Freestone Group Cabin

GretaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a good stay in the middle of the road trip from Milford Sound. We booked the bath and it was beautiful and so cozy. Good way to enjoy after a long ride but while we were in the tubs, an opossum came with speed and jumped on the deck we were at. We got scared at first but things calmed down after that. Otherwise everything was great. Jaclyn was friendly and the beds were warm and comfy. Would like to go again!
A rustic cabin is illuminated by warm light under a starry night sky, with the Milky Way visible overhead. The surrounding native trees and shrubs provide seclusion, creating a serene outdoor atmosphere perfect for enjoying the beauty of nature.

Mavora Cabin

AbigailRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Our group has stayed in a lot of AirBnbs and Mavora cabin was hands down the best experience we have ever had! The location of the cabin is incredibly beautiful, it is hard to not spend all of your time just sitting and staring at the view. The cabin itself is wonderfully appointed, clean and comfortable. And Anna and Rob are absolutely wonderful hosts! They took time to show us and our two year old around the farm, and to meet some animals and they were so unbelievably kind. Would absolutely recommend to anyone and would love to stay again!
The exterior of a rustic cabin is shown, nestled among trees on a sloping hillside. A tin roof reflects the sunlight, while the surrounding landscape features open fields and distant mountains under a clear blue sky.

Freestone cabin

GraceRating, 5 stars1 month ago
A perfect spot to stay between trips to Milford Sound but even stumbled on a lovely forest on the way to the ‘Anduin River’. Warren was absolutely lovely and everyone was accommodating. True to the description and nice to be able to see the stars and do some old fashioned things like playing cards in the dim light with the fireplace going.
A rustic cabin is illuminated warmly by outdoor lighting beneath a starry night sky. Surrounding native trees create a sense of privacy, while the expansive Milky Way is visible above, enhancing the tranquil setting.

Freestone Cabin

NikolayRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We absolutely loved our stay and genuinely enjoyed every moment! This place is a perfect gateway to experience New Zealand’s breathtaking nature. The cozy wood stove kept us warm during the evenings, though it did get chilly by morning—something to keep in mind if you prefer warmer nights. Despite the cold, our overall experience was incredible. Warren’s outdoor baths were amazing, and the sunrise views were unforgettable. Even with the limited electricity (just in the bathrooms), everything worked out perfectly. Warren was extremely accommodating, even allowing us to do our laundry, which was great! Only 10 minutes away from Doubtful Sound, we highly recommend this spot. Despite the chilly nights, it’s definitely a 5-star experience—we’d stay again in a heartbeat!

Loved staying at the cottage! We wished we could have stayed a week or more. It feels very private with lovely views. It was small but perfect for two people. Walkable to local restaurants. There is lots to do if you enjoy hiking & the outdoors. We took advantage of clear weather to enjoy the gorgeous stars & dark skies.

The Long House

RachelRating, 5 stars4 months ago
We loved our stay as it had 5 separate family bedrooms with showers and a large kitchen and family room with a piano. This created a great mix of both private and shared spaces for our extended family and children. The house was reminiscent of a tramping hut with a long porch to relax on and was basic whilst having all we needed. This created a real holiday feel. We loved that it was so walking/biking distance to the lake and walking and cycling trails. All the family would be happy to go back and a great time was had by all.
The exterior of the house features a combination of wooden panels and large windows, reflecting the surrounding natural landscape. A two-story structure is framed by green vegetation, with a balcony on the upper level offering mountain views. The setting includes a gently sloped grassy area.

Time Out Cottage 1. A Get-Away

JoeRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a ball. Kerri was great with instructions and was on hand immediately to help. We didn’t meet her legend husband he was over at the pub… lad! We heard them singing in the pub and wanted to join but it was so dark we were wondering if we would be okay getting there. We woke up early for sunrise and it was so refreshing to go out and see the beauty surrounding the cabin shack lodge. We would return and we recommend and next time we’ll check out the holy pub.

The Lake Hayes Hut.

My stay at this cozy Airbnb hut was absolutely delightful. Nestled in nature, the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect escape from the busy city life. The hut was clean, well-equipped, and just as pictured. Waking up to the sounds of birds and the fresh breeze was a highlight. A special shoutout to the owner, who was incredibly efficient and helpful — they quickly resolved a water staging issue in the washroom with great professionalism. Their responsiveness made the stay even more comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in a serene, nature-filled setting. Would love to return!

Mountain View Cabin

We had a wonderful stay at Julie’s place — the location was ideal, tucked away just enough for privacy but still very convenient for exploring Wanaka. The space was beautifully set up, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. The bed was super comfy, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout. Julie was incredibly accommodating and responsive, with great communication from the start. She kindly allowed us an early check-in so our baby could nap — our travel cot fit in perfectly, which made all the difference after a long drive. We felt really well looked after and would absolutely stay here again.
