Johanna's place is a real gem! It's beautiful, peaceful and it was just what we were looking for. We loved having our breakfast on the airy terrace listening to birds and watching howler monkeys. Everything is well thought through and designed with an eye for detail. What a find!

This was my second stay at Johanna’s Living Forest, and I made a special trip to return because I loved it so much the first time. This time, I brought my adult son, and we were both enchanted by the beauty and serenity of this magical place. The space truly lives up to its name — we were surrounded by lush, vibrant jungle, with a beautiful stream running through the property (and a perfect little swimming spot!). We saw incredible wildlife, including colorful birds and even toucans. A highlight of our stay was the morning class led by Johanna — a beautiful blend of chi gong and yoga that left us feeling grounded and refreshed. Johanna’s warmth and wisdom shine through in everything she does, creating an atmosphere that is both peaceful and inspiring. I can’t wait to return again and would recommend Living Forest to anyone looking for a deeply restorative and nature-filled retreat.

Roy was very responsive, helpful and friendly. The property is beautiful with great trails and a tower to watch the sunset. The hammock and the friendly dogs on the property were a nice perk! Definitely would recommend this place!

This place is an absolute gem! The views of the lake Arenal are fantastic and the house has a charm that the pictures don't do it justice. You have see it in person to appreciate the place. Patrick and his wife were excellent hosts, very helpful with anything we needed. The house is minutes to Nuevo Arenal, lake Arenal and lake Cote, one hour and a half from La Fortuna in one direction and from Tenorio Volcan with Rio Celeste in another direction. e Excellent location to have for a base and visit a large area. Thank you for hosting us and we will be back!

Montana de Fuego was a great place to stay. We stayed in what they called the “superior bungalows” which had two queen beds and a full bath but it was its own little house structure. We really loved this spot because we had an awesome view from both the front and back porch areas; rainforest on one side and Arenal volcano on the other. The hot springs were very relaxing and all the staff was warm, welcoming and very helpful. I will say the rooms are a bit dated by American standards as other reviews mention but it was perfect for our needs and always felt clean! We did take advantage of a 2 for 1 spa deal on the property and had an awesome experience at a very reasonable price. The location was great with the town of La Fortuna right down the road 8 mins in one direction and the park with great hikes up the road at Arenal 1968. We would definitely tell friends to consider this resort for one of their stays and would gladly come back.

An amazing location in a protected natural alcove carved out by a stream. Primarily a yoga retreat, but it was an ideal spot for windsport enthusiasts launching from Tico Wind. It's clear that Johanna searched hard to find this spot. She's spent a huge amount of effort to create the site. A friendly atmosphere with shared kitchen for gathering.

Emplacement incroyable, plage magnifique, endroit encore préservé, hôtel assez intimiste, et charmant. Personnel très sympathique et accueillant. Chambre spacieuse, vue magnifique, douche en extérieur très agreable! Restaurant bien également. Kayak, paddle seuls au monde le matin, un vrai + L’arrivée en bateau a quelques chose de magique également, au coucher de soleil Voiture garée sur le Parking du camping, à 5 min en bateau de l’hôtel, sans problème.

10/10 stay. The staff are all so friendly. 3 hot springs on site, beautiful view of the volcano from your stay. The pool bar is great. The restaurant on site is delicious. ALL the staff are so incredible. Free breakfast and its so delicious.

This is our second time staying at Calala and it was amazing ! The included breakfast is amazing ! We ate dinner there a few times too , so good . The cabins are beautifully designed , the indoor/outdoor showers are the best . The pool is a great place to cool off , the beach is gorgeous . Walk to cemetery island at low tide you won’t regret it . I would recommend bringing an extra fan if you can , there isn’t A/C . There’s ceiling fans and an oscillating floor fans available in cabins . Everyone speaks great English so no worries there . We will be back for a third visit soon !

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjours chez Ronald. La journée l’extérieur était très agréable avec les hamac et tous les aménagements extérieurs. La nuit nous étions très confortables dans le bungalow. Ronald s’est montré très réactif face a nos questions et nous a toujours aidé. Le logement est très proche de la cascade Llano del Cortez donc c’était super ! Par contre le chemin qui nous avons pris pour arriver au logement est assez rocailleux, il faut vraiment y aller doucement avec la voiture…

We absolutely loved our stay! It was a unique place with extremely beautiful views of the mountains. Just be mindful that it is true to “glamping” meaning you will feel a lot of wind at night, which depending on your sleeping patterns can be challenging. Also, the place is a little off the beaten path, but we loved our time and would recommend.

I went with my 2 daughters (age 16 & 20) and we had a great time! The villa was beautiful, comfortable, and very well appointed. The view was incredible and just sitting on the porch listening to and watching the wildlife was the perfect way to relax. The fresh, local, organic food cooked by the staff was amazing! We enjoyed the pool, and a cold plunge in the spa. The gym was nice for a workout too. It’s about 20 mins to the towns and beaches in and around Nosara from the remote location up on the mountain so you aren’t popping in and out, but we planned ahead when we were spending time off site so it wasn’t a problem. The remote location made it special. Oh and the staff were all super friendly and accommodating! We highly recommend staying here.

Süße kleine Zimmer mit Klimaanlage, warm wasser in der Dusche und einem Kleinen Schrank mit blick auf den Fluß. alles was man braucht um sich eine nacht zu erholen. Die Gastgeberin war super nett und hat uns alle fragen beantwortet.

This accommodation was absolutely unique and exceeded all expectations with its quirky cool rooms, impeccable cleanliness, outstanding service from Travis and his team, and a perfect location - Travis took us out on his boats for a day of snorkeling, swimming and island hopping, a 5-star boat experience from start to finish, definitely will recommend.

Great place, awesome for kids with pool and to explore around. Beach is 5 min by car and place is very clean and comfortable.

This bed and breakfast is in an amazingly beautiful location. Although we had rainy and cold weather, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting the area, and it’s quite close to Selvatura Park. The value for the room is incredible - we could only imagine the views if the weather had been good for us (see reviews about the view when the weather is clear). Lastly, ask for extra blankets if the weather is rainy/cold, as the rooms aren’t heated. As the reviews state, the banana pancakes and coffee are amazing. Beautiful place!!!

Gary’s place has a great little vibe. Super chill and friendly. The accommodations are basic but have everything you need. The pool is lovely with lush landscaping around the pool and a couple of hammocks for relaxing and napping.

my mom and I had a lovely time at Hotel Campo Verde! we saw 2 toucans in the morning on the hike within the property, which was amazing! the free breakfast was delicious and our cabin was cozy and clean. the reception was very friendly and we loved the secluded feeling of the place. we definitely recommend!

The room was clean and in great conditio, water, AC, everything ran as it should. The pool area and garden was maintained perfectly. I don't know if we were the only ones (despite seeing several cars in the parking area), but it was very quiet and peaceful. The host very attentive. Great place to stay.

Great host, very kind

We had to find a last minute accommodation, and the host confirmed the booking within an hour, or even less. It’s important when you’re tired and stressed out. The place was incredibly clean, quiet, comfortable bed and high quality bed linens. What really stood out for me was the non toxic laundry detergent- there was no smell, which I really prefer, and it’s difficult to find in Costa Rica. Don Alejandro (the guard) was notified about us coming, was readily available to help us check in. We even saw lil animals on the trees fight by our casita. Thank you for a peaceful stay.
