Our modern home is 15 minutes drive from Taupo but still feels like a secret hideaway. It is quiet and private with majestic views of Lake Taupo and Mount Ruapehu - the sunsets are stunning. Lovely little room with a great view. We went knowing it was a room on one end of someones home so no surprises (I think this may have threw some reviewers). Waking up with a coffee and the view over the lake made it so we had trouble finding the will to leave in the morning. The host was responsive and gave us our privacy also.

Hilary and Rob are fantastic hosts. Hilary is super friendly and accommodating. I simply inquired if there is a microwave at the place to heat up takeaway food (no big deal if there isn’t one), she went out of her way -and bought a brand new one before we checked in. We were amazed by her kindness and effort, we really appreciated it. The place is very peaceful with stunning view, highly recommended! Cool, calm and connected to its stunning setting, this summit-level sanctuary is hidden away, escaping the noise of the world. Perfect space to recharge, almost floating with the clouds. Swing chairs and blackout window treatments are the perfect addition to this restorative getaway. Showcases New Zealand beautifully. (Fresh basil a lovely touch too, thanks Kelly).

Kylie and Dan’s Lochside Retreat was absolutely beautiful! It was cozy, tidy and a very inviting space to relax. It was just as described however more stunning in person! Kylie and Dan had left added touches with treats, a prepared fire and candles for the outside bath. A personalised note was left on arrival. I would 100% recommend. Thank you Kylie and Dan!

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Czar's Rest. Morag was a thoughtful and kind host. We loved the beautiful surroundings and the home was peaceful and private. We had come down for a local night trail running event and were very grateful for the tub to soak in afterwards!
