The space
Terracotta walls undulate beneath a banner of sky at this sweeping, curving, statement-making villa, sheltered by the mountains in southern Sardinia. It stands on the grounds of Is Molas, a contemporary resort designed with the aim of making “sculptures to live in,” and its views encompass acres of countryside rolling down to the sea. Drive to beaches and the ancient-but-vibrant city of Cagliari.

The villa’s walls wrap around a sun-splashed courtyard, where the sky beams back from a reflecting pool, and a solid-wood deck on the rooftop, whose views stretch to the mountains and sea. Those same mountains absorb north winds, so there’s plenty of warm weather to savor in the freeform swimming pool and shaded alfresco living area.

Glossy tile bounces sunshine and seamless cabinetry conceals doors, playing with light and space in rooms laid out by Fuksas Design. At the villa’s heart is an open-plan great room with a living area, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. There are 2 bedrooms in the main house, and 2 in separate pavilions across the courtyard.
