This small room (now with a new small private bathroom located next door) is on Paolyn Houseboat that is located in the pristine, clear and clean water of Laknisan Lagoon also called Blue Lagoon just 500 mtrs from the famous Twin Lagoons and 100 mtrs from Hidden Lagoon, not far from Kayangan Lake. The Lagoon is 360 degrees sheltered that makes the water perfectly calm. Our Houseboats are the only accommodation and restaurant in Coron island and they are totally Off The Grid
“This is not a 5-star hotel but it truly gives you a 5-star experience. It was incredible to stay in the middle of all the beauty that Coron has to offer. We stayed 4 days and did not want to leave! Why we loved it: - Paolo was a great host. Great communicator and he provided a ton of information and what to expect. - We were taken care of from the moment we landed and left. They arranged for airport transfers by van and speedboat. It was pretty easy. - Obviously the best thing is BEING IN THE LAGOON. It was so beautiful to sleep and wake up in the middle of such beauty. The surroundings were all torquoise waters, green nature and blue skies! - The room was actually very comfortable. We had a private bathroom with organic/biodegradeable shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Everything was spotless clean and comfortable! - There’s a floating restaurant in the houseboat which is amazing to dine at day or night - both for the view / ambiance AND the food. - The food was incredible. You’d expect very few options since you’re in a houseboat, but no - they’ve got a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner - with appetizers, desserts and drinks. I obsessed over eggs and tocino for breakfast, grilled fish and vegetables for lunch, and grilled chicken for dinner. There’s a good selection of wine, beer and cocktails. I had fresh coconuts and mango smoothies daily, and also had leche flan for dessert. My partner said the pasta was amazing. - in case you’re bored at dinner (which is never, especially with the view), they have a ton or board games for guests. - All kayaking, standup paddle boards, snorkeling gear are free to use for guests. And they give you tips on where to go exploring on your own. Even the kayaking and snorkeling around the boat is gorgeous - we saw beautiful fish and a turtle! - you can also book a tour / rent their speedboat to check out the top attractions with a guide. THE BEST PART IS THEY CAN TAKE YOU BEFORE ALL THE TOURISTS COME IN FROM TOWN!!! We had every gorgeous spot to ourselves for a couple of hours and left before boat loads of people came. THIS MADE OUR STAY VERY WORTH IT!!! - The boat is also set up very nicely with lounge beds in case you just want to stick around and enjoy the view and some cocktails. - At night you can lie on the rooftop lounge and enjoy the stars - Last but not least, Paolo and the staff are the most hospitable people you’ll ever meet. Members of the local tribe work at the house boat so it’s extra special to be welcomed by the locals who own the beauty that was around us. Everything was done with so much care - from our breakfast to our tours, to our coconut drinks, and our bed and towels. You are surrounded by people who care about giving you a 5-star stay. I honestly could keep going about how beautiful this place is and how incredible the staff were. Tips to future travelers: - Book this houseboat if you want to experience Coron to the fullest! - Stay more than one night if you can. That way you get to do a tour one day and just enjoy the houseboat the next day. Over several days, we saw people come in to stay only 1 night and regret it. - Take advantage of the free activities - kayaking, SUP boards and snorkeling. - I highly recommend doing one of the tours - we did the half day morning tour to Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, some snorkeling spots and a beach. These are some of the most photographed spots in the Philippines AND you get the privilege of enjoying these places BEFORE the crowds come in. So take their suggestion to get up early for 6:15am breakfast and head out by 7am to avoid the boat loads of tourists who come in and are screaming and jumping. - at the time we did this, The tour included the price of the speed boat, tour guide, your gear and fuel. Heads up that it doesn’t include the entry fees to the different places (if any). These fees go to the local tribe. - There’s unlimited drinking water. Do not bring single use plastic bottles. They’ll provide you drinking water! - Respect the houseboat rules - they’re pretty good about setting up solar panels, setting up good bathroom systems, eco friendly bathroom products and informing guests on how to keep our stay harmless on nature and keep our surroundings pristine. Use water sparingly. - This stay is great for families, couples and even groups of friends. - Keep this gem a secret. I am doing this review only because i had an incredible experience but I wish this hidden gem remains a secret so I can come back again!”
This Junior Suite (private bathroom, view and balcony) is on Paolyn Houseboat that is located in the pristine, clear and clean water of Laknisan Lagoon, in Coron island, just 500 mtrs from the famous Twin Lagoons and 100 mtrs from Hidden Lagoon, not far from Kayangan Lake. The Lagoon (where we have two houseboats) is 360 degrees sheltered that makes the water perfectly calm. Our Houseboats are the only accommodation and restaurant in Coron island and they are totally Off The Grid.
“If you’re hesitating at all, don’t. Book this place right now!! We stayed in the Junior Suite and it was absolutely perfect for us. The entire experience from before we even arrived to the day we left was amazing. Paolo helped arrange a private van to the correct boat dock since our ferry came in a different one. We had the Paolo boat crew help get us out to the boat with zero confusion or time waiting, and then we had such a lovely staff on board that thought of all the little things and were so kind and genuine. The lagoon itself is honestly better than the Twins Lagoon and any other lagoon around it. Lounging on the roof deck at night with the view of millions of stars was awe inspiring and romantic. The room itself was perfect. Private, large enough that it was comfortable for two people, and even a waterfall showerhead in the bathroom. This is the most luxurious boat living I’ve ever seen- they’ve thought of every little comfort. Last, I had a mango allergy that I was worried about with eating on board (and the Philippines in general) but everyone was really accommodating and I felt safe the entire time with my food. Thank you guys!! We can’t wait to come back.”
*** update as of 10/2019. To all future guest! Our neighbor on the left side are constructing an extension of their house which may create some noises. In addition, BVL #2 is currently being constructed right in front of Buena Vista Lodging #1. It may blocked the view of the Cabana from the second floor unit, BUT not the view of Culion Bay. Isla Culion is about 45 minutes or 1 hr boat ride via Fastcraft from Coron Port. The island is centrally located to all island hopping destination.
“We had a lovely stay at Rachelle’s apartment in Culion. First of all, if you are looking to avoid the crowds of Coron then Culion is a wonderful alternative. There are no island hopping tours but you can rent a private boat to take you anywhere in the surrounding area, plus Culion is well located to the various WWII ship wrecks that make Coron such a famous diving destination. We took the discovery diving course at a local dive shop and it was great! The apartment is clean, spacious and well located. “Pastor” was our go-to guy for everything Culion- he was a wonderful asset for helping us set up all of our activities and even brought food to us on NYE! There are a couple of good restaurants offering local cuisine within a 2 minute walk from the front entrance. We were very happy with our stay at Rachelle’s apartment and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a more authentic travel experience than what is offered in Coron.”
