Silfra Tectonic Snorkeling w/Photos
I take being a host on Airbnb very seriously and I’m all about offering the HIGHEST quality. When you choose my experience over others, you will have this super small and personal experience with a true local. I don’t have a HUGE operation with dozens of guides, where you never know who you are going with. This is why I have much smaller groups. Please note that due to how expensive it is to run the tour I can not take only one person on the tour. Please contact me if you are booking for just one person and I will see what I can do to make it happen. We will meet at Þingvellir national park, where the two tectonic plates, the north american and eurasian, are drifting apart from each other. Silfra is a fissure in between the two plates and has the clearest water on the planet. This makes Silfra one of the top dive sites in the world. I will help you get suited up in the drysuit and explain how to use the snorkeling equipment. Followed by a small briefing about Silfra fissure and how everything regarding the snorkel works. The activity in the water is about 25-30 minutes. After we get out of the water we walk back to the car and enjoy a warm drink and some snacks. Other things to note You must send all participants Height (cm), Weight (kg) and Shoe size (EU). This is very important so I can pick the right size of drysuit for you. Please meet me 10 minutes before the start time. If you arrive 15 min after the start time of the tour, you can not participate.
The Funky History Walk - With a local storyteller
On this tour we will walk we take a short walk through downtown Reykjavík. Throughout the tour we will share with you some fun and interesting stories from Iceland's history from Vikings to modern times. You will learn about some main historical events and learn how the fight for survival, freedom, and tolerance have shaped the nation. Learn how these values continue to shape its liberal attitudes today. Listen as your guide brings not-so-common stories to life through humor and unique storytelling. We are history buffs with a passion for storytelling and your new best friends in Reykjavík.
Silfra Snorkeling with Underwater Photos & Hot chocolate
Snorkel in Iceland at one of the top dive sites in the world, situated in Thingvellir National Park, only about 50 kilometers from Reykjavik. Silfra fissure exists due to the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates separating around 2 centimeters a year – leaving a rift in the landscape between them. This rift is filled with glacial water from Langjökull glacier that has been filtered through lava fields for decades before reaching Silfra – making the water exceptionally clear and drinkable. Drysuit Wearing a drysuit makes snorkeling in 2-4 degree Celsius (35 degree Fahrenheit) water achievable – without experiencing the cold. With a thermal undergarment and the protection of the drysuit, you manage to stay dry and warm. Wetsuit For our more daring and adventurous participants, who are after the ultimate Icelandic snorkeling experience, we usually recommend snorkeling in a wetsuit. You will have more mobility and are able to dive a little under the surface to explore Silfra up close and personal. Incredible visibility and views Experience the incredible visibility exceeding 100 meters, along with the breathtaking dramatic sights as rays of sunlight stretches its arms through the pristine waters, touching the rocks and algae growing on the walls of the canyon. Or watch as the snowflakes melt on top of the still, see-through water on a cold, crisp winter day. Other things to note NB; Stick to main roads and dont take any short cuts to Silfra, especially in the winter time. Give yourself time to get there and be prepared for any unexpected delays. Amending your reservation with less than 24 hour notice is 8000 ISK per person.

Landmannalaugar and the Valley of Tears, from Rvk & Selfoss
Embark on a journey to one of Iceland’s most captivating destinations Landmannalaugar, located in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in the Highlands of Iceland, famous for its breathtaking landscapes such as vibrant colored rhyolite mountains, bubbling hot springs, lava fields and epic hikes. The lava fields and the rhyolite mountains are the result of thousands of years of volcanic activity. Laugahraun lava field was formed in a volcanic eruption in 1477 consisting of vast erratic black obsidian which is known for its smooth, sharp edges and unique appearance, and famed in the TV series Game of Thrones as “Dragon Glass”. Rhyolite is a type of volcanic rock that is made of quartz and silica and with minerals such as iron and sulphur adding extra color to the mountains. Brennisteinsalda or “the Sulphur Wave” is a very good example of this. We will stay over 3 hours in Landmannalaugur and we offer approx. 2 hour guided hike through the obsidian fields up to Brennisteinsalda, but you are welcome to explore the area on your own within the given time frame. You can take on different trail or just relax and stay longer in the natural hot pool – just don’t forget to bring your swim suit and a towel on the trip! The natural beauty and unique geology of this area will leave you in awe and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Landmannalaugar Jeep Adventure
Explore the highlands of Iceland in a small group. Drive on Iceland's highland roads and enjoy the adrenaline kick by crossing rivers on the way. The tour will be guided by a geologist, which gives you the opportunity to explore the breathtaking landscape from a unique perspective. We will drive in a modified Jeep which makes the whole tour a special adventure. This tour will give you enough time to enjoy the beauty of the highlands without being tied to a tight times schedule. Hjalparfoss Our first stop is marking the beginning of the highlands. In the shadow of the volcano Hekla lies the beautiful Waterfall Hjálparfoss. Haifoss The Fossá river falls over 120m down into a canyon and forms one of Iceland's highest Waterfalls. In the colorful layers of the canyon, we can see how huge eruptions formed the landscape of the highlands. Ljotipollur Lake The most beautiful “ugly puddle” in Iceland. The different colors of this place make it the perfect photo location. Landmannalaugar Landmannalaugur is the most famous hiking area in the highlands. Here we will go on a small hike and explore the breathtaking landscape. Geothermal hot springs and mineral deposits form colorful mountains. You will feel like hiking on a different planet. And don't forget your swimsuit, after the hike we can relax in one of the Hotsprings. The Tour highly depends on weather and road conditions.
