The house and property: Peaceful. Pristine. Private. The host: Friendly. Knowledgeable. Responsive. Our family had a wonderful time at House Marlin! Cathy is a friendly, responsive, knowledgeable host. Check-in was easy. The house is clean and had all the amenities our family needed. We were steps from the beach and our kids loved the pool.

Sea Grape Villas

I stayed at this Airbnb for two nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The space was exactly as described—clean, peaceful, and well-equipped with everything I needed for day-to-day living, including kitchen supplies, toiletries, and comfortable furniture. The host was fantastic—very responsive, easy to communicate with, and genuinely accommodating. They made the entire process smooth and stress-free, which I really appreciated. The pricing was fair and completely matched what was listed—no surprises or extra charges. I felt that the value I received for the cost was excellent. Overall, this was one of the most seamless and comfortable Airbnb stays I’ve had. I would definitely love to stay here again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-managed and welcoming place to stay.

CASA DE BAHAMAS

OliviaRating, 5 stars37 months ago
My fiance and I stayed at Casa de Bahamas for a full week and absolutely loved everything about the trip and the house! The space is very roomy and could easily fit more people. The house is conveniently located ~20 minutes from the Stella Maris Airport and a short drive to the grocery store and other popular destinations on the island. The home itself is very well kept and fully stocked with everything you need for a beach vacation (sunscreen, towels, bugspray, kayaks, paddleboards, floaties). The kitchen is also equipped with everything you need. We were blown away by the beach and the natural beauty of the outdoor space. The island itself is very quiet and you practically have the beach to yourself - it's a perfect spot to unplug and get away from the hustle and bustle. We met many ocean friends including, starfish, sea turtles and a stingray! A few things not noted: - The outdoor space has a firepit that included a bundle of firewood - the stars at night were the best we have ever seen! - Dmitri connected us with a rental car option about a week before our trip which was very convenient - highly recommend renting a car, be sure to bring cash to pay for the car rental. - The island and the home are surrounded by natural beauty and with that comes outdoor friends - sand mites at dawn and dusk, we also ran into small scorpions outside. We didn't have a problem with bugs indoors and the house is stocked with bug spray. - The flowers and bird feeders bring around tons of hummingbirds which was a lovely surprise. - The pool is deeper than we thought and is a saltwater pool which we liked. We highly recommend Casa de Bahamas and can't wait to return!!!

Beachfront Villa - Private beach

Patricia LeeRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a truly wonderful time at Bill’s place. Bill met us at the house and gave us a tour . He is a very charming and knowledgeable host. The property is actually better than described and had everything that you could wish for. The house was spotless with very comfortable king size bed in the master bedroom and many lovely towels in the bathroom, which is a change from some of the Airbnbs we have stayed in previously. The views from the wrap around deck were stunning. We wholeheartedly recommend Bill’s place for anyone wishing to explore beautiful Long Island.
A wooden dining table with several matching chairs is set on a tiled terrace, facing the ocean. Palm trees sway gently, providing a tropical ambiance. The blue waters of a swimming pool glisten in the background, while the horizon showcases the expansive ocean view.

Stella Views - stunning 360 degree views

JohnRating, 5 stars13 months ago
The views from this house are simply breath taking in every direction and from almost from every room in the house. just when we thought the ocean views of the island could not get any better, we ventured up to the very top deck level and WOW WOW WOW! Beyond the views, this house is beautifully pearched on a hill, is solidly constructed and offers an inviting, well appointed, furnished and relaxing atmosphere. My family and I enjoyed it immenesly and would 100% stay here again. The host/hostess were very easy to coordinate with and were readily available to help or provide valuable information when needed. I highly recommend this listing. John G.

Home living by the Ocean

We love Long Island and the Fox 2 house in Stella Mari’s was a great home base for us! Everything was exactly as described and we appreciated the beach towels and chairs. A little cooler would be a nice addition! Such a beautiful island with such happy and friendly residents. Hope to return and would rent this house again!

Your guide to Long Island

Welcome to Long Island

A literal paradise for divers, anglers, and sailors, Long Island is the hidden gem of the Bahamas. Known as the most scenic island in the entire country, it boasts brilliantly colored coral reefs, picturesque beaches, and oceans teeming with life. Here, island life prevails, dictated by the rolling ocean, with the main activities including sailing, fishing, scuba diving, free diving, and snorkeling. You’ll need a few hours’ rest and recuperation between adventures, probably sunbathing in the balmy temperatures.

This secluded oasis offers 80 miles of lush, untamed greenery and unspoiled sparkling waters. The east coast features rugged cliffs and endless caves, while the quieter west coast offers expanses of white sand and turquoise sea and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Adventure awaits divers at Dean’s Blue Hole, the second deepest underwater sinkhole in the world. Foodies won’t be disappointed either: The island’s best-known delicacy, conch, is a delicately flavored seafood available in every form imaginable. Just 45 minutes from Nassau by plane, Long Island offers a laid-back and authentic Bahamian vibe that you can’t help but love.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Long Island

Not far above the equator and smack dab in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, Long Island offers warm tropical weather all year long. Temperatures generally stay within a narrow band of warm but not too hot, as is typical of a Caribbean island. Even on “chilly” nights, a long-sleeved shirt will suffice — no need for a winter coat here! The best time to visit for warm-weather activities is between late November and mid-May, while the peak travel season ranges from mid-December to mid-April. The low season is more humid and cloudier, but visitors willing to risk a little more rainfall will find the island even more tranquil than usual. Be aware that the Atlantic hurricane season ranges from June through November. The island does fall within the hurricane belt, although serious storms are rare.

Top things to do in Long Island

Dean’s Blue Hole

Perhaps the island’s biggest draw is Dean’s Blue Hole, the second-deepest underwater sinkhole in the world, which plunges to an awe-inspiring depth of 663 feet. With exceptional visibility, divers will love this paradise with its incredible untouched reefs and vast variety of tropical sea life. Travelers not wishing to descend into the depths can safely enjoy the beauty of the blue hole from the waist-deep surrounding water, and the sheltered nature of the bay makes it ideal for novice swimmers and kids.

Saint Mary the Virgin Anglican Church

For lovers of history, Long Island features the oldest church in the country. Now a romantic ruin, the vast stone building is thought to have been built by the Spanish in the 17th century. The picturesque structure makes the perfect backdrop for an island sunset.

Hamilton’s Cave

The largest cave system in the Bahamas, this complex of passageways, some more than 45 feet wide, features a host of stalagmites, stalactites, and other fascinating rock formations. The caves are also home to a bat colony that comes alive around dusk. The property’s owner provides a guided tour and flashlights to ensure you don’t need to worry about getting left behind in the dark.
