cups, dishes, coffee maker, hot plate, refrigerator.

    Aileen2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cottage. Perfect for two people and our dog. Love hearing the rooster in the morning!

    Beth2018-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice rural setting at a good price.

    William2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great experience to stay in a authentic old tobacco barn. The high ceilings made the space seem larger and we appreciated that it was clean, quiet and there was coffee and a coffeemaker in the kitchen. We did not realize the RV park was just outside our door, but the neighbors were very quiet and friendly. If you plan to have someone sleep on the sofa bed it has a very thin mattress. In the future I would bring a air mattress to place on top of it for support. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

  • Robin’s place was amazing!

    Dillon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Robin was most certainly a super host!! I wish I could give her 10 stars. Her apartment was spotless and well appointed. Be sure to open the door in the morning, the calming breeze off the lake is amazing. This was an unexpected quiet retreat with a direct view with small deck towards the water. The dehumidifier was a nice added touch. The goody basket was unexpected and the Keurig and coffee appreciated. Only visitor suggestion, if you have a low car, you may want to ask to park at the top of the driveway. (Not far at all, Maybe 10 yards away from garage) Your car could high center on the gravel hump when going down the drive. I promise, it’s not an inconvenience. The lights pop on right when you turn into the drive, so you’ll have a lot of light. You won’t find a more comfy easy place to stay. Heads and shoulders above other Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in. Huge THANKS, Robin!

Large private property (.75 acres) with Kerr Lake view and 1 minute walk to the shore. There is a 33 foot RV that is completely air conditioned and sleeps 6 people comfortably. Wireless internet connection and TV is available to hook up your Playstation/Xbox. No dock access, but can use shoreline as your beach and secure you boat/jet ski. Just over hour to downtown Raleigh and 5 minutes to a county store and State Park Kimball Point (beach/boat launch). Dogs are welcome.
The RV has electricity for lights and a powerful AC for a great nights sleep and a stove with 3 burners for cooking. The gazebo is a great place to sleep outdoors while still being protected from the elements (rain and mosquitoes). Enjoy the grill while playing corn hole and shower outside under the stars.
  • This was a great get away to hang out with friends. The space is very large to play yard/camping games (do think about bringing your own). The neighbors are very close but the campground is a bit tucked away so it feels quite private (you have to get past a bunch of private property signs to pull up to the appropriate fence on the property- it’s tucked back a bit more than we had originally realized). Overall great stay- just what we expected. Mike was very helpful and responsive.

    Andi2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mike’s place was the perfect weekend getaway. We had another Airbnb cancel on us, and Mike was very accommodating, hosting us last-minute, making sure we had everything we needed, and giving us local recommendations. Canoeing around the lake and sitting by the fire pit were just a couple of the highlights. We would absolutely stay here again!

  • Absolutely great place! Michael was awesome to deal with. He had everything set up and ready to go, gave us a great set of instructions and even accommodated an earlier check in/out. The location was just lovely and the set up was perfect for old friends just looking to catch up around a fire. Under recommendation from Michael we slept outside in the gazebo (bring your own sleeping bag) and it was super nice. I would stay here again!!

Our place is on Kerr Lake, 10 minutes from Clarksville, VA, and 20 minutes from Oxford, NC. Longwood Park ( is 5 min away with a sandy beach), Occoneechee State Park, and Rudds Creek Campground are all close by with boat ramps, hiking, fishing, swimming and more. You’ll love our place because of the views, the location, and water access.. You can park your boat at our dock. Our place is great for couples, solo adventurers, fishermen and small families.
The lake view is very pretty from our apt. Our dock is on a quite deep water cove just down the hill. We do not share our dock with the neighbors. Each family has their own dock, which is great.
The neighborhood is very quite only 4 homes nearby. Most weekends there might be a family or two down here. Our apt is one minute off the state road, which makes it easy to locate.
  • As always Vicki's place was exactly what we needed for our Buggs Isand stay. We HIGHLY recommend it!

    Todd2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean Convenient to clarksville and boat ramps Friendly host

  • My husband and I had a wonderful weekend getaway without the kids. We kayaked, paddle boarded, sat by the lake and relaxed. The apartment was as described and the game room was awesome. We spent our evenings playing pool and foosball. It was very quiet and the hosts left little snacks in the fridge and little supplies in the bathroom that we forgot and ended up needing. Having linens supplied was great! The hosts helped us get the kayak set up along with life jackets and paddles. They were available if we needed them and provided some great dinner recommendations. We would love to come back again!

    Brandi2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is a wonderful way to escape for a couple of days. A little off the beaten path but not too far from anything you may need. Everything was thought of and it was great.

    Matthew2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderfully quiet spot on the lake with direct water access, so relaxing! Vickie and Chris are very hospitable. I had a great experience!

    Tonya2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptional hosts!!! We could not have picked a more perfect place. They generously shared all of their water toys with us as well as their huge game room. Too many toys for such a short trip. We had a great time and loved the hosts.

    Kathryn2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I was on a work trip and so grateful for the little respite Vickie's place provided for my husband, toddler, and me. Vickie was thoughtful in finding ways to help my toddler had everything she needed, and the location just up from the lake is so beautiful and serene. The space itself was perfect for our needs. Thanks!

BUFFALO HIDEAWAY Nestled in the Woods, 2 Bedrooms, 1 large Bath. Private dock* see lake levels next pg * - great for parking your small - med size boat & for fishing. Our Cabin is about 12 years old and has been very popular. We are located in the Buffalo Creek-Springs area of the largest lake in Virginia! It's the best lake for Fishing and Boating!! The Cabin gives you and pets room to enjoy privacy. Fully stocked limens - bring soaps & toiletries! . Very large Bath. Washer/Dryer
Fishermen are welcome. Fishing is popular here all year round. Please note! *our side of lake is private but it’s not a deep area so when lake levels are low, the dock may be unusable for boat. We have room in our driveway to park your trucks and boats. Pull up close to the outdoor faucet or electrical outlet if needed. Buffalo Park and Boat Landing is just down the road for launching your boat. The Park also offers picnic tables, fishing area, playground and a nice swimming area. There are many nice, local Federal Parks plus Occoneechee State Park. The lake is right out the back door with a gentle sloping path through the trees that is easy to walk. Enjoy sitting on the back deck and get back to nature! Boat Rentals are available in town of Clarksville or at Marina. We live on the adjoining farm so we are right here if you need us or have any problems!! The water at our dock is only about 3-4 feet deep so x-large boats are not recommended to dock here. Floating is good but swimming is better at the local parks or out in the open lake if you have a boat. Always go feet first! Never assume you can dive in our lake. And be aware of drop offs! We have a Fish Cleaning Table and placed a Picnic Table in the backyard for your cookouts! (Please be courteous and clean up this area after use.) We have recently added WiFi. If you wish to use the Internet please inquire. Thanks !
A few miles from the only town on Buggs Island Lake. We are also only 15 miles East of South Boston, VA where you can find a Wal-Mart, more restaurants and a movie theatre & bowling alley.
  • If anybody is looking for vacation and need a place to live I suggest this place is wonderful and definitely I would come back to this place

  • Jennifer's place was exactly what we needed for our daughters high school fishing tournament at kerr lake. The only thing was the lake was very low and we were not able to use the floating boat dock as it was on dry land but other than that everything was great.

    Chris2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for me- easy to travel to South Hill as you are just off the highway. The house itself is hidden in a wooded area with great views. Loved seeing the cows in the fields in the morning. Great back porch with a BBQ. The house is relaxing and comfortable, and it was handy having a washer and dryer. Jennifer is a great host and very accommodating. We would have stayed longer but it was booked. Great location for healthcare travelers with dogs.

    Sharon2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer is very considerate and a wonderful host. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this location for a peaceful getaway. Thank you Jennifer.

    Gary2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great "little house" and was everything promised. Jennifer is a gracious hostess, while allowing us the privacy promised at the same time (our dog has a loud bark, so we didn't want to be too close to any other vacationers). The fishing wasn't great this week, but we still had a good time exploring the lake and surrounding area. All in all, we highly recommend Jennifer's cabin as a wonderful place to vacation, and we hope to enjoy another trip there soon. Thanks for everything, Jennifer!

    William2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the privacy of this little home. We spent most of our weekend down by the water, enjoyed having no one else around. There’s a grocery store and gas station within 10 minutes of the cabin. The grill worked great, kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Overall, one of the better weekends we’ve had in Clarksville 😊

Want to step back in time to the late 1800's? Staying at the historic Bracey Train Depot will give you that experience and more. The Depot is surrounded by historic buildings with the old post office across the street, the general store next door and other historic buildings. This section of Bracey Drive is just around the 'cut' and just a half mile from I-85.
The entire space is available for use. There is a small front and back yard. You will enjoy the area and the other historic buildings on the street. You can take a scenic two mile hike down the rail bed to Lake Gaston.
Bracey is a small town but lots of fun things to do! There is Lake Gaston a short hike down the railroad bed, fishing, hiking, bike trails and a golf course.
  • Had an amazing time at Charlae’s old Depot home. Was cool to explore the old town and go for a few runs down the old train tracks. Nice out of the way location to catch up on sleep and regroup.

    Chris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for nearly 2 months with our dog. It's a good size - has a living room/bedroom, a good sized eat in kitchen, and a office area that has a daybed. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with everything you need. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the outdoor sitting area (at the back) because of the time of the year. It's close to South Hill - took me just 15 mins to/from work. Charlae is very responsive and was quick to get back to me when I had questions. Quiet area - there are no immediate neighbors - closest house is up the top of the road. There is an old railway line/walking trail behind the house but we were unable to use it because hunters drive up and down it and a fast speed, which has also churned up the ground. Overall, we really enjoyed staying in this unique home. The wifi isn't good and you can't download or stream, but hopefully this will change when services are available in the area. We'd stay again and I recommend it to others.

    Sharon2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had an amazing weekend staying at the train depot! It was such a neat place. We really enjoyed the vineyard right down the road and a few of the local restaurants. Charlae was a great host! She had snacks, toiletries and so many thoughtful little things. Thank you for having us!

    Savannah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the train depot! Very cute and cozy, with so many thoughtful touches. Food in the pantry and refrigerator, coffee and tea, washer and dryer, extra toiletries, and even face masks! The space is beautiful, and the master bedroom is CRAZY big with a crazy comfy king size bed. Charlae was very easy to get in contact with and very very very accommodating, as we were in town for a wedding and had some last minute change of plans. Definitely would recommend and pick this place if we need to stay in the area again.

    Kat2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • So much more inviting than a drab hotel/motel room. We would return without a moments hesitation.

    Elizabeth2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at the depot! It was cute and comfortable and had everything I would need for staying away from home! Charlie was the best! She was always available if I had questions and responded quickly! I lived there for 12 wonderful weeks while working as a nurse traveler in South Hill. I would highly recommend the Train Depot for short or long stays. I would absolutely stay here again!

Welcoming and comfortable house on Kerr Lake with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious kitchen, living room, dining room, and locally-famous stellar screened-in back porch with open back patio. Located in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of privacy and space. Private dock access is a five-minute walk from the house. Family-friendly and equipped with everything you need to cook for yourself, including grill (bring your own gas).
THE LOCATION: Our place is located in a quiet residential lake cove just minutes from Interstate-85 if you're coming from Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, Greensboro, or Richmond. This is the home our family grew up in and feels comfortable and homey, with plenty of room for children to play in- or outdoors. THE SETTING: The property is adjacent to a beautiful woods leading to the lake's shore. The spacious front yard is perfect for a game of catch or tag. Because Kerr Lake does not allow development on the shoreline, our floating dock is located a short 5-minute walk from the house down a wooded path. Our back porch overlooking the woods is fully screened-in and outfitted with ceiling fans and seating so you can comfortably enjoy dinner and drinks outdoors. THE KITCHEN: Inside the house, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook at home. Host friends and family around the bar while you cook up a masterpiece meal. Our kitchen has a fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, and a pantry with cooking essentials. THE LIVING ROOM: Our house is organized around the open and light-filled living room, which is a comfortable space for games or kicking back on the couch and watching a movie or TV show on our 55" Smart TV. We do not provide local channel or cable access, but guests can plug their own device (laptop, tablet) in via HDMI to access their favorite accounts like Netflix, Hulu, or HBO Go directly through the TV. Please note that we do not allow fires in the fireplace. THE EXTRAS: We also provide lots of extras to make your stay more comfortable. You'll find all the linens you'll need including extra blankets and beach towels. In the Tar Heel room, you'll find kids books and games for the whole family. In the basement, battle it out on our ping pong table. If you’d like to grill, we offer a medium-sized Coleman grill that uses 1 lb propane tanks you can buy at any big box or hardware store. Buchanan’s up the street also usually sells them.
Our residential neighborhood is quiet and friendly. It's close to both Kimball Point and County Line State Parks which provide boat ramps, camping, playgrounds, and picnic areas. NEARBY ATTRACTIONS AND LOCATIONS: * Kimball Point or County Line State Parks (5 min drive) * John H. Kerr Dam and Recreation Area (15 min drive) * Warrenton Historic District/Antiquing (20 min drive) * Henderson/Movie Theater/Wal-Mart (20 min drive) * Rosemont Vineyards and Winery (25 min drive)

  • We are repeat guests at Victoria's place, and we have never been disappointed by our stay. We use this as a retreat for friends traveling in all over the East Coast. We love the rental space and the community. This time of year was great for sitting on the back porch all day.

  • Wooded Retreat is a charming home with lots of character. It certainly met the needs of two couples for a relaxing fishing trip. There were plenty of supplies available including shampoo and body wash. We loved our experience and would consider rebooking in the future!

    Jenny2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and great local tips 👍. Enjoyed the screened porch on our one rainy day as well as the ping pong table. Beautiful short walk to the dock. Will be going back every year. Kind hosts who responded quickly to any questions I had. Felt I was in capable and reliable hands.

    Allison2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • I love this house! It is tucked into the woods, and feels like you have a nice, private escape in the woods. There is a terrific screen porch, and a spacious house. You step out to the back yard, take a short hike through the woods, and you arrive at a nice quiet cove on the lake. This location leads into a larger cove that is great for wakeboarding, and then leads out to the main lake. We rode bikes over to Kimble Point, and kayaked around the cove, lazed around the porch and around the dock. Great relaxing vacation!

    Cheryl2019-07-20T00:00:00Z

  • This was a wonderful stay!!! The views are outstanding! Huge dock, great fire pit, tons of space! We had rain 2 out of 3 days and there were tons of movies and games to help keep us entertained while relaxing inside. Everything was clean and communication with the hosts was excellent!!! Definitely recommend!

  • The home was fantastic. Very clean and plenty of linens and blankets. The location was very easy to find, and being on the main lake, was easy to get to the marina. Mandi was very accessible and responded to my questions quickly. There is an extensive DVD collection to make up for a weak wifi service (runs on a jetpack which relies on how good the cellular signal is).

    Bryan2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place very clean, perfect location, has everything you could need!

    Timothy2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Water’s Edge was perfect for my family’s stay in Bracey, so perfect we extended our stay another week. Our two little ones had plenty of movies to watch and a basket of toys to keep them busy. Although the weather wasn’t the best, I did get to enjoy a little time on their nice dock. It would be a blast during a summertime visit. I’d definitely stay here again in the future.

Forty years later, when the river became an important means of transporting tobacco, many large plantations were built in the area, most of which were destroyed during the Civil War. Martinsville Speedway Martinsville Speedway’s 2006 season marks the track’s 59th year of operation. Founded by H. Clay Earles the year before NASCAR was formed, Martinsville Speedway is one of the oldest tracks in America that’s still a part of the Nextel Cup series. Beginning in 1947 with 750 seats, it is the only original NASCAR-sanctioned track still running Nextel Cup events. Richard Petty, now a car owner, holds the track’s winning record with 15 victories. Although it is the shortest track on the NASCAR circuit, the 800 foot straights, coupled with turns banked at only 12 degrees, makes the track perform like “two drag strips with a turnaround on each end.” The demanding layout consistently produces some of the wildest fender scrubbing and push and shove racing on the tour. The space feels very private and manages to be rustic while still having all the modern amenities you would want. We especially liked the stamped copper ceiling in the kitchen!

  • Ada’s cabin truly was an escape. The cabin easily accommodated all 8 people in our group, had 2 fire places, a hot tub, and incredible interior design. The cabin was spacious yet cozy and felt like home. Each room and bathroom was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the backyard for roasting s’mores, the collection of DVDs, and the grill! Our group plans to rent this home again in the future as it was perfect for a group setting and exceeded our expectations. Ada was very thorough with her house rules and easy to get in touch with. I highly recommend booking this home!

The historic Old Crowe Farm is a 132-acre pasture-based sustainable farm and educational outreach nestled in the rolling hills of south-central Virginia. The farm sits on a 496-acre tract of land that was actively farmed in the mid-1800’s by John Nelson Bruce, Sr. (b.1812). During this time period, Charlotte County was composed primarily of self-sufficient farms and plantations. Many families in 1800’s Virginia owned slaves and raised many crops consisting of corn, hay, soybeans, wheat, and tobacco. A two-story log cabin on the farm is rumored to have been home to one of these slave families when the land was owned by the Bruce family. The cabin is made of hand hewn logs with clay daubing, hand-made square nails, and V-shaped notching at the corners. The cabin is a truly individual and distinct creation made out of local materials by local people. Preservation activities are currently underway with this cabin and plans are to furnish it with artifacts from that period. The numerous tobacco barns located on the farm also serve as constant reminders of days past.
  • Awesome experience with a great host! The farm hand experience is highly recommended! The breakfast was awesome as well!

    Will2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our fourth annual girls trip to Old Crowe was as fabulous as ever. The farm continues to grow and change each year, but the staples--the friendly welcome dog and the farm fresh breakfast every morning--remain the same. Thank you for hosting us, Jacqueline. Sorry we missed you this year, Jim!

  • If you're looking for a place to stay that gives you the feeling of being home, then this is it. The meals can top anything you'd buy in a restaurant and could give your own mom a run for her money! The house is very comfortable, well equipped, and sectioned off to the rest of the house so privacy is not an issue. I highly recommend to opt for the 'farmhand' option; all the animals were very well behaved and so darn cute. About a 20 minute ride to get into Clarksville. Everything you can ask for and more for some time away from the city and to relax for a weekend. Definitely going again ASAP!

    Seth2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • When they said country breakfast, they were not kidding! The food was beyond amazing. Communication was easy and quick. We really enjoyed our trip thanks to the hospitality we were shown.

  • Great space and breakfast! Jacqueline was a great host!

    Sowmya2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Jacqueline's farm is one of the best, most serene air bnbs we have ever stayed at. There is nothing quite like waking up to the sights and sounds of a happy farm. From the moment Ranger (the dog) greeted us as we left our car, we knew we were in good hands. The farmhand program was an eye opening experience and a chance to work closely with the cows, chickens, goats, and pigs (we really bonded with Wyatt, the young cow). We left with a newfound respect for the animals and the work that goes into producing high quality food. The jam making was educational and fun and we left with plenty of jam to bring home. The house was comfortable and homey. We highly recommend taking the time to experience all Old Crowe Farm has to offer.

    Jonathan2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location if you prefer or would like to experience a quiet, rural setting. Jim was very kind and thoughtful when it came to having breakfast for us each morning, including the morning we had to leave early for the airport.

    Becky2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow!! The breakfast and hospitality were fabulous! It was truly relaxing to go to this farm and we wished we could have participated in the farm classes, we’ll definitely be back! It’s a great cozy space, although a BnB, you do get your private space, which is very nice. It’s very quiet and was a peaceful stay!! I cannot say enough about the homemade creamy oatmeal, sausage, buttermilk syrup and everything else!! Truly fabulous!

Unobstructed lake views, in a quiet neighborhood! This home is well suited for two families or a large crew looking for a close getaway... Kerr Lake is just over an hour from Richmond and Raleigh. Private dock, boat slip, outdoor shower, 10 min to town and memories for years to come. This is our special retreat and we hope you will choose it as yours!
Our home is located on Kerr or Bugg's Island Lake, just outside Clarksville, which offers restaurants, antique shops, a marina with boat rentals, grocery stores, festivals and much more. The home has two bedrooms and a basement, which I refer to as the "kids zone" because with a tv, wii, games, books and 4 beds I'm able to shout "go downstairs" when the adults need some peace on the deck. The house has bath towels, sheets and all the things you'll need to enjoy your stay, including a washer and dryer. Just bring your suits, beach towels and plenty of sunscreen!
My favorite things to do include hiking throughout the area, getting ice cream at the Cottage Barn, having some wine at Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Winery, taking the kids to the playground and splash park at Occoneeche State Park, getting a beer at Buggs Island Brewing, touring Prestwould Plantain or just wandering through the shops downtown. Oh, and then there's the lake :). Hiking, boating, fishing, biking, kayaking, swimming or just enjoying a quiet evening on the deck are all encouraged... whereas electronics should stay home as internet in the countryside is available, but very slow. We have lots of DVDs and a Redbox in town, but puzzles and books are our favorites!
  • Beautiful relaxing stay!

  • Enjoyable quiet peaceful stay at Becca's. House is well stocked and comfortable with plenty of room. My husband and I had a wonderful time on our mini vacations. Came back rejuvenated.

  • Becca’s home fully accommodated my family. We enjoyed our stay at Becca’s to the point we extended our stay in Clarksville an extra day. Becca was quick in responding to the change in our travel plans. Would absolutely stay at Becca’s again.

  • My Wife and I had a great relaxing weekend at Becca's little gem on the lake. The house was even better than we expected and was very comfortable and felt like home. Nestled in a very quite area right on the lake made it the perfect place to unplug and relax. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets around the fire pit next to the water. The quaint little town of Clarksville is just down the road and our stay just happened to fall on the weekend of their annual Fall Festival. We would be happy to stay here again our next time we need to get a taste of the "Lake Life"!

    Tom2019-10-07T00:00:00Z

  • What a cozy space! Washer and dryer, toys and consoles, cute fishing themed decor - good for a weekend or even a whole week. A lovely getaway in the country. We didn't take advantage of the dock or pool nearby because we were attending a wedding, but I'm sure those are nice as well. Great price for the amount of rooms and amenities! Two of the three bedrooms were a little small, but still comfortable. It was easy to find, and Alison was available if we needed anything (but we were all set!).

    Sarah2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Just a short drive to the beach. And we also used the community pool, which is only $5 and it’s very clean. The house is older but very clean and spacious. We also loved the outdoor space with the covered patio and table and chairs. We’ll be returning to this place!

Lake views from every room, gentle slope to calm cove, sandy beach, private dock, fish cleaning station, 2 decks, fire pit, grill, fireplace, neighborhood tennis/basketball court, walking path, nearby playground, boat ramp and downtown, dog friendly
READY TO RELAX? Pack your comfy clothes. Leave your worries behind. It's time for a trip to Kerr Lake. Nestled in a private cove on Kerr Lake, the Log Cabin is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Located in Clarksville, Virginia, the Log Cabin is just 1.5 hours from Raleigh, 2 hours from Richmond and 3 hours from Charlotte. It's a short drive, but you'll feel like you're a million miles away. YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS You'll enjoy views of the lake from nearly every room in the house, a sprawling deck, open floor plan and rustic furnishings. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the Log Cabin sleeps 8 (1 queen, 2 full, 2 twin beds), but can accommodate a larger family with the use of toddler cots (2 available upon request), a pack 'n' play (1 available upon request) and a comfy sofa. Bathing towels and bedding are provided (please bring your own beach towels). Dining room seats 8. Kitchen is well equipped for a group of 8+. House has heat and air conditioning. YOUR ITINERARY Drink your morning coffee and enjoy the sunrise on the front porch glider. Take a run along the trails through the quaint neighborhood. Catch an impressive catfish or bass from the private dock. Soak up rays, dine alfresco and watch deer roam the 3-acre property from the expansive deck. Play tennis or basketball on the neighborhood court. Take a nap or watch the sunset in the comfy hammock. Cook the catch of the day on the gas grill. Roast hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire pit. Play games around the large dining room table. Watch movies in front of the gas fireplace.
We bought this log cabin because it felt like home to us. The neighborhood is beautiful to walk/run through, which is hard to find in the Clarksville area. We love that there is only a slight slope from the lake to the house, which makes it safe for kids and elderly guests. You'll see that it's rare to find a property like ours on Kerr Lake. Lake access can be treacherous from some properties. Not ours! It's right on a beautiful, calm cove with a sandy beach nearby. Locals gather on the beach to mingle, kids swim and play horseshoes, families use the picnic table and grill for waterside lunches. It's idyllic, really. Spending the evenings or early mornings sitting on the dock and watching the heron and eagles fly overhead is so relaxing. Lounging in a float in the cove or paddling over to the sandy beach is another favorite activity. We also enjoy catching our dinner - usually catfish. It's great that you can enjoy the lake (and tasty fish) with or without a boat. I like the private cove because I can jump off the dock and swim around with my kids without worrying about boats, tubers, etc. running us over or making big waves. Plus, there's plenty of space for skiing and wake boarding on the main channel just a short boat ride away.
  • The home is wonderful! Beautiful area and the little town is a great place to kick around some antique shops. Everything you might need is probably in the cabin. We definitely enjoyed the canoe and fire pit, and the Christmas tree was super entertaining for my grandson. Just a wonderful extra touch. We’ll be back, when it’s good fishing!

    Amy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin for our three generation family retreat. Very cozy and well-equipped with outdoor and recreational items, especially nice fire pit. Sturdy bunk beds great for kids. Kitchen exceptionally well equipped. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Paul2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved the log cabin, the Christmas tree was a nice bonus!

    Matthew2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • We caught up with old friends at the cabin and had a wonderful time. Even on a chilly November weekend, there was plenty to do. The kids went 'exploring' around the property. We enjoyed the fire pit each evening and went out to eat in town one night. Occoneechee State park is very close by and we went hiking there (the park is amazing). The cabin itself is great - plenty of space for a family of 3 and a family of 4 to catch up. If anyone is looking for a good escape from the DC area, we would highly recommend a visit here.

    Ted2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars, great location and great host!

    Robert2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Really chilled out, relaxing house ideal for two small families. We loved the fact that we're could walk directly down to the lake. Plenty of time spent on the little beach and kayaking. Kids enjoyed the campfire too! A really ideal spot to unwind.

    Vanessa2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second year at Jen’s cabin. It’s a great spot with plenty of amenities. The three kayaks and one canoe are definitely a plus. They have a super nice dock and fishing is great in the cove. Keep your eye out for the bald eagles. Quite the treat when they pass by the sandy beach. If you secure this cabin you won’t be disappointed.

    Roger2019-09-29T00:00:00Z

There is a community boat ramp so you can bring your own boat! There are also places nearby that rent boats, jet skis, tubes, wakeboard, etc. Holly Grove marina/gas station very close. • The lake house is a perfect location on Gaston lake, short distance from I85. It’s comfortable, clean, colorful, and quaint. We stayed for thanksgiving holiday, so it was chilly for us Floridians, but gorgeous view to the lake and LOVED the big deck and yard. Beds are comfortable, 2 full bathrooms, kitchen had everything we needed, and Danielle was quick and understanding to help when we needed her assistance. She’s a kind host and looks after her place with pride. Thanks for letting us stay and make family memories.

A two-story log cabin on the farm (pictured to the left) is rumored to have been home to one of these slave families when the land was owned by the Bruce family.
  • What a wonderful weekend we had! For us, this was a little back to basics get away/ girls weekend adventure. Jacqueline was the perfect host! Her local tips sent us into nearby Clarksville and the state park. The farmhand experience was amazing for these city girls! So much fun!

  • Do you like quiet, great food and nice folks? Look no further. If you have a dog that is behaved it will be welcomed and Ranger is a great furry host! This was all it is listed to be and such a bonus to see a working farm and literally the chance to enjoy 'the fruits of their labor along with the meat and eggs.' • Jim and Jacqueline’s place was perfect! The farm is beautiful, the house is great, the bed was so comfortable. The best part of the stay was the hospitality. We really enjoyed talking to Jacqueline and it felt as if we’d known her forever; like talking to a friend. The breakfast was incredible!!!!! We will definitely come back.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Jim and Jacqueline’s. They warmly welcomed us upon arrival and kept us well fed with a hearty breakfast each morning. We had a four year old with us on this stay and we would not stay here again with a little one. We wrongly thought that this would be a place that she could run around and enjoy the farm life but with electric fences, etc around the place, constant supervision was required. We thought we might have had more access to the farm animals. Locally there wasn’t much to do with a four year old. We travelled an hour or so south one day into North Carolina to an amazing science museum which we loved but we were hoping that the farm location would have been a rest spot for us not one we would have to travel far from to entertain our daughter. Overall though Jim and Jacqueline provides a safe and clean accommodation. Thank you for letting us stay!

  • The perfect farm getaway. Lovely home, animals, and people. They were so kind to accommodate 6 adults and provided a wonderful experience for the whole family.

  • Loved staying at the farm with Jacqueline and Jim. It was so quiet—very bucolic surroundings. Loved taking a walk around the gardens and viewing the historic cabin. The rooms are all furnished with antiques and bed was very comfy. We had our own bath and breakfast nook. The breakfast was beyond great! All organic! Delicious fresh eggs, sausage, the best biscuits ever and homemade jams! Go out of your way for this stay-you won’t be disappointed.

  • Exceptional staff and service on site. My husband and I enjoyed an anniversary weekend in one of the charming cottages. Breakfast and dinners are superb. Enjoyed Friday evening with live music on the patio. You can walk to downtown or take a 5 minute ride to Kerr Lake and Occinneechee State Park . Memorable weekend . Thanks Nichol.
