Vermont Vacation House

Matthew Rating, 5 stars64 months ago
Bob's place is spacious and preserves a sense of its rustic American heritage ca. 1895. Just what we were looking for. We'd rented it with a view to having more people travel with us from London, Ontario - I think it could comfortably sleep 12. As it was, three of us came, but no worries - my son and I are musicians, and were able to practice at opposite ends of the upstairs and not hear each other, nor disturb my wife downstairs. The downstairs bathroom is really luxurious, as the shower also doubles as a steam room. The fireplace and wood stove kept the place nice and warm (not that it was cold outside during our stay), and the beds have big down comforters as well. We couldn't imagine being chilly no matter the weather. We'd initially planned to ski all week at Killington, but the weather was a bit warm and rainy, so we skied only on Tuesday. We spent the rest of our time hiking in the hills in the area. There is no end of hiking trails. Due to a misinterpretation of the AirBnB site for Bob's place, which somehow made it through their filters as dog-friendly, we surprised Bob with our huge St. Bernard - I guess only part of the property is meant to be dog friendly (?). However, Bob was cool about it and accommodated us. Still, for future reference, if you intend on travelling with a dog, you should OK it with Bob first. Joseph Smith's birthplace is very close at hand, in South Royalton. We visited this outstanding historical site on our last night. It was beautifully lit up for Christmas, and featured an interesting art display in one building, cookies and cider in the other, and of course friendly and informative people in both buildings. Altogether, if you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful and huge old home for a family reunion over the holidays, you could not do better than Bob's place.

Captain Tom's Cabin - Secluded Vermont Getaway

AnjaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Captain's Tom Cabin is lovely place to stay at the Green Mountains. The view towards the Long Trail from the patio is an amazing place to watch the sun coming down. The cabin has everything what you need, it is warm and cozy, feels like home. Claire is very detailed in direction and cares about her visitors. I really enjoyed the welcome Russian sweet and sour soup and the cookies as well. Thanks for letting me stay with my cat, most host do no want to have cats, even advertise "pet friendley". If you arrive with your dog, there is plenty of acres to explore. Thank you Claire, we definitely will come back.

I really enjoyed my time at Dan’s place. I adhered to his instructions to download the driving directions so I had no problem finding the place upon losing service. The home was cozy and comfortable. Dan was an excellent host as he allowed an early check in and he described the place very well.

Connecticut River Summer Cottage

PeggyRating, 5 stars7 months ago
My childhood friend and I had a nice reunion 4 day stay at the end of September so we could take a King Arthur class. We really enjoyed the hideaway beauty of the rustic cottage and its peaceful surroundings. Jane proactively reminded us that the cottage is unheated, so we brought warm sleeping clothes; still a couple of mornings were quite chilly. We felt like we were glamping.

We had a great stay, it felt very homey. Most things are about a 20 min drive away. Colatina had the best food! We loved the sauna and were visited by the horses fenced in next door. Quiet and remote. Had everything we needed.

Black Bear Lodge Corinth Vermont

FredRating, 5 stars2 months ago
This home work out really well for us. It is spacious and relaxing. The host were very responsive and pleasant. The host helped us weather transportation issues caused by a snow and ice storm. Knowing the pending storm and lack of nearby resources, we made most of our meals. There was plenty of dishes and cooking utensils to make meal prep easy. We would rent this property again and would recommend it to others. The views are amazing.

Cute and Cozy in Vermont

RachelRating, 5 stars22 months ago
This finished basement apartment was perfect for a weekend stay while visiting family in Barre. It was comfortable and chic, thoughtfully curated. Keep in mind it is the basement of the host family's full time home, so you will hear their movement above (which didn't bother me) and there are no windows that allow natural light in so nice, dark sleeping conditions but maybe a little difficult to get going in the morning! I bumped into the host, Courtney, and she was super friendly and very approachable.

The best stay around! Barre is a great little walkable town with shops and restaurants to explore. It’s only a short drive to local ski / snowboarding mountains as well as some hiking. The house was clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed that made it feel like we were cooking right at home, which we loved. Private Mountaintop Retreat w/ Gorgeous Views

MindyRating, 5 stars6 months ago
We had a fantastic fall vacation with family at Pumpkin Rim! The cabins were lovely, comfortable, and well-stocked, with plenty of room to spread out. The surroundings are just gorgeous - such a beautiful setting with spectacular views! We loved going on long walks every day, hanging out on the deck, and playing games or reading. We also had fun spending time down at the pond, and it was even warm enough to take the kayak out. Hannah was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We had one of the best vacations we've had in years, and would love to come back.

Wild Sugar Homestead - Bucolic Vermont Dreamland

RyanRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We felt right at home during our stay at Wild Sugar! The property was beautiful, and even though we had a large group, there was plenty of space for us in the main home. To make the trip even better, Erik and Hallie were communicative and helpful hosts from the moment we pulled into the driveway. I could not recommend this place enough — our only regret is that we couldn’t stay for longer!

Blue Hawaii

KevinRating, 5 stars6 months ago
I would highly recommend Janai and Dean’s glampground if you’re looking for a majestic getaway perfect for those looking to connect with nature. Starting with the glampsite itself, there is everything you’d need to make it feel like your home away from home. The outdoor communal kitchen area is fully stocked and ready for your meals with all the tools you’d need, with plenty of lighting. The site is incredibly well taken care of, with very thoughtful lighting which allows you to really appreciate the firepit and take in the stars while still providing magical vibes. What really brings this place together are the incredible hosts. They’re extremely accommodating and thoughtful, even stopping by the campsite early in the morning and later at night to make sure everyone was doing well. Again, we can’t recommend this place enough, and hope to be able to stay here again in the future!

Hideaway-Private, Peaceful, Cozy, Tranquil, Pets

AnnaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The Hideaway was a great retreat for my 2-week escape from elder caregiving. I wanted snow, peace and quiet and easy access to views of mountains. I also needed a place with reliable internet to be able to work remotely. Pamela Jean and Cullen’s home was perfect. The internet was fast, no issues. I streamed TV too. During my 2 weeks, we experienced snow, some thawing, refreezing, ice, more snow and they proactively arranged for someone to plow the driveway and parking area when it snowed and bring sand when it thawed and turned icy and a little muddy. I definitely recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle in winter. My original rental car was 2WD (mistake by rental co) Toyota Rav4 and it couldn’t make it up the snowy drive. They had to bring me a replacement and that one did just fine. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen had an air fryer, toaster, microwave and new pots and pans. Very comfortable stay! Thanks so much to both of you!

Mountain Cottage with Epic View

KellyRating, 5 stars10 months ago
This cottage has to be one of the most charming, peaceful places I've stayed. The cottage is up on its own little hill, surrounded by blueberries, peonies and at night, fireflies. Caroline was flexible with our check-in and met us as soon as we got in to show us around. We came up for four nights in June with our dog, who loved having room to explore off leash. The cottage itself had everything we needed. The outdoor shower is a really nice touch, especially on a summer night. We also really appreciated little touches like two chargeable fans for warmer days/evenings, and little vases of flowers everywhere-- including in the clean, composting outhouse. Really amazing what they have managed to do on just solar power plus a couple propane appliances!! Nothing but good things to say about Caroline, Derek and their cottage.

Rustic Vermont Log Cabin

GerardoRating, 5 stars2 months ago
My stay at Riddhi’s place was exquisitely pleasant. The house has an incredible natural vibe to it. It’s well decorated. Views were immaculate. The parking is easy. Check in & out was seamless. Perfect way to spend a weekend away in the mountains. In regard to her communication and accommodation, it was perfect. She responds fast. She is easy to talk to. And she accommodates for little needs that make a big difference. Because of her, my birthday snowboarding trip with my friends was everything I could ask for. I would 10000000% stay there again next time I go to Killington Ski Resort.
