It also offers transient docking if you choose to bring your boat , and there is a launch right in the harbour .. walking distance to liquor store and other conveniences in the small town of Beaverton , this is a great place to unwind and enjoy summer endeavours at lake simcoe .
  • This is a great little place for a quick stay near Lake Simcoe. Malcolm is a great host that is very open about any shortcomings in the rental, which were very few and no big deal for us. I stayed with my two young sons and the accommodations were good for us. It is one large room (studio) with a bed and a loveseat pullout bed. I feel like the description and pictures don’t reflect that but either way, for a party of three it was perfect. Very close to town and very close to ice fishing access. We would definitely stay there again and plan on exploring more of Malcolms properties for our next stay.

    Gerald2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Malcolm's boathouse was very clean (important to me), had just about everything you could possibly need, TV Netflix was easy to figure out, plenty of lighting, comfy bed, and very close to the water and pier. Malcolm also is very available, just a call away, if you have any questions.

  • It was amazing. Place and location couldn't ask for more. Description was very accurate Would stay again

  • Very nice, cozy place. Excellent location and beautiful views. Malcolm was very accommodating when we had a last minute change of plans which was great. The suite had everything we needed and more. I would definitely recommend and will book next time I'm in town.

  • Such a cozy little place in a great location. I would like to return in the summer season, but if you are looking for a quiet getaway during the winter months this is a great spot! Malcolm was a great host and very accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay again.

  • Malcolm’s place was exactly what we needed for our short stay in Beaverton. We definitely recommend it to other guests.

    Amente2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Malcolm’s place was wonderful. It’s a nice cozy boathouse will all the amenities you could need . The harbour and pier is a minute walk away and town is about 10 min walk . Malcolm was very helpful and responsive with any questions or concerns we had . I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway, as we would probably come back again soon .

The Shortiss Boutique Hotel offers four private and unique suites in an upbeat and newly renovated historical property located in the charming, quaint, old town of Beaverton, Ontario and a short walk to Lake Simcoe. All rooms are decorated with original art by local artists and some custom, eclectic, vintage, and antique furniture pieces. For guests’ convenience and comfort, all private rooms have their own bathroom with a personal hygiene kit and plush towels.
This room offers two twin size beds. It also has a well-padded, cozy chair with ottoman (perfect for reading books at), and a small writing desk and chair. The private bathroom is equipped with a large, luxurious stand-up shower. This room does not have a bath tub. Our aim is to offer our guests the homely attention to detail of a Bed and Breakfast with the luxury, comfort, and flexibility of a top-notch hotel. By virtue of our small number of rooms, we can provide exceptional hospitality and a truly bespoke experience encompassing a wide range of guests' needs. The Shortiss, is a place where one should desire to lay down their luggage! Far from the hotel stereotypes, a true-life place where each room was imagined differently, so the traveler can constantly renew his/her experience. Treating yourself to a guest room, feeling at home, unwinding in a relaxing ambiance or taking advantage of all the many activities in the area, the Shortiss offers it all. Originally built as 'the Shortiss Hotel' in the mid 1800's, it was picked up off its foundation closer to the lake and moved to its current location in the late 1880's. You can still see the quirkiness in the building's slightly skewed front entrance. It has had an extensive history, since then, being turned into a plethora of businesses and residential apartments. But shortly after purchasing it, once we found out the building was originally a hotel when it was first built, we knew we had to return it to its intended purpose. Today, the building has been completely renovated and decorated with our personal taste and passion and with an uncompromising focus on the details and with an eclectic mix of contemporary, vintage, and antique décor items scattered throughout all the spaces. As one of the oldest buildings on the street, the Shortiss has been designed as a country house, a second home, if you will. It's a place to feel great, a place you won't want to leave, a place where you can't wait to come back to. It’s an intimate house, full of emotions, with a soul, and a story.
The Shortiss is located in the charming town of Beaverton, Ontario, on its historical main downtown Simcoe Street. Conveniently situated among boutique shops and cafes and only a short walk to the shores of Lake Simcoe. In summer relax on the beach with a good book, soak up the sun and take a dip in the water. You will love the location as we are just a short walk to local public beaches. Beach-goers have been spotted wind surfing or kite boarding here on windy days. Rent a boat or seadoo, or bring your own and use the local launch, and enjoy a day on the water! In the winter, the lake does not disappoint. It’s world renowned for the ice fishing and gorgeous views of ice fishing huts sprinkled across the lake. There are many ice fishing excursions that are based right here in the town of Beaverton. The locals are more than happy to offer you the full experience. No matter the season you can always enjoy the most gorgeous sunsets here!
  • I had a lovely stay here and would definitely come back! My room wasn’t just luxurious and stylish it was very cozy and comfortable. I slept very well and wasn’t bothered by the street noise. In fact I couldn’t hear anything at all. The town is small and quaint but has everything you could possibly need. I went a street over for dinner at Tar’d & Feather’d, had great food there. Then in the morning went around the corner to The Little Brown Jug for a coffee and muffin. There’s great shops on the street and a picturesque harbour a 2 minute drive down the road. Such a cute undiscovered town. I definitely recommend visiting Beaverton and staying at this affordable luxurious boutique hotel! Thank you for everything Alex and Sandra!!

    Samantha2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay in a beautiful newly renovated space. Comfortable bed, great shower, and very quiet and peaceful vibe overall. Sandra and Alex were excellent hosts, super quick to respond and on top of everything. Would not hesitate to stay there again should the opportunity arise.

  • Grest place to stay at!

    Israel2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is located right by the lake. It is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Perfect for a winter getaway for my husband and I. It was frigidly cold the night we were there and the cabin was nice and warm!We look forward to staying here again. The walls between cabin 1 and 2 are quite thin so would be ideal if you are friends with the people in the next cabin.

    Sandra2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless, stylish, warm and cozy. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. It’s was a cold blistering stormy night, the room was warm and inviting when I walked in. The bed was comfortable, added touches toiletries, coffee, everything you could need. I can imagine in the summer this place would be even better and I hope to have to come out this way in the summer. Highly recommend this place. The value for the price is perfect. Thank you!

  • This place is in the perfect location with a view of lake simcoe and the awesome sunsets! Nice and clean living space , great value and easy check- in process, and the man at the front desk was extremely friendly! Will definitely be back to this hidden gem for future trips to Lake Simcoe! • Very nice place with a great location right on the lake. It’s a motel so you can’t expect the homey touches you get at many other airbnb’s but it’s still great value for anyone staying in the area. Very clean and they had the heat on when I arrived which was a nice touch! I’d definitely stay here again!

  • Cute spot for a couples getaway weekend Close to local trails and the waterfront, and the private hot tub is the perfect way to cap off a day

    Ryan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very cute and Tatiana was very quick to respond with any questions. We had a nice hot tub in the morning and went to go tubing at the nearby ROC. Perfect place for a girls night.

    Crystal2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time here at Tatiana’s place! It was quiet, very private and very clean. It’s a great little spot if you just need some downtime. The internet worked great, there was lots of options on the TV, and there were your basic amenities. We enjoyed all the extra blankets and towels. The fireplace was perfect as it added a little extra warmth. Unfortunately we didn’t get to use the hot tub as we didn’t know we needed to communicate with Tatiana first about setting the hot tub to a hotter temperature before arriving. Thus, it was only at 27’C when we arrived (at 7pm) and was no where near ready at 10pm when we wanted to go in. I would definitely stay here again, we hope to be back in the summer to enjoy the beaches that are near by.

    Katt2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much! It was a cozy and clean space, and loved the view. We didn’t get opportunity to use hot tub but that was a nice plus. The bathroom is small so a bit hard to manoeuvre around but otherwise the space was exactly what we needed!

    Lenore2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cozy place for a couple if you're looking to spend a night in Georgina. The hot tub is nice if you want to unwind and relax.

    Umar2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful space for a little getaway. The hot tub works great and the privacy enclosure ensures it can be enjoyed no matter the weather. Tatiana was also very quick to make sure our stay was as relaxing and enjoyable.

    Jeff2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Easy to check in, great communication from the host, nice and clean and the hot tub was awesome too.

This building was built in the 19th century and reflects 19th century character including some shifting. The walls are a foot thick. The apartment is a mix of modern touches with antique charm. The bedroom features antique furniture while the living room features modern furniture.
Woodville was originally know as Irish Corners in the late 19th century, the name of the town was changed to Woodville after the completion of the post office under postmaster John Morrison. In 1871 the Toronto and Nipissing Railway was built through the flourishing settlement and in 1878 Woodville became a police village. Woodville had a town hall, lock-up, grist-mill, two foundries, a cheese factory, planing mill and sash and door factory, a number of dry goods stores, mechanics' shops, and three hotels. It also had its own brick school house, with two teachers, and two churches – one Presbyterian, the other Methodist. Today, the cheese factory, rail station, gristmill, mechanics shops, and hotels have all been shut down. This property is one of the original hotels built in the nineteenth century. It was once a restaurant with the original restaurant sign still affixed to the structure. Woodville now is home to one dinner style restaurant, one variety stores, a pizza parlour, LCBO, post office, mechanics shop, a curling rink and arena, two baseball diamonds and two parks with children’s play structures. There is a lovely trail for a light hike or bike ride. The beach is a ten minute drive north to Beaverton.

  • Stayed for several nights and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Close to the lake and the grocery store isn't too far. Place was clean and a joy to relax in. The host, Sandra, was very responsive and was available for anything we needed!

    Anton2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • I just got back from a week at Sandra and Alex’s lovely guest house. I wanted a quiet place free of distractions for a solo writer’s retreat, and this place was perfect! The kitchen is lovely and well-equipped, so I could make all my own meals (although, there is no microwave, so don’t pack frozen dinners!). I loved the little coffee percolator just like Nona used to have, and I used it a lot. I also brought my own fire logs and enjoyed a couple cozy fires. The twin beds might not be conducive to a romantic couple’s getaway, but it was perfect for my purposes. The mattress and pillows were very comfy. I loved the lounger in the corner, and all the little porcelain knickknacks added an antique charm to the bedroom. There is no TV (as they are up front about in the description), but the wi-fi works well, so I could watch a video on my laptop if I needed a break from writing. And there isn’t much within walking distance, but a 25 minute walk took me to a charming general store where I could restock the basics (toilet paper, wine, and home-made butter tarts — what more does a girl need?). By the end of the week, I was being so productive that I asked to extend my stay an extra night, and Sandra was very happy to accommodate. So I finished an entire revision of my manuscript! Thank you so much! I’ll be back when I start book two :)

  • Wonderful view and dock! Walter was quick with responses and cottage was exactly as advertised. Great place for the pups! Nice neighbours too!

    Courtney2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to spend the last long weekend of the summer (Aug 31 - Sept 2, 2019). The place was just as advertised, much bigger than anticipated, and a complete WIN. The living room was cozy and we were able to watch some movies on a rain day via their DVD player. Although the BBQ was smaller than we were used to, we cooked 99% of our food on it and it worked without a hitch! The sleeping areas were surprisingly comfortable and all 4 of us were able to take satisfying showers. As for the property, breathtaking. The dock gave the most beautiful views, especially during the sunrises. The fire pit/chairs made for great evening conversations and s'mores over the fire. The location of the space was also far enough to feel "away" but close enough to grocery stores/gas stations/civilization that it was a max 10-15 minute drive if you absolutely needed anything. The host was VERY responsive and accommodating to any/all questions and responded quite quickly. Such a nice person! My 3 friends and I will definitely be returning to this hidden gem in the near future!

    Anastasia2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner had a real nice stay at this cottage. Unfortunately we had one day of bad weather, but the cottage space itself is lovely for sitting in during those days. One thing to note is that there is a DVD player which I don’t think is in the listing, so if you’re thinking of going to the cottage then do take a couple movies for those rainy days (there is a selection of movies on site however!). It is not possible to swim in the lake directly from the dock, however the boat provided does provide the ability to get out to deeper water and take a swim! The fire pit and outside space is fantastic, with relative privacy from the neighbouring cottages. The host was quick to respond to our queries before our arrival and was friendly at all times.

  • Such a great place - spotlessly clean, really spacious, great location, easy to find, everything we could need including a fully stocked kitchen! We were 4 adults and a toddler and it was more than enough room for all of us. A very short drive to the lake and also great recommendations for places to visit and where to eat nearby. We will hopefully be back! Lindsey was also really quick with communication and it was easy to check in.

    Sarah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and a especially nice kitchen. Close walk to the water and really easy check in. Would highly reccomend.

    Jacob2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time at the cottage. Lots of space to play in the backyard and lots to do in the area. House was clean and stocked with supplies. Comfy beds and the activity basket was a nice touch. My family and I had a fun fishing, playing at the park and enjoying a nice campfire. We will definitely be back.

    Ashley2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a perfect little get away in a quiet, very low traffic neighbourhood. Backyard was very private and nicely shaded. The house was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. There was a basket of games and art stuff there, which was so nice. One thing to be aware of is the cottage has softened water, so bring some water with you if you're not used to the taste. Lots of places to sit and hang out inside and out - the sun room is really cozy, and so is the livingroom. Perfect for 1 or 2 couples.

    Laur2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Lindsey's! The cottage was clean, spacious and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches and an awesome, fully stocked kitchen that made preparing and cooking meals for our picky toddler such a breeze. We were also pleasantly surprised by the watermelon that Lindsey thoughtfully left for us to enjoy! We loved the proximity to the waterfront and playgrounds -- great if you've got little ones. Our daughter especially enjoyed wading in the water at the little beach (about a 5 minute walk from the cottage) and swinging on the long tree swing overlooking the lake. The cottage is also a short drive to Sibbald Point, which has a larger beach. Lindsey was very hospitable and quick to respond to all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

A rustic cottage just yards away from Lake Simcoe with a walk out stone beach. Ideal for swimming and relaxing and watching the most amazing sunrises. Yes, this is a real cottage, not a fancy home built on a lake. It's located on the very prestigious Eight Mile Point. Just over 1.5 hours away from Toronto and 10 minutes into the town of Orillia. Sleeps 6 people comfortably. There's a kids play structure on the property, trails for hiking, tennis courts and a corner store a short walk away.
This is a cozy country cottage with carpet throughout. There is a living room area TV, DVD player + lots of DVD's. There is no cable TV or wi-fi. The kitchen has pretty much everything one might need, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and filters, bottled drinking water, kettle, plates, glasses, cups, cutlery, pots and cooking utensils. Dish soap, sponges, dish towels, garbage bags are all provided. There is also a bbq with propane provided. There is a dining table and chairs inside and another large table in the sunroom. Outside furniture is also provided along with laundry machines Parking available in the driveway - big enough to accommodate numerous cars. There is also a playset for kids to enjoy while the adults relax by the lake
Eight Mile Pt is a quiet peninsula that only has cottages on one side of the road facing Lake Simcoe. The other side of the roads leads to a large centre property that offers fantastic hiking. Not far away is Big Curve Acres Farm, Scales Nature Park and Horseshoe Valley resort. Great for keeping the kids entertained. It is also a short drive to Orillia, which is great for grocery store runs and restaurants and rainy day entertainment.
  • Cozy cottage. Great water line and swimming for young kids. The water is rocky so bring water shoes! There are a lot of spider that crawl in the rocks :) beds are very comfortable! Fans in every bedroom which was great.

  • Nice and calme place. We have been visite by some wild animals it was funny.

    Jean-Paul2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! The cottage perfectly located on a secluded peninsula right on the beach was a highlight. We were lucky to find this gem on such short notice, as our previous booking fell through. As described, the cottage is rustic and cosy, but it has all the necessary things and the view from the kitchen in the morning is magnificent. The linens and the beds were comfortable. The cottage is very clean and perfect for two families with small kids. The area where the cottage is located is incredible, hiking trail right next door, short distance to an Oro Medonte Rail Trail, Big Curve Acers Farm, Scales Nature Park, scenic drives and the beach at your front steps. It is also a short drive to Orillia, which a great for grocery store runs and restaurants. We couldn't have asked for a better week away from home. Geoff was a great host and was very accommodating.

    Maya2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff’s cottage is located on an extremely impressive area of the Lake, both for morning sun rises and pride of ownership in all homes in area. All properties are well maintained and make for a wonderful walk or drive exploring the area. The lake is quiet with only local traffic. There is an old time local dinner that offers afternoon and evening entertainment, and most importantly Kawartha Dairy Ice cream. Geoff and his family share their cozy family cottage with Airbnb members, therefore personal family items are abundant however very comforting with lots of cabinet, shelf etc space for renters use. Clean, organized and several personal touches made for guest to enjoy. The cottage is spotlessly clean, with comfortable linens, pillows, mattress and excellent fans in all bedrooms which were much appreciated during our tremendously hot week stay. Well laid out with several areas for a person to get some private time and just read a book or have an afternoon nap. The beach is the story line here. Ample sitting areas, extremely large patio umbrella providing shade to another patio sitting area; raised deck off one of the living rooms provides an wonderful eating area, all of which have great views of the lake. There are water “toys” for all ages, which were used to float in the lake most of the days. The lake is sand/stone bottom base which requires water shoes, which Geoff provides many different sets. Great swimming lake, totally safe for families with small children. The entire beach front area is well thought out with sitting areas, play areas for children, wood piles for children to play in, and a large bonfire area for evening fires when the Ministry permits. For some odd reason there was not one mosquito any evening we sat out – bonus! Being so close to the GTA and all amenities I would rent this cozy family cottage again.

    Karen2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed for a cottage stay with four children. Super clean, safe and host was very hospitable and generous!

    Genevieve2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVE Geoff's place. It has a very homey feeling, like grandma's cottage on the lake. The beach area is beautiful and well maintained, and the lake views are spectacular. The house is clean and there are plenty of places to sleep. A shop nearby sells Kawartha Dairy Ice cream and it is the best. We wish we had planned a longer visit. Thanks Geoff.

We definitely recommend this cottage to everyone, as the place is very cozy and clean, you'll find all the amenities needed both for a short and long stay, and the location is great - by the canal and not far from stores for a quick shopping. Thank you so much!

  • Bonnieview was a great destination that is not too far from the city but far enough to be quiet and allow for a relaxing stay. The cottage itself is nicely set up and cozy. We were very happy with our stay there and will happily stay there again!

    Kayla2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage exceeded my expectations. The pictures don't do it justice. The house was very modern and decorated so nicely. The fireplace was great at night as it got a little chilly. The location is perfect as we only had an 8 minute drive to Virgina Beach where we went ice fishing everyday. Only thing I would suggest is bring your own toilet paper and salt and pepper! We had to make a trip as soon as we arrived to grab these items. Would definitely book again!

  • Booked a not-so-tech-savvy friend into Susan's place as a last minute booking due to the poor weather expected. She was kind enough to meet him to get him acquainted. My friend passes through regularly and now wants to book her place as a regular stop.

    Anne Marie2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Susan extended me a very warm welcome and is a lovely host. Her place is easily accessible, functional, provides value for money and is well located - particularly for those interested in (ice) fishing on Lake Couchiching or cross country skiing / (snow)biking on the Hardwood tracks.

  • This was a one week vacation, and we found a place like 'home'. A beautiful property, front and back. The accommodations were very, very clean and spacious. This is an apartment in their home, bottom level, with no stairs at the rear entrance, which is the canal side, consisting of a kitchenette, refrigerator, induction cook top, dishes, pots, etc., no sink; however, Ingrid always is so attentive, the dishes are washed in a dishwasher and replaced within an hour. There is a kitchen table, which overlooks the canal and the marina, which is beautiful. There also is a large living area, with a huge T.V., with Netflix. A double glass door, which separates the living area from the bedroom, and a very nice bathroom with a great shower. They provided cushions for the outdoor lounge chairs, and provided a large table so my husband could clean his fish on it along with the garden hose. Ingrid and her husband were sincerely amazing people, and wonderful hosts, and we were sorry to have to say bye. t was an honor to be able to spend time with them, in their home. We will return.

    Marlene2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Having the canoe available for use was amazing as we paddled throughout the lagoon exploring the different channels and cottages. The house and property are absolutely beautiful, very clean and relaxing. Great atmosphere as you walk into the unit with music playing, lights already on and a wall of wine as the main center piece! We had an amazing stay! Highly recommend!

  • I have no words to describe my wonderful stay at Ellen’s place. This is by far my best airbnb stay in past 5 years. Her home is reflection of her personality which is mix of vibrance, positivity, cheerfulness and purity. Her house is sparkling clean and is well decorated with colour scheme of green and blue. The location of the house is perfect cos its faces the lake. When you wake up in the morning you will hear the birds tweeting and sound of waves from the lake. I was celebrating special occasion and had registered for the dinning experience which was by far my best decision. Her food was out of this world because it had a special ingredient “LOVE”. Her love and passion for cooking was reflected in each and every dish she had cooked for us. Since I mentioned to her that we like Mangoes and Almond she made this special Dessert of Almond with Mangoes which by far is one of the best dessert I have ever tasted. One more important thing is her respect for your privacy. During our stay, she made sure we were never disturbed and we had at-most privacy ( I recollect when she greeted us on our arrival she told us to feel free and relax around the house - which she actually meant). Overall our stay was so blissful that it helped us de-stress, relax and cleanse our mind. Hats off to you Ellen for giving us this experience.

This room offers two rooms. The first is the sitting room with a comfy couch and coffee table (perfect for reading books at), and a small writing desk and chair. The second is the large, brightly lit bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a small dresser. The private bathroom is equipped with a luxurious soaker tub with a hand-held shower and rain head fixture.
Beachgoers have been spotted wind surfing or kite boarding here on windy days. Rent a boat or sea-doo, or bring your own and use the local launch, and enjoy a day on the water!
  • We stayed here for the weekend while ice fishing on saturday. It was perfect for us as it was close. The place was reasonably priced, super clean, cozy and nice little touches. Will return next year for sure!

    Leanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

Although we brought our own supplies, the trailer was fully equipped and had everything you would ever need. Such a friendly host and sparkling clean and cozy place that we wish we reserved for a few more days. I'd take this over any motel or cottage by the lake.

  • What a great stay. Taking the ferry to the island and staying in a cabin with wooden fireplace heat was the perfect cozy getaway from the city!

  • We came in December and really enjoyed our weekend here! The place was clearly prepared for us with a radio playing nice music and the heat turned up in all bedrooms. All of our questions were addressed in written instructions on site. Everything was clean. the number of pots and dishes was more than enough for our group of 7 adults. The movie collection was a nice surprise! Water from the tap was always good pressure and hot (in case anyone is concerned). The fireplace was easy to manage. Walking outside was magical. It is so quiet!!! Overall it was a great experience. I hope to be back soon!

  • Jake and Chantal have a great place at a very beautiful island. I faced a problem with the living room heater and as it was cold we had to face some issues.

  • A great place! The house is spacious and well equipped. The beach is two minutes away from the lake, water shoes recommend! A just beautiful shore! We had a workshop with Jake, made dreamcatchers, discovered more about the medicine of nature, played drums and learned the strong women song. A unique experience which gives you a glance into a different culture and history of Canada. Great for the whole family. We were prepared for mosquito invasions but nearly had none (guess End of August is a good time:0). We had an extraordinary time, explored the island, saw see eagles, bats, many frogs and butterflies and beautiful Stars at night. A place to calm down and find yourself.
