Yanagi-an is located in Kameoka City, the back of Kyoto. It's a little bit far from the center of Kyoto, but it's 10 minutes to Saga-Arashiyama and 17 minutes to Nijo Station by JR from nearby Umahori Station, so I don't think it's that inconvenient compared to the city. There is also plenty of parking, making it ideal for gatherings with relatives. Nearby there is a trolley train, Hozugawa descent, and a rafting departure point for everyone to enjoy. There is a shopping mall, TSUTAYA, and restaurants within 100 meters of the inn, which is very convenient. Yanagian's nearest station, Umahori Station, is 25 minutes from Kyoto Station. 10 minutes to Arashiyama Station, 17 minutes to Nijo Station. It's also convenient if you book the Romantic train. There are a supermarket, pharmacy, DIY store and restaurants close by.

My auntie was a noted “Shamisen” guitar player and she appeared in many movies and TV dramas. Now her home and its rooms, where she practiced her “Shamisen”, have been converted for a comfortable stay.

It's located on the same alley with other two authentic Kyoto Machiya town houses. You can enjoy staying in this house as if you are local residents. There are two rooms on the second floor. One of them has two single beds and the other room has a sofa bed for two which makes four people to stay in this house. The house has everything you need to stay comfortably.

A traditional dining area features a wooden table surrounded by several wooden chairs. Shoji doors create a connection to an outdoor space, allowing soft natural light to filter in. Dark wooden flooring complements the overall aesthetic of the room.

it's more a hotel than an airbnb but the the lady at the reception is extremely kind and helpful struggles a bit with english but nothing that google translate can't resolve. spacious enough rooms and toilet and the best part is it's close to the main kyoto station

The room we live in is upstairs, there are three windows, it is very spacious and bright, the view from each window is different, but they are all beautiful.It's quiet at night, and at 3 or 4 in the morning, the insects and birds will start to sing, just like when I was a kid at home.The host will pick you up and drop you off at the subway station or nearby attractions, like Kinkakuji Temple.Breakfast was especially delicious. I had insomnia the first night, so I didn't let the Host prepare my portion in order to sleep a little longer. I only ate on the day of check-out, which was a pity!Next time I have the opportunity to go to Kyoto, I will want to stay again.

I stayed here for 2 days and had a great time. The beds are very comfortable and the shared spaces are very nice and well-maintained. It was fun to socialize with other guests and meet new people. Highly recommend!

I am a Chinese tourist, the owner and her son warmly welcomed us, they can communicate in simple Chinese, so it will be convenient for Chinese tourists to come here.It's about 10 minutes from the nearest subway station, which makes it not particularly convenient to get around, but fortunately, the house is rustic, comfortable to sleep in, clean and tidy. For tourists who want to experience traditional Kyoto homestays, this one is highly recommended.
